Introduction
Thankyouforpurchasing theOMRONCompAir.
Thisproductwasdevelopedinconjunction withrespiratory therapistsforthe
successful treatmentof asthma,chronicbronchitis,allergiesand otherrespiratory
disorders. The compressorforcesairtothe nebuliser.When the airenters the
nebuliser,itconvertsthe prescribed medication intoanaerosol ofmicroscopic
dropletsthatcan easilybe inhaled.
TheCompAirisamedical device.Operatethisdeviceonlyasinstructedbyyour
doctorand/orrespiratorytherapist.

Read alltheinformation inthe instruction manual andanyotherliteratureincluded
inthe boxbeforeusing thedevice.
Whenusing an electricalproduct, especiallywhen children arepresent,basic
safetyprecautionsshould always be followed including thefollowing:

•Clean and disinfectthe nebuliserkit,mouthpieceand optionalnosepieceor
masksbeforeusing themforthefirsttimeafterpurchase,ifthe devicehasnot
been used foralong period oftime,orifmorethanoneperson usesthe same
device.
•Besuretowashthe partsafteruse,andensurethattheyarethoroughly
disinfected and dried, andstored inaclean location.
•Keepthe deviceoutofthe reachofunsupervisedinfantsand children.The
devicemaycontain smallpiecesthat canbeswallowed.
•Storethe deviceand accessoriesinacleanlocation.
•Donotstoretheairtube whilethereismoistureormedication remaining inside it.
•Alwaysrinsethe nebulising partswithcleanhottap waterafterdisinfecting them.
Neverleavethecleaningsolutioninthe medication tankormouthpiece.
•Donot useorstorethe devicewhereitmaybe exposed tonoxiousfumesor
volatile substances.
•Donot usethe devicewhereitmaybeexposedtoflammablegas.
•Donot block theventilation slots. Neverplacethedevicewherethe ventilation
slotsmaybeobstructedduring operation.Do notcoverthecompressorwitha
blanketortowel etc.,during use.
•Makesurethatthe nebuliserkit iscleanbeforeuse.
•Always disposeofanyremaining medication afteruse, andusefreshmedication
eachtime.
•Donot useinanaestheticorventilatorbreathingcircuits.

•Neverunplug the powercordwithwet hands.
•The compressorandpowercordarenotwaterproof.Donotspillwater,orother
liquids, on theseparts.If liquid doesspillon theseparts,immediatelyunplugthe
powercordand wipe off theliquid withgauzeorotherabsorbentmaterial.

•Donottilt the nebuliserkitsothatitisatan angle ofgreaterthan 45°,orshakeit
while in use.
•Donot useorstorethe devicewhile the airtube iscreased.
•Useonlyoriginal nebulisingparts,airtube, airfilterand filtercover.
•Donot add morethan 7mlofmedication tothe medication tank.
•Donot carry orleavethe nebuliserkitwhile themedication tankcontains
medication.
•Donot leavethe unitunattended withinfantsorpersonswho cannotexpress
theirconsent.
•Donotsubjectthe deviceorthepartstoanystrongshocks suchasdroppingthe
deviceon thefloor.
•Donot distortthe vaporiserhead,orjab thenozzleof the medication tankwitha
pin etc.
•Donot insert fingers orobjectsinside the compressor.
•Donot disassembleorattempttorepairthe compressororpowercord.
•Donot block theairfiltercover.
•When sterilisingpartsbyboiling,makesurethatthe containerdoesnotboil dry.
•Neverplace,orattempttodry the compressor, the powercordornebuliserina
microwaveoven.
•Donot usethe devicewhilesleeping orifdrowsy.

General SafetyPrecautions:
•Inspectthedeviceandpartsbeforeusing themeachtime,and check thatthere
areno problems.Inparticular,be suretocheck the following:
-Thatthevaporiserhead,nozzleorairtube arenotdamaged.
-Thatthenozzleisnotblocked.
-Thatthecompressoroperatesnormally.
•When using thisdevice,therewill be somenoiseand vibration caused bythe
pumpin the compressor.Therewillalsobe somenoisecausedbytheemission
of compressed airfromthenebuliserkit. Thisisnormalanddoesnotindicatea
malfunction.
•Operatethe deviceonlyasintended. Do notusethe deviceforanyother
purpose.
•Donot usethe deviceat temperaturesgreaterthan+40°C.
•Makesurethattheairtube issecurelyattachedtothecompressor(main unit)
and nebuliserkit,and doesnot comeloose.Twist theairtube plug slightlywhen
insertingitintothe connectors toavoidthe tubedisconnectingduring use.
•The plug isprovidedsothat the unitcan becompletelyisolated fromthepower
source.Tocompletelyisolatethe unitfromthe powersourceunplugthe plug from
thepowersource.

whileitcontainscondensation ormoisture.Thiscouldresultin
infectionviabacteria.
If thereismoistureorliquid remaininginthe airtube,besuretofollowthe
procedurebelow toremoveanymoisturefromwithin the airtube.
1)Makesurethattheairtube isstillconnected totheairconnectoronthe
compressor.
2)Unplug the airtubefromthe nebuliserkit.
3)Turnon thecompressorandpumpairthroughthe airtubetoexpel the
moisture.

