Printer Setup

Remove cardboard overpack revealing contents.
(1) Printer
(2) Light-shield bags
(3) 15A Power Cord
(4) Toner Cartridges
(5) Ferrite Core for network cable
(6) CDs
(7) Paper holding arm

Remove top packing pieces and open the protective plastic bag.

Select a location where you have sufficient access space.

1. Lift printer and place it on selected location.
2. Remove any shipping tape.

Install the paper holding arm:
1. Lift up the paper holding arm cover.
2. Snap the paper holding arm into place.
3. Snap the tab on the cover into the slot in the paper holding arm.

Lift the top cover.

Remove the orange shipping restraints located at the front and rear of each
image drum.

Remove tape and pull out the protective sheet from each image drum.

Remove the orange plastic shipping clips from both ends of each image drum.

Remove tape and pull out the orange toner well covers from each image drum.
Note: We suggest you retain these covers in the event the printer needs to be
shipped.

Install toner cartridges:
1. Shake toner cartridge from side to side to distribute toner.
2. Remove sealing tape from toner cartridge.

1. Place opening on left end of toner cartridge on image drum peg (1).
2. Slide right end of toner cartridge down into image drum.

1. Lock toner cartridge with the colored lever.
2. Repeat toner installation with remaining toner cartridges.

Close the cover.
Note: When closing the cover, it will STOP part-way for safety. Then, push harder
until cover is completely closed.

Load paper:
1. Pull out the paper tray. Remove and discard the shipping retainer (a).
2. Press the paper rear stopper tab (1) and adjust the tab to the paper size.

1. Fan the paper stack then tap the edges on a flat surface to make it flush.
2. Load paper (face down, top edge to right for letterhead paper).
3. Press tab (2) on the paper guides (3) to adjust for paper size and a snug fit
to the paper.

Gently replace the paper tray.

For better viewing, the control panel can be swiveled up to 90 degrees upward from
its base position (1).

Insert the power cable.
CAUTION!
Be sure to use 15A AC power cord supplied with the printer. Use of a power cord
NOT supplied with this printer, or an extension cord, may result in overheating,
and could be a safety hazard.
Do not connect this product to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). For further

Remove the backing from the Velcro®strip on the back of the Handy Reference
Guide and apply the guide to the printer.
