Congratulations and welcome!
You have bought a MICROSON hearing aid featuring the
latest digital technology.
Your new hearing aid is the result of years of research and
development and is designed to make sure you enjoy all the
sounds of life.
The Microson team would like to wish you great success with
your hearing aid.
It is important that you read and follow the instructions in this
manual to prevent injury or any damage to your hearing aid.
This manual was drawn up in compliance with the EN 1041
and ISO 15223-1 standards.

The intended purpose of the hearing aids is to amplify sound
selectively and to transmit it to the ears of people with a
hearing disability (the hard of hearing) to compensate for
their hearing loss.
Use of the MICROSON CIMA FRONT BTE hearing aid is
recommended to compensate for severe to profound hearing
loss (conductive, mixed or neurosensorial). Not intended for
children.
Use of the MICROSON CIMA FRONT II BTE hearing aid is
recommended to compensate for severe to profound hearing
loss (conductive, mixed or neurosensorial). Not intended for
children.
A hearing aid must be prescribed and fitted by a hearing care
specialist, who will program it and adjust it specifically for
the patient’s hearing loss and morphology in a completely
personalised way. Be aware that using hearing aids not
prescribed by a professional or devices fitted for other people
can damage your hearing.
INTENDED PURPOSE PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION
The BTE (Behind the Ear BTE) hearing aids are anatomical
instruments placed behind the ear. . Are powered by
a battery and are typically designed to cover severe or
profound hearing losses. All mechanical and electronic
components are contained in an ergonomic housing. They
adapt to the user’s ear by molds which leaves a conductive
tube that attaches to the side of the hearing aid.
Moulds and conduction tube: these conduct sound and
allow the device to be fitted to the ear using a customised
or standard mould.
Microphone: receives the sound and converts it into an
electrical signal.
Amplifier: digital processor that receives the signal and adapts
it to the parameters introduced for each loss.
Receiver: converts the electrical signal back into sound and
transmits it into the user's ear.
Telecoil: captures variations in magnetic fields and
transforms them into electric signals.

EXPLANATION OF SYMBOLS
This symbol indicates unsafe situations or
procedures that may lead to injury or cause
damage to your hearing aid or any of its
components.
Operating instructions.
This symbol indicates that it is important to
follow the advice and warnings contained in this
document.
The CE Mark enables Microson to conrm that its
hearing aids comply with European Union Council
Directive 93/42/EEC concerning medical devices.
This symbol indicates that the products described
in this User Manual adhere to the requirements
for a Type B component under IEC 60601-2-66.
The surface of the hearing aid is specied as a B
component.
The symbol warns you that this hearing aid may
not be disposed of with normal household waste.
Please return your hearing aid to your hearing
care specialist or to a collection point for safe,
environmentally-friendly disposal.
WARNING!
• Batteries are dangerous if swallowed. Keep batteries out
of the reach of children or mentally disabled persons.
• Please check before using your hearing aid in areas with
restrictions for electronic or wireless devices (for example,
on airplanes).
• Never use your hearing aids in places where there is
medical equipment (X-ray, high frequency, magnetic
resonance or short-wave therapy treatments).
• Do not use a hearing aid in areas where there is a risk of
explosion or in oxygen-rich environments!
• Stay away from strong electromagnetic fields.
• People with pacemakers or magnetic valves should maintain
their hearing aids at a minimum distance of 15 cm. If you detect
any interference, please read the safety instructions provided
by the manufacturer of the implant. Metal detectors and alarms
may cause interference or unexpected sounds.
• CIMA FRONT BTE / CIMA FRONT II BTE hearing aids can
generate sound output levels in excess of 132 dBSPL.
CAUTION!
• Protect your hearing aids against moisture and sources of
heat.
• Do not use your hearing aids while showering, swimming
or spraying your hair.
• Protect your hearing aids from hard knocks.
• Never use a microwave or other heating devices to dry
your hearing aids.

DESCRIPTION OF YOUR HEARING AID BATTERY (INSERTION AND REPLACEMENT)
1. Open the battery compartment.
2. Remove the battery protector and
place the new battery with the “+”
symbol facing upwards. Close the battery
compartment.
3. To remove the battery, turn the hearing
aid upside down, open the battery
compartment and allow it to drop into
your hand.
REMEMBER THAT YOUR HEARING AID WILL WARN YOU VIA THREE AUDIBLE TONES
WHEN THE BATTERY IS DEAD.
If the battery is not inserted correctly,
the hearing aid will not work.
INFORMATION
- Remove the batteries if you do not intend to use your
hearing aids for a long time.
- Replace spent batteries immediately.
- Do not dispose of spent batteries with normal household
waste! Take them to the hearing care specialist for proper
disposal without harming the environment.

