Install the DC1 Board on an EVM
1. Remove all power connections from the EVM.
2. Review the EVM’s User Manual and disable any peripheral resource which you plan to use on the TDC1 board. For example, if
you are using a 56 5 EVM board and plan to use the ESSI Port #0 to communicate with the codecs on the TDC1 board, then the
ESSI Port #0 jumpers for the audio codec will need to be removed on the EVM board.
3. Connect the TDC1 to the EVM
• Align connectors P1 and P2 on the bottom of the TDC1 board above the 56 52EVM, 56 5 EVM, 56F 26EVM or the
56F 27EVM board’s connectors (J1 and J2,
respectively). The Keypad, Display and DAA portion of the TDC1 board whould be to the left side of the EVM.
• Press firmly on the TDC1 board above these two
connectors.
Configure the 56800 DCEVM Board
The TDC1board is shipped with all jumper blocks in the default configuration,
shown in the table at right.
For more information about jumper settings, refer to the TDC1 Hardware User’s
Manual (located on the Resource CD-ROM).

1. Follow the EVM’s Quick Installation Guide or the appropriate User’s Manual recommendations for connecting the 56 52EVM,
56 5 EVM, 56F 26EVM or56F 27EVM to your computer.
NO E: If a 56F826EVM or 56F827EVM is used with the DC1, the jumper at JG5 must be removed.
2. Plug the power supply into the power jack on the EVM board.
3. Plug the +12V DC power supply into an AC outlet.
IP: To protect the equipment from power source surges, the +12V DC power supply should be plugged into a surge-protected power
strip.
