1 OVERVIEW
The NuTiny-N76S003AT is an evaluation board for Nuvoton NuMicro N76S003AT20 microcontrollers.
The NuTiny-N76S003AT consists of two parts: an N76S003 target board and an on-board Nu-Link2-
Me debugger and programmer. The NuTiny-N76S003AT is designed for project evaluation, prototype
development and validation with power consumption monitoring function. The NuTiny-N76S003AT
board is suitable for a wide range of applications such as home appliances, LED lighting controls,
motor controls or Industrial automation.
The N76S003 target board is based on NuMicro N76S003AT20. For the development flexibility, the
N76S003AT20 target board provides the extension connectors, Furthermore, the Nuvoton-designed
ammeter connector can measure the power consumption instantly, which is essential for the prototype
evaluation.
In addition, there is an attached on-board debugger and programmer “Nu-Link2-Me”. The Nu-Link2-
Me supports on-chip debugging, online and offline ICP programming via SWD interface. The Nu-
Link2-Me supports virtual COM (VCOM) port for printing debug messages on PC. Besides, the
programming status could be shown on the built-in LEDs. Lastly, the Nu-Link2-Me could be detached
from the evaluation board and become a stand-alone mass production programmer.

NuTiny-N76S003AT uses the N76S003AT20 as the target microcontroller. Figure 3.1-1 NuTiny-
N76S003AT (PCB Board)
is NuTiny-N76S003AT for the N76S003 series, the left portion is called NuTiny-N76S003AT and the
right portion is Debug Adaptor called Nu-Link-Me.
NuTiny-N76S003AT is similar to other development boards. User can use it to develop and verify
applications to emulate the real behavior. The on-board chip covers N76S003 series features. The
NuTiny-N76S003AT can be a real system controller to design user’s target systems.
Nu-Link-Me is a Debug Adaptor. The Nu-Link-Me Debug Adaptor connects your PC's USB port to the
user’s target system (via Serial Wired Debug Port) and allows user to program and debug embedded
programs on the target hardware. To use Nu-Link-Me Debug adaptor with Keil, please refer to
“Nuvoton Nu-Link debug adapter user manual” in detail. This document will be stored in the local hard
disk when user installs each driver. Nu-Link-Me also supports virtual COM port function. User can use
Nu-Link-Me as a USB to UART virtual COM port, which connects to on-board N76S003 AT20 UART0.

Virtual COM Port Switch Description
The switch in Nu-Link-Me, SW3, determines that the virtual COM port function is enabled or disabled.
When user turns on all of the positions of switch, the virtual COM port function will be enabled. By
using virtual COM port function, user can access the USB device in the same way as it would access
a standard COM port to N76S003 AT20 UART0. To use this function, user needs to install “VCOM
Driver” at first. User can get “VCOM Driver” from NuMicroDVD www.nuvoton.com\NuMicroDVD in
folder “Software Utilities”.

Install the preferred toolchain. Please make sure at least one of the toolchains has been installed.

Nuvoton Nu-Link Driver Installation
Download and install the latest Nuvoton Nu-Link Driver.
⚫Download and install Nu-Link_Keil_Driver when using Keil MDK.
⚫Download and install Nu-Link_IAR_Driver when using IAR EWARM.
Please install the Nu-Link USB Driver as well at the end of the installation. The installation is
presented in Figure 4.2-1 Nu-Link USB Driver Installation Setup and Figure 4.2-2.

BSP Firmware Download
Download and unzip the Board Support Package (BSP).
Hardware Setup
1. Open the virtual COM (VCOM) function by changing Nu-Link2-Me VCOM Switch No. 1 and 2
to ON.

2. Connect the ICE USB connector shown in Figure 4.4-2 to the PC USB port through a USB
cable.

3. Find the “Nuvoton Virtual COM Port” on the Device Manger as Figure 4.4-3.

4. Open a serial port terminal, PuTTY for example, to print out debug message. Set the speed to
115200. Figure 4.4-4 presents the PuTTY session setting.

Find the Example Project
Use the “Template” project as an example. The project can be found under the BSP folder as shown
in Figure 4.5-1.

Execute the Project under Toolchains
Open and execute the project under the toolchain. The section 4.6.1 and 4.6.2 describe the steps of
executing project in Keil MDK and IAR EWARM, respectively.
4.6.1 Keil MDK
This section provides steps to beginners on how to run a project by using Keil MDK.
