MB—High Pressure Drain Kit 2 (248) 628-6400
To install the high pressure drain kit:
1. Depressurize the component that will be drained.
2. Connect the inlet of the drain kit to the component that will be drained. Use pipe dope, Teflon®tape, or
equivalent.
3. Connect the drain line to the outlet fitting of the high pressure drain kit. Run the drain line to a suitable
container for condensate storage. If flexible tubing is used, fasten the drain line to prevent it from whipping
when the condensate discharges.
Because the condensate might contain oil, regulations prohibit the discharge of condensate into storm sewers,
surface waters, or waste treatment facilities.
OPERATION:
Do not operate the high pressure drains outside the following pressure and temperature ranges:
Part Number Max. Pressure Max. Temperature
(at Max. Pressure)
JDK5000H 5000 psi 100 ºF
JDK5000V 5000 psi 100 ºF
SJDK6000H 6000 psi 100 ºF
SJDK6000V 6000 psi 100 ºF
To operate the high pressure drain kit:
1. After installing the drain kit, close both needle valves.
2. Repressurize the system slowly.
3. Open the first needle valve. The second needle valve should remain closed. The liquid will now empty into
the drain’s high pressure reservoir, filling the internal volume with liquid.
4. When it is time to expel the liquid from the drain kit (usually on a preventative maintenance schedule), the first
needle valve should be closed to shut off system pressure to the drain.
5. The second needle valve should be opened SLOWLY since the liquid will discharge rapidly from the drain
reservoir. Empty all of the liquid from the drain reservoir.
6. CLOSE THE SECOND NEEDLE VALVE.
7. Open the first needle valve to begin collecting more liquid.
8. Repeat procedure until all of the liquid has been removed from the filter bowl and drain reservoir.
9. Collect and dispose of liquid in accordance with local regulations.
MAINTENANCE:
Preventative maintenance
The following simple steps will ensure reliable operation of the drain kit:
1. Check condensate levels daily to determine proper drain intervals.
2. Monitor drain kit daily to ensure proper operation.
WARNING
COMPRESSED GAS CAN BE DANGEROUS. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS MUST BE OBSERVED IN THE USE OF
COMPRESSED GASES AND COMPRESSED GAS EQUIPMENT. BEFORE DOING ANY WORK ON THE HIGH
PRESSURE DRAIN KIT, DEPRESSURIZE THE SYSTEM COMPLETELY.