The volume control allows you to adjust
the amplification of your hearing aid.
Use a finger to rotate the volume control
wheel, as indicated in the figure.
Number 1 is the lowest level.
Number 4 is the highest level.
Your hearing aid is equipped with a
battery holder locking system. This lock
prevents undesired accidental opening
of the compartment.
It is also recommended when the hearing
aid is for a child, because removal and
replacement of the battery must be done
under adult supervision. This element
is located in the upper portion of the
opening tab of the battery compartment.
To prevent opening, insert a small
screwdriver and slide it to one side.
Unlocking it can only be done by sliding
the safety back to its original position
with the help of a small screwdriver.

To turn on your hearing aid, close the
battery compartment.

To turn off your hearing aid, partially open
the battery compartment.

AUDIO INPUT
AUDIO SHOE

Your hearing aid has a built-in audio input jack. This allows you
to connect your hearing aid to other audio equipment with
FM system, television or various audio equipment. It transmits
the source sound1 directly to your hearing aid, which keeps
the signal clear and free of external interference.
Only use the Audio Shoe designed specifically for the hearing
aid.
WARNING!
Risk of injury by electrical shock!
Connect the audio input only to devices that comply with
IEC 60065 (IEC standard for audio, video and other electronic
devices).
2. Pull the shoe outwards until it separates
from the hearing aid.
3. Close the connector top, hiding the
contacts below it.

shoe with the other.

position, lift the top of the connector and
close the battery holder again.

the jack contacts with those that are now
visible on the hearing aid.

PROGRAMS PUSH BUTTON
Your hearing aid comes with a push button that permits the
selection of an appropriate program.
As you press the push button, you will hear
tones indicating the program you are using.
Example: Two tones for program 2.
Each program will permit you to better adapt
to different environments or situations of
everyday life.
Follow the instructions of your audio
prosthetist to get the most out of your
hearing aid.
Your hearing aid complies with the IEC 60118-13 standard regarding electromagnetic compatibility.

Your CIMA FRONT BTE is equipped with an
auto-telephone feature which allows you
to automatically select the best program
for hearing the telephone when you
bring it close to your ear. (See automatic
activation)
When you finish speaking and remove
the telephone from your ear, the hearing
aid will return to the program it was using
before the call.
If you wish the auto-telephone option to
activate automatically, you must place the
magnetic accessory on the earpiece of your
telephone.
Move the magnet slightly until you find
the optimal position* to obtain a reliable
connection and pleasant hearing. Next,
remove the protective element and place
your accessory on the earpiece.

MAGNETS (SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS)
CAUTION!
• Magnets can aect certain electronic devices. Make sure
to never place magnets on monitors, television sets or
other electronic apparatuses.
• Make sure to maintain distance between magnets and
credit cards, CDs and DVDs and other objects that are
sensitive to magnetic fields (more than 30 cm).
WARNING!
• Magnets can interfere with the operation of some medical
devices, such as pacemakers, magnetic valves, etc.
• Users who carry a pacemaker should follow the safety
instructions provided by the manufacturer of the pacemaker.
You should only use the magnetic accessory if you have no
doubts about the safety distance (at least 15 cm).
• Keep the magnets out of the reach of children or people
with mental impairment. Consult a doctor if the magnet is
swallowed.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
INFORMATION
• Clean your ear moulds regularly, using specially designed
wipe. (Ask your hearing care specialist).
• Regular use of a dehumidifier is recommended to keep
your hearing aids in optimum working conditions. (Ask
your hearing care specialist).
• Always have a spare battery available.
• It is advisable to replace the tube connecting the mould and
the hearing aid once it starts to turn yellow or becomes rigid.
ATTENTION!
• Do not clean your hearing aids with alcohol, hydrogen
peroxide or detergents: use a soft, moist cloth.
• Do not immerse your hearing aids in liquid!
Do not wash your hearing aids! Keep them dry and
protected from humidity or damp.
MOULDS
Cerumen (ear wax) in the custom made moulds
affects sound quality.
Clean the custom made moulds immediately after
removing the hearing aids with a soft cloth.
No other tools required.

INSERTING AND PLACING THE HEARING AID
CUSTOM MADE MOULDS
WARNING!
• Risk of injuries caused by incorrect use of the custom
made moulds.
• Always use the standard tube with the custom made
mould.
• Make sure that the custom made moulds are
correctly attached to the standard tube.
• If the custom made mould becomes lodged in the
ear, ask a medical professional to remove it.
• Carefully insert the custom made mould in the ear
without inserting it too far.
• Only use the standard tube and the custom made
mould as described in this User Manual.
1. Carefully insert your custom made moulds into the
ear canal.
2. Place the hearing aid behind the ear.
3. Check that the device is correctly supported.
The CE Mark enables Microson to confirm that
its hearing aids comply with European Directive
93/42/EEC concerning medical devices.