5.Cleaninganddailydisinfecting
5.1Cleaning
Following the cleaning instructionsaftereachusewillpreventanyremaining
medication in the tankfromdrying, resulting in the devicenot nebulisingeffectively
and alsoforpreventing infections.
Warning:
Thoroughlyrinse thenebuliser and themask, nosepiece ormouthpiecewith
cleanhottap water after eachuse,and disinfectthepartsofthenebuliser kit
andapplicableinhalationattachmentsafter thelasttreatmentoftheday.
Note: Do notstart operation beforethe cleaned partsarecompletelydried.
1. Makesurethatthe powerswitchisinthe (off)position.
2. Unplug the powercordfromthe electrical outlet.
3. Removethenebuliserkitfromtheairtube and disassemblethenebuliser
kit.(seeSection 3)
4. Discardanyremaining medication in the
medication tank.
5. Washallthe nebulising partsin warm waterand mild detergentand rinsein
cleanhottap water,orwashinadishwasher.
Forinstructionson how todisinfectthe parts,see the following section.
6. Aftercleaning and disinfecting the parts, rinsethemthoroughlywithclean
waterand allow thepartstoairdryin aclean environment.

soft clothmoistened withwaterormild
detergent.
Caution:
Thecompressorisnotwaterproof.
8. If the outsideofthe airtube isdirty,wipeitclean withasoft clothmoistened
withwaterormild detergent.
9. Reassemblethe nebuliserkit.Putthe partsin adry,sealed bag and place
in the storagepocket ofthe carryingbag.
Note: Nebuliserkit should be replaced afterusing for6months.
5.2Disinfectingthenebulisingparts
Always cleanbeforedisinfection.(See Section 5.1)
Always disinfect the medication tank,mouthpieceandothernebulisingpartsafter
thelasttreatment oftheday. Todisinfectthe parts,useoneof the methods
describedbelow:
A. Useacommerciallyavailabledisinfectant.Follow theinstructionsprovided by
the disinfectantmanufacturer.
1. Submerge thepartsinthe cleansing solution forthe specified period.
2. Removethe partsand discardthe solution.
3. Rinsethe partswithcleanhot tap water,shakeoff excess waterand allow
toairdry in aclean environment.
B. Partsmaybe boiled between 15 to20 minutes(exceptforPVCmask).
Afterboiling,carefullyremovethe parts,shakeoffexcesswaterand allowtoairdry
inaclean environment.

Handling theVaporiserHead
The vaporiserhead isan importantpartthatisusedtovaporisemedication.
Besuretoobservethe followingprecautionswhen handling it.
Caution:
•Alwayswashthevaporiserheadafter each
use.Failure todosocouldcause blockages
andadeteriorationinyourconditionduetoa
failuretovaporise medicationeffectively.
•Donotuse abrushorpinetc., tocleanthe
parts.Thiscoulddamagethebaffleand cause
adeteriorationinyourconditionduetoafail-
ure tovaporisemedicationeffectively.
•When disinfectingthepartsbyboiling,be
sureto boilthem inplentyofwater.Ifthereis
insufficientwater, thepartscouldbecome dis-
tortedduetothehightemperature near the
bottomofthepan.Distortedpartscould
causeadeteriorationinyourconditionduetoafailure tovaporise medi-
cationeffectively.
•Donotboil vaporiserheadtogetherwithother objects, otherthanappli-
cablenebuliser accessories. Thiscoulddamagethebaffleandcausea
deteriorationinyourcondition duetoafailure tovaporise medication
effectively.
•Donotuse amicrowave oven, dishdryerorhairdryer todry parts. The
partscouldbecome distortedduetothehightemperatureand cause a
deteriorationinyourcondition duetoafailure tovaporise medication
effectively.

6.Maintenanceand storage
Tokeepyourdeviceinthe bestconditionandprotectthe devicefromdamage
followthesedirections:
Caution:
•Donotleave theunitunattendedwithinfantsorpersonswhocannot
express theirconsent.
•Donotsubjectthedevice orthepartstoanystrongshocks suchas
droppingthedeviceonthefloor.
Notes:
•Donot storethe devicein extremehotorcold temperatures,high humidityor
underdirectsunlight.
•Donot creaseorfold the airtube.
•Disposeofthedeviceandanyused accessoriesoroptionalpartsaccording to
applicablelocal regulations.
•Neverclean withbenzene,thinneroraflammable
chemical.
Always transportthedevicein itscarrying bag,and storethe devicein thebag ifit
willnot be usedforalong period.
Caution:
Donotcarry orleave thenebuliserwhilethemedicationtankcontains
medication.



