ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS • INSTRUCTIONS D’ASSEMBLAGE
HOW CAN YOU ASSEMBLE THE RUDDER?
IMPORTANT: Install the rudder before cutting the tie wrap. Use a manual screwdriver only
(do not use a drill or an electric screwdriver).
A) Remove the rudder assembly kit and its bracket from the oval Quick Lock hatch (rear of the kayak).
Unscrew the nut from the bolt to remove the rudder bracket from the rudder.
B) Lift the kayak hull to access to hull keel.
C) Unscrew the two keel extension screws and leave the keel extension in place. Align the rudder bracket holes with
the keel extension holes then put the two screws back into the holes and screw them. Start with the upper screw
then screw alternately the two screws by screwing a few threads at a time until tightened.
D) Insert the rudder bolt into the rudder bracket’s holes and screw the hex nut onto the bolt until it touches the bracket
Do not tighten too much as it will bend the bracket.
E) Unscrew the nut from the screw located on the rudder and leave the screw in place. Insert the screw into the rudder
cable stamped eyelet and screw the nut back on the screw. Repeat this step for the second rudder cable.
F) Cut the tie wrap. Put the bungee cord located at the back of the kayak over the rudder blade to hold it in place.
COMMENT POUVEZVOUS INSTALLER LE GOUVERNAIL ?
IMPORTANT: Installez le gouvernail avant de couper l’attache autobloquante « tie wrap ».
Utilisez un tournevis à main seulement (n’utilisez pas de foret ou de tournevis électrique).
A) Retirez le kit d’assemblage du gouvernail et son support du caisson « Quick Lock » oval (arrière du kayak).
Dévissez l’écrou du boulon pour retirer le support du gouvernail.
B) Soulevez la coque de kayak pour accéder à la quille.
C) Dévissez les deux vis de la quille et laissez la quille en place. Alignez les trous du support du gouvernail avec
les trous de la quille, puis remettez les deux vis dans les trous et vissez-les. Commencez par la vis supérieure,
puis vissez alternativement les deux vis en vissant quelques lets à la fois jusqu’à ce qu’elles soient serrées.
D) Insérez le boulon du gouvernail dans les trous du support à gouvernail et vissez l’écrou hexagonal sur le boulon
jusqu’à ce qu’il touche le support à gouvernail. Ne serrez pas trop car le support à gouvernail pliera.
E) Dévissez l’écrou de la vis située sur le gouvernail et laissez la vis en place. Insérez la vis dans l’œillet du câble
de gouvernail et vissez l’écrou sur la vis. Répétez cette étape pour le deuxième câble de gouvernail.
F) Coupez l’attache autobloquante « tie wrap ». Mettez le cordon élastique situé à l’arrière du kayak sur la lame
du gouvernail pour la maintenir en place.
