Safety Guidelines
Thefollowinggeneralguidelines,togetherwiththeinstructionsprovided
throughoutthisuserguide,ensureusersafetywhileoperatingand
maintainingtheEden260system.Ifthesystemisnotoperatedasspecified,
theuserʹssafetymaybecompromised.
Eden Printer ¾InstallationandremovaloftheEdenprintershouldonlybedoneby
qualifiedservicepersonnel.
¾TheEdenprintershouldonlybeoperatedbypersonstrainedbyan
Objetcustomer‐supportrepresentative.
¾Serviceoperationsshouldbeperformedonlybypersonnelwhohave
beeninstructedinrelevantsafetyprecautions.
¾AllpersonneloperatingormaintainingtheEdenprintershouldknow
thelocationoffirstaidandemergencyequipmentandhowtouseit.
Neverblockaccesstothisequipment.
¾Neverattempttoopenthemaincoveroftheprinterwhileitisworking.
¾Neverbypasstheinterlocksafetyswitch.
¾Iftheinterlocksafetyswitcheverfails,orifservicingisevernecessary
whilethemaincoverisopen,neverstaredirectlyattheUVlamp
withoutglassesthatscreenoutUVradiation.Forthispurpose,
ordinarysunglasseswithUVscreeningareadequate.
¾Neverconnectthepowerplugtoasocketthatdoesnothaveaground
(earth)wire,andneverdisconnecttheground.Doingsomayexpose
theoperatortoseriousdangerfromelectricshock.
¾Thepowercableshouldbeconnectedataneasilyaccessibleelectric
socketneartheprinter.
¾Neverinsertscrewdrivers,wires,orotherobjectsintothepowersupply
housing.
¾Leaveaminimumof15centimetersbetweenventilationopeningsand
wallsorotherobjects.
¾Severalpartsoftheprinterremainextremelyhotevenafterithas
stoppedoperating.Avoidtouchingthemainpowersupply,theUV‐
lamppowersupply,UVlamps,andtheprintingheads.
¾Notifyco‐workersandthosewhohaveaccesstotheEdensystembefore
beginningnon‐routineandhazardouswork.
¾Reportanypotentialdangersandsafety‐relatedaccidentstoyour
safetyofficerortootherappropriateauthorities.

Material
Modelandsupportmaterialsaremadeofresins.Althoughprecautions
mustbetakenwhenhandlingresinsdirectly,allmodelandsupport
materialsusedbytheEdensystemarehandledinsealedcartridges.
Normally,operatorsoftheEdenprintershouldneverbedirectlyexposed
todangerousmaterials.Mostofthefollowingrecommendationsfor
handlingresinsapplytotheunlikelyeventofaleakorspill.Ifthisshould
occur,followthespecificinstructionsprintedontheresincartridgeused.
¾Resinsareflammable.Storecartridgesofmodelandsupportmaterials
indoors,inadryareawithadequateventilation,between16‐27degrees
Celsius(60‐81degreesFahrenheit).Neverexposethemtoflames,heat
orsparks.
¾Keepresinsawayfromareaswherefoodanddrinkarestored,
preparedandconsumed.
¾Uncuredresinistoxic.Ensurethatresindoesnotcomeincontactwith
theeyes.Ifthereisanychancethatresinmaysplashintotheeyes,wear
safetygoggles.Minimizedirectcontactwiththeskintoprevent
irritationandotherhealthhazards.Prolongedcontactmaycauseburns.
¾Topreventrespiratoryirritation,ventilateallareaswhereresinsare
directlyhandledorexposedtotheair.Theventilationsystemshould
totallyreplacetheair20timesperhour.
¾Cleanresinspillswithdisposabletowelsorotherabsorbent,non‐
reusablematerial,suchassawdustoractivatedcharcoal.Rinsethespill
areawithdenaturedorisopropylalcohol(IPA),followedbysoapand
water.Disposeoftheabsorbentmaterialinaccordancewithlocal
regulations.
¾Donotwashcontaminatedclothingathome;clothingshouldbe
professionallylaundered.
¾Disposeofcontaminatedshoes,beltsandotherleatheritems.Absorbed
resinmayre‐exposetheuserwhentheseitemsarewornagain.

First Aid for Working With Resins
Ingeneral,trytoavoiddirectcontactwithuncuredresin.Ifskinoreyes
comesintocontactwithresin,washtheareaimmediatelyandthoroughly
withwater,andfollowthefirst‐aidinstructionsbelow.
Contact with
Skin
Ifuncuredresincomesincontactwithskin,washtheaffectedarea
immediatelyandthoroughlywithsoapandcoolwater,thenremove
contaminatedclothing.Payparticularattentiontoflushingthehair,ears,
noseandotherpartsofthebodythatarenoteasilycleaned.
¾Usecoolwatertopreventskinporesfromopening,sothattheresin
doesnoteasilypenetratetheskin.
¾Donotusesolventstocleanskin.
¾Iflargeareasofskinhavebeenexposedtoresin,orifprolongedcontact
resultsinblisters,seekmedicalattention.
¾Avoidtheaccidentaltransferofresinfromthehandstootherareasof
thebody,especiallytotheeyes.
¾Ifprotectivecreamwasused,donotreapplyituntiltheskinhasbeen
completelycleansed.

Eyes
Ifuncuredresincomesincontactwiththeeyes,flushimmediatelywith
largeamountsofwaterfor15minutesandseekmedicalattention.
¾Avoidsunlight,fluorescentlight,andothersourcesofultraviolet
radiation.
Thewearingofcontactlenseswhenworkingnearresinisnot
recommended.Ifresinsplashesintotheeyeswhencontactlensesareworn,
immediatelyremovethelensesandflushtheeyeswithwater.
¾Cleananddisinfectthecontaminatedlenses.
¾Donotwearcontactlensesuntileyeirritationdisappears.
Ingestion Ifresinisswallowed,refertothecartridgelabelforspecificinstructions.
Seekmedicalattentionimmediately.
Inhalation Resinvaporscanbeirritatingtotherespiratorysystem.Ifrespiratory
irritationoccurs,exposethevictimtofreshairimmediately.
¾Ifthevictimhasstoppedbreathing,performartificialrespirationor
cardiopulmonaryresuscitation.
¾Seekmedicalattentionimmediately.
¾Keepthepatientwarmbutnothot.
¾Neverfeedanythingbymouthtoanunconsciousperson.
¾Oxygenshouldbeadministeredbyauthorizedpersonnelonly.

Waste Disposal
Fullycuredresinspresentnospecialsafetyorhealth‐relatedissues.
However,checkiflocalregulationsregardcuredandpartiallycuredresins
ashazardousindustrialwaste,andcomplywithallapplicableregulations
governingtheirdisposal.
¾WhenremovingthewastecontainerfromtheEdenprinter,protective
glovesarenotrequired.Whendirectlyhandlinguncuredresins,
neopreneornitrileglovesarerecommended.
¾Whenhandlingcuredmaterialsthatmaynotbecompletelycuredon
thesurface,commonlatexglovesareadequate.
¾Evenifnotclassifiedashazardousindustrialwasteorotherwise
regulated,resinmaterialsmustbepackagedanddisposedofina
mannerthatpreventshumancontactwiththewaste.Therefore,take
stepstopreventthecontaminationofbothgroundwaterandsurface
water.
¾Emptyresincartridgesaresealedtopreventleakage.Donotattemptto
reusethem,anddonotpuncturethem.
¾Discardcontaminatedclothing,shoes,emptycontainers,etc.,in
accordancewithanyapplicablelawsandregulations.
