1. Introduction
The Airtek DB1000 Remote Dew Point Monitor measures dew point in the
range –148º F to +68º F. The current output is standard and factory set at 4-
20mA. The DB1000 operates as a 4-20mA transmitter providing a linear
analog output to the external remote monitor.

2. Mechanical Installation
2.1 Depressurization
Prior to installation, be sure to safely depressurize the air system in
accordance with OSHA practices and principles so installation is done in a
safe manner.
2.2 Sample Air Line Installation
Install the sample airline in the piping where the dew point needs to be
monitored. This can include down stream from a suspect or working air
dryer, or in any area where an accurate dew point reading is desired. See
diagram 2.4 of sample airline below.
2.3 Probe Installation
Just prior to installing the probe, be sure to remove the protective plastic
cover and retain for future use. Thread the dew point probe / transmitter in
the sample airline as diagram 2.4 shows. Use the ring provided to obtain a
good seal.

3. Monitor Installation
3.1 Placement
Place the monitor in an area where the dew point is to be read. Because a
10’ cord has been provided, the monitor must be within 10’ of the probe /
transmitter.
3.2 Probe Cable Connection
A 10’ cord is provided for connection between the probe / transmitter and the
monitor. Connect the din connector provided from the monitor cable to the
probe / transmitter. Connect the din connector to the top of the probe and
tighten down the setscrew.

4. Operation
Connect Power
Plug in the monitor using the 6’ 3 prong plug.
Open ball valve After power has been provided to the monitor, open the ball valve on the
sample airline to supply sample air to the probe / transmitter. It typically
takes 15 to 30 minutes for all the components to reach equilibrium with
sample gas.
5.1 Setup & Programming
The monitor comes completely setup and programmed. There is no need to
make any adjustments to the monitor except to program the relay(s) for a
remote alarm or whatever you desire. Re-programming the monitor is very
easy using the simple four-button programming method. There is only one
switch on the entire meter, no jumpers, and no need to ever open the case.
5.2 Menu Structure
To simplify programming, the monitors setup functions are divided into two
menus. A main menu handles all the basic setup functions. An advanced
feature menu handles the special functions not commonly used.

how the monitor is programmed.
Press the Menu button to enter or exit the programming mode at any
time.
Press the Right arrow button to move to the next digit during digit
programming.
Press the Up arrow button to scroll through the menus, decimal point or
to acknowledge relays.
Press Enter / Ack button to access a menu, accept a setting, or to
acknowledge relays.
5.3 Setting Numeric Values.
The numeric values are set using the Right and Up arrow buttons. Press the
Right arrow button to select the next digit and the Up arrow button to
increment digit value.
The digit being changed is displayed brighter than the rest.

Press the Enter / Ack button, at any time, to accept a setting or Menu button
to exit without saving changes,
5.4 Main Menu
The main menu consists of the three most commonly used functions; Setup,
Program, and Password. Press Menu button to enter the Programming
Mode then press Up arrow button to scroll the main menu. To verify
Programing/ Re-program the unit please follow the following steps:
Button 1 being the menu and going right from there
Button 2, reset. Button 3, max. Button 4, ack.
1) Energize display. If possible leave probe detached.
2) Press button 1, should read SETUP.
3) Press button 4 until dd.dd appears.
4) Press button 3 until decimal point appears in right spot (ddd.d).
5) Press menu to exit
6) Press button 1 to set up parameters.
7) Press button 3.
8) Press button 4 until “scal” appears.
9) Press button 4, inp 1 appears, press button 4, and it should read 4.0
10)Press button 4 displ 1 appears, press button 4, using buttons 2, & 3 will change the number
and position. Position can be identified by brighter character. This is good for steps 9 thru 12.
Change display until -148 appears.

11)Press button 4, inp 2 appears, press button 4, and it should read 20.0
12)Press button 4, dspl 2 appears, press button 4, using buttons 2, & 3 will change the number
and position change display until it reads 68.0.
13)Press button 4 to finish and save, if the probe is attached the display will change to a reading
and after approximately 10 seconds flash to real dew point. If the probe is not attached it
should flash -199.9.
If display continues to read -199.9 the following are possibilities:
Input selected in setup menu
TC/RTD switch position. (Dip switch on back of module)
Corresponding signal at signal connector
6. Probe Recalibration
Routine maintenance of the DB1000 probe / transmitter is confined to regular
re-calibrations. This work can only be done by exposure of the moisture
sensor to sample gases of known moisture content. The manufacturer of the
probe provides calibration services traceable to NIST. Contact Airtek for
further details.
7. Warranty
The DB1000 is equipped with a 1-year parts and labor warranty. The DB1000
is guaranteed to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period
of 1-year from date of shipment. This warranty does not include recalibration
of probe or meter. For the warranty to be valid, the customer must call our
service dept. and speak with a service representative. No warranty claims will
be honored without first speaking with an Airtek customer service
representative.
