Failure o follow he warnings and ins ruc ions

1. Do not expose to rain. Store indoors.
2. Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is
necessary when used by or near children.
3. Use only as described in this manual. Use only
manufacturer’s recommended attachments.
4. Do not use with damaged battery. If appliance is
not working as it should, has been dropped,
damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water,
return it to a service center.
5. Do not handle appliance with wet hands.
6. Do not put any object into openings. Do not use
with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint,
hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
7. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of
body away from openings and moving parts.
8. Turn off all controls before removing the battery.
9. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
10. Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible
liquids, such as gasoline, or use in areas where
they may be present.
11. Use only the charger supplied by the
manufacturer to recharge.
12. Do not pick up anything that is burning or
smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot
ashes.
13. Do not use without dust bag and/or filters in place.
14. Do not charge the battery outdoors.
15. Recharge only with the charger specified by the
manufacturer. A charger ha is sui able for one ype
of ba ery pack may crea e a risk of fire when used
wi h ano her ba ery pack.
16. Use power tools only with specifically designated
battery packs. Use of any o her ba ery packs may
crea e a risk of injury and fire.
17. When (the) battery pack is not in use, keep it away
from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins,
keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects,
that can make a connection from one terminal to
another.
18. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected
from the battery; avoid contact. If contact
accidentally occurs, flush with water.
19. Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged
or modified. Damaged or modified ba eries may
exhibi unpredic able behaviour resul ing in fire,
explosion or risk of injury.
20. Do not expose a battery pack or tool to fire or
excessive temperature. Exposure o fire or
empera ure above 130 °C may cause explosion.
21. Follow all charging instructions and do not charge
the battery pack or tool outside the temperature
range specified in the instructions. Charging
improperly or a empera ures ou side he specified
range may damage he ba ery and increase he risk
of fire.

1. Read this instruction manual and the charger
instruction manual carefully before use.
2. Do not pick up the following materials:
- Hot materials such as lit cigarettes or spark/
metal dust generated by grinding/cutting metal
- Flammable materials such as gasoline, thinner,
benzine, kerosene or paint
- Explosive materials like nitroglycerin
- Ignitable materials such as Aluminum, zinc,
magnesium, titanium, phosphorus or celluloid
- Wet dirt, water, oil or the like
- Hard pieces with sharp edges, such as wood
chips, metals, stones, glasses, nails, pins or
razors
- Powder to clot such as cement or toner
- Conductive dust such as metal or carbon
- Fine particle like concrete dust
Such action may cause fire, injury and/or property
damage.
3. Stop operation immediately if you notice anything
abnormal.
4. If you drop or strike the cleaner, check it carefully
for cracks or damage before operation.
5. Do not charge the cleaner close to dangerous
flammable materials such as gasoline, gas, paint
or adhesives.
6. Do not charge the cleaner on papers, cloth, carpet,
vinyl, etc. This may cause a fire.
7. Do not charge the cleaner in a dusty place.
8. Be sure no one is below when using the cleaner in
high locations.
9. Do not bring close to stoves or other heat
sources.
10. Do not block the intake hole or vent holes.

1. Before using built-in battery, read all instructions
and cautionary markings on (1) battery charger, (2)
battery, and (3) product using battery.
2. Do not disassemble built-in battery.

3. If operating time has become excessively shorter,
stop operating immediately. It may result in a risk
of overheating, possible burns and even an
explosion.
4. If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinse them out
with clear water and seek medical attention right
away. It may result in loss of your eyesight.
5. Do not short the built-in battery:
(1) Do not touch the terminals with any
conductive material.
(2) Avoid storing built-in battery in a container
with other metal objects such as nails, coins,
etc.
(3) Do not expose built-in battery to water or
rain.
A battery short can cause a large current
flow, overheating, possible burns and even a
breakdown.
6. Do not store and use the tool and built-in battery
in locations where the temperature may reach or
exceed 50 °C (122 °F).
7. Do not incinerate the built-in battery even if it is
severely damaged or is completely worn out. The
built-in battery can explode in a fire.
8. Be careful not to drop or strike battery.
9. Do not use a damaged built-in battery.
10. The contained lithium-ion batteries are subject to
the Dangerous Goods egislation requirements.
When disposing the battery, remove it from the
tool and dispose of it in a safe place. Follow your
local regulations relating to disposal of battery.
11. Use the batteries only with the products specified
by Makita.

Tips for maintaining maximum battery life
1. Charge the built-in battery before completely
discharged.
Always stop tool operation and charge the built-in
battery when you notice less tool power.
2. Never recharge a fully charged built-in battery.
Overcharging shortens the battery service life.
3. Charge the built-in battery with room temperature
at 10°C - 40°C (50°F - 104°F). et a hot built-in
battery cool down before charging it.
4. Charge the built-in battery once in every six
months if you do not use the tool for a long period
of time.

CAUTION:
• Do no opera e he cleaner during charging. I may be

• Always disconnec he charging plug from he cleaner
af er charging.
• When you charge a new cleaner or a cleaner which
has been lef uncharged for a long ime, i may no
accep a full charge. This is a normal condi ion and
does no indica e a problem. You can recharge he
cleaner fully af er discharging i comple ely a couple of
imes.
Use only he Maki a charger DC1001 o charge his
cleaner. Use of he o her ype chargers may cause he
ba ery o burs , resul in personal injury and damage.
Charge he cleaner when using i for he firs ime or
uncharged for a long ime. Connec he charging plug o
he charging connec or, hen plug in he charger o he
power recep acle. The ba ery power lamp ligh s up and
s ar charging. Charging akes approxima ely 3 hours. The
ligh goes ou af er he charging is comple e. For more
de ails, refer o he ins ruc ion manual of ba ery charger.

CAUTION:
• Always be sure ha he dus bag or paper pack is
ins alled properly in he cleaner before use. Improper
ins alla ion may allow dus o en er he mo or, resul ing
in malfunc ion of he cleaner.
• Always swi ch off he cleaner af er each use o preven
damage o he cleaner and o ex end he service life of
he ba eries.
To s ar he cleaner, simply push he ON/speed change
bu on. To swi ch off, push he OFF bu on.
You can change he cleaner speed in hree s eps by
pushing he ON/speed change bu on.
The firs push on his bu on is for high speed mode, he
second push for max speed mode and he hird push for
normal speed. Each push on his bu on repea s he high/
max/normal speed cycle al erna ively. (Fig. 3)
Battery power lamp (Fig. 2)
When he remaining ba ery capaci y ge s low, he ba ery
power lamp blinks.
When he remaining ba ery capaci y ge s much lower, he
ool s ops and he ba ery power lamp ligh s up abou
10 seconds. A his ime, charge he cleaner.
NOTE:
• The ime a which he ba ery power lamp s ar blinking
or ligh ing up depends on he empera ure a work
place and he ba ery car ridge condi ions.

Disposing of Dust
CAUTION:
• Emp y he cleaner before i becomes oo full, or he
suc ion force weakens.
• Be sure o emp y ou he dus inside he cleaner i self.

clogged or he mo or o be damaged.

be used whenever ei her he dus bag or he paper
pack is used.
