MODEL 83054
REPAIR KIT
FOR MODELS 81685, 81941, 81985, 82050, 82054, 82716,
83121, 83127, 83513 - (2-1/2 AIR MOTOR - 50:1 RATIO)
OLD STYLE
1. U screw 11470 or 13363 with 68531. Drive pi
(11472) from collar (11471). Collar is free to be
removed.
2. Tur trip sleeve (11947) cou terclockwise by
ha d to u screw from trip rod (90691). Note:
Trip rod (90691) ca ot be removed u til pump
tube is disassembled.
3. U screw four uts (51009) from tie rods
(10294). Lift e tire airmotor straight up u til free
of trip rod (90691). Refer to Step 9.
4. U screw four screws (50016) a d remove cover
plate (41202). Replace the cover gasket
(34158).
5. Remove cap (11905) a d replace the packi g
(34110). Coat the i side surface of the ut
(11904) a d the outside surface of the packi g
(34110) with lubrica t before assembly. Replace
packi g ut gasket (30003). Remove four toggle
plate screws (50423).
Lift out toggle plate assembly (91331) to i -
spect. If pi s or plates are loose, or if holes i
trip li kage are wor out of rou d a d appear
egg-shaped, replace toggle plate assembly. Trip
shoe (11475) a d trip rod sleeve (11947) are
free after toggle plate assembly is removed.
6. Remove the four valve seat bolts (11906) a d
the spri gs (55138). Remove guide plate
(45605), replace the two equalizer balls (66010)
a d the two spri gs (56038). Remove valve
slide a d seat a d i spect for wear by slidi g
the valve block from side to side o the valve
plate. If wear is appare t, replace with valve
slide, seat a d gasket (83063).
7. Remove trip rod packi g ut (11476) (use a
wide blade screw driver). Packi g (236835) a d
washer (48235) are housed i recess of ut.
Grease i side of ut (11476) a d fill spri g
housi g a d air motor casti g before replaci g
a d i stalli g packi g (236835) a d spri g
(55137).
8. Place outlet body (40537) i a horizo tal posi-
tio i vise. Remove pump tube from outlet body
of air motor. Refer to Steps 12 through 16.

9. After pump tube has bee completely take apart the
pisto (34090) a d two pisto washers (48212) ca
be removed by u screwi g the pisto bolt (11329)
from the pisto rod (11340).
To remove rod (11340) use a threadi g motio to
u screw from packi gs i outlet body (40537). Use
wre ch o milled flats of rod (11340). Use same
procedure whe i stalli g rod (11340) i ew pack-
i gs to preve t the threads o rod from damagi g
packi gs.
10. U screw gla d ut (12333). Remove a d replace
packi g (34180). Remove gla d packi g spacer
(14940). Remove a d replace 0-ri g (34572) a d U-
cup (38165) from gla d packi g spacer (14940).
Whe reassembli g pisto rod (11340) through
packi gs i outlet body (40537), do ot force rod
through packi gs as the threaded positio portio of
the rod will damage packi gs. I sert pisto rod a d
use a threadi g motio to move the rod (11340)
through the packi gs.
11. The two air cyli der gaskets (33014) a d two air
passage tube 0-ri gs (34368) are to be replaced as
the air motor is reassembled.
12. See Fig. A. Lay pump horizo tal i vise a d grip
outlet body lightly i vise jaws. Hold exte sio tube
(61273) a d u screw primi g tube (239719).
13. See Fig. B. Pull plu ger (11724) straight out u til
plu ger rod (11723) is exte ded as far as possible
out of the exte sio lube (61273). Hold bushi g of
90554 a d u screw exte sio tube (61273).
Ce ter exte sio tube (61273) betwee e d of
pisto bushi g a d plu ger (11724). I sert a y
poi ted tool i crosser.
Note: Plu ger may u screw from plu ger rod
(11723) or plu ger rod may u screw from check
seat (11726). Exte sio tube (61273) ca be re-
moved from free e d of plu ger rod (11723).
14. See Fig. C. Removal of exte sio tube (61273)
exposes the check seat (11725), primi g check
(11721), check stop (11722), support bushi g
(11702) a d plu ger packi g (35073).
Note: U screw primi g check (11721) from check
stop (11722) to remove support bushi g (11702)
a d plu ger packi g (35073).
15. See Fig. D a d E. Hold pump tube a d u screw
bushi g of 90554. Grip two flats at top of plu ger
with a e d wre ch a d remove check seat (11726).
Note: Check ball (66010) may remai i plu ger
after check seat (11726) is removed. To remove
check ball lilt pump i vise a d ge tly tap top of
plu ger at locatio of two flats.
16. See Fig. F. Remove pump tube from outlet body.
Remove pisto rod from pisto rod co ector
(11349). Milled flats are provided so that parts ca
be held with ope e d wre ches. Remove pisto
rod co ector (11349) a d trip rod (90691) from the
air motor pisto rod (11340) i the same ma er.
Remove air motor pisto rod (11340) as stated i
Step No. 8. Replace gasket (31048) betwee pisto
rod a d pisto rod co ector (11349). Replace
pump tube gasket (31054).

NEW STYLE
1. Remove valve cap (11470).
2. Drive trip rod pi (11472) from collar (11471). Collar is
free to be removed. Tur trip sleeve (11947) cou ter-
clockwise by ha d to u screw from trip rod (90691).
3. U screw four tie rod uts (51009) from tie rods (10294)
a d lift e tire air motor straight up u til free of trip rod
(90691).
4. U screw four screws (236868) a d remove cover
(236286). Replace cover gasket (34158).
5. Remove packi g cap (11905) a d replace plu ger pack-
i g (34110). Coat the i side surface of packi g ut
(11904) a d the outside surface of the ew gasket with
lubrica t before assembly. Replace packi g ut gasket
(30003). Remove four toggle plate screws (236869). Lift
out toggle assembly (91331) to i spect. Replace if pi s
are wor out of rou d or plates are loose. Remove trip
shoe (11475) a d trip sleeve (11947).
6. Remove four valve seat screws (236870) a d the valve
seat spri gs (55138). Remove valve seat guide plate
(45605), replace the two steel balls (66010) a d the two
spri gs (56038). Remove valve slide, seat a d gasket
(83063). I spect for wear a d replace if wor .
7. Remove trip rod packi g ut (245425), trip rod packi g
(236835), a d trip rod washer (236616), replace packi g
a d gasket. Coat parts with grease.
8. Place outlet body (40537) horizo tally i a vise. Remove
pump tube from outlet body. Refer to Steps 12 through 16

TO LUBRICATE AIR VALVE MECHANISM
A) DISCONNECT AIR TO PUMP.
B) PERFORM PRESSURE RELIEF
PROCEDURE.
C) REMOVE FOUR COVER SCREWS,
COVER PLATE AND COVER PLATE
GASKET.
D) REMOVE AIR VALVE CASTING FROM
THE PUMP AND DISASSEMBLE.
E) CLEAN OR FLUSH THE AIR VALVE
CASTING TO REMOVE ANY CHIPS OR
OTHER FOREIGN PARTICLES.
F) BEFORE REPLACING TOGGLE
ASSEMBLY, PACK CAVITY WITH
GREASE USING APPROXIMATELY
1-1/2 OUNCES OF N.L.G.I. NO. 1
(LIGHT GRADE) WATER REPELLENT
GREASE.
G) REPLACE COVER PLATE GASKET,
COVER PLATE AND COVER CREWS.
TIGHTEN TO PREVENT AIR LEAKS.
H) PERIODIC INSPECTION OF PARTS AT
LEAST ONCE A YEAR IS ADVISED.
