Before installing this dog door please
read the following step-by-step instructions
carefully. Please note that this product
is not designed to fit into glass.

Measurement and marking
Measure the belly height of your dog. (Fig. 1).
Mark this measurement and draw a straight horizontal line measuring
291mm (111/2”) (Fig. 2). Ensure line height is sufficient to avoid weakening
the base of the door.
Please bear in mind that this line will eventually be the bottom of the hole
you will cut in your door and that the frame of the dog door will be slightly
lower. If necessary, this line may have to be raised slightly to account for this.

PRODUCT IN GLASS.
Fitting the dog door
Your Staywell dog door is fitted with the 4 way locks and security
barrier on the inside of your house.
Before fitting you should remove the security barrier and unlock the pet
door. To do this, push fit the 4 way locking turning handles into position
making sure they are both in the same position. (Fig. 4). Turn the handles
whilst pushing the barrier as indicated. This will allow the security barrier to
be removed. (Fig. 5).
Temporarily place the dog door in the hole and mark screw hole positions
which can be found under the u-shape on the dog door. (Fig.6).
Remove the dog door and drill the holes with a 4.5mm (3/16”) drill bit. (Fig.7).
From the inside of the house, position inside frame. Insert screws through
the drilled holes. If the screws are too long they may need to be cut down
to match the depth of your door. Using over long screws may damage the
pet door. The screws should be removed from the cat flap before cutting.
File down to ensure there are no sharp edges.
Position the outside frame onto the outside of the house and insert the
hexagonal nuts, through the holes provided, as far as they will go until they
‘lock’ in the hexagonal housing.
Once locked in position tighten the bolts, a little at a time, until both frames
lie flush with the door. Make sure that the dog door is vertical (Fig.8).
Your Staywell dog door is now ready to use.

Using the 4 way locking system
Two 4 way locks allow you to control your dog’s access in and out of
your home.
It is a good idea not to use the 4 way lock until your dog is thoroughly
familar with using the door. Your dog may become confused as to why
you have installed it.

Using the barrier locking system
The locking barrier is designed to provide extra security when you are
away from home with your dog. It is not designed to be used for day to
day control of your dog. Press down barrier to release locks. (Fig. 9 & Fig. 10).

Powering the Infra-red dog door
Remove the top cover by pushing firmly on the paw prints
and by pushing upwards. (Fig.11).
Place 4 x AA 1.5V Alkaline Long Life batteries in position (Fig.12).
After you have powered the dog door it emits a low tone bleep indicating
the dog door is ready for programming. In addition to the bleep the red LED
will flash. Replace top cover.

Batteries should be replaced every 3-6 months. Do not use
rechargeable batteries. To increase battery life, place the dog door
in manual mode when not in use (see ‘manual operation’) and fit the
optional locking barrier.
Powering the Infra-red key
Open the collar key by twisting a coin between the two flanges (Fig.13).
Remove battery holder (Fig.14).
Place 1 x CR2 long life battery into the battery holder. The collar key LED
will flash 3 times indicating that the key is active (Fig.15).
Replace battery holder into the collar key, clipping the 2 halves togehter
and ensuring the green PCB board is visible through the clear base.
(Fig.16).
The key will continue to flash at 2 minute intervals. (Fig.17).

Battery should be replaced every 3-6 months or when the LED
stops flashing.

Programming the Infra-red dog door
After powering the dog door and the collar key, approach the flap with the
key. The red LED will stop flashing and the door will emit a high pitched
bleep. (Fig. 18).
Your dog door is now programmed to recognise the collar key and the
locking bolts will be activated everytime you approach the dog door with
the collar key. The bolts will not relock until the collar key is out of range of
the dog door.
If you have more than one dog, you will need to purchase collar keys of
the same colour code.
The colour codes available are: Black, Red, Brown and White. Extra
keys can be purchased from the Staywell website -
www.staywell.co.uk
If your dog loses a collar key, you must
purchase a replacement of the same
colour. If you purchase a different
colour, you must reprogramme the dog
door with that new colour.
To reprogramme the dog door,
disconnect the batteries for
approximately three minutes and follow
the steps outlined on the previous
page and as above.
Attaching the Infra-red collar key
The key must be attached to the collar so that it hangs forwards (Fig.19).
Manual operation
Please note, this feature CANNOT be used until the dog door has
been fully powered and programmed. If you do not wish to use the
locking bolts the dog door can be placed in manual mode.
Press the manual button once (Fig. 20). and
the bolts will unlock and the LED flashes. The
dog door is now in manual mode.
To place the dog door back in automatic mode
press the manual button. The bolts will relock
and the LED flashes. The dog door is now
back in automatic mode.

Setting the re-latch time
Please note, this feature CANNOT be used until the dog door has
been fully powered and programmed.
The re-latch time is the length of time that it takes for the bolts to lock after
they have been activated and the key has been removed from range. The
bolts on your dog door have been factory set to re-latch after 2 seconds.
The time can be set between 2 and 20 seconds. The period that you set
the re-latch time will depend on your own dog and your personal preference.
Remove the top cover by pushing firmly on the paw prints and
by pushing upwards. Press the manual button once. (Fig. 21).
The LED will flash and the bolts will unlock. The dog door is effectively in
manual mode. Press the timer button within 2 seconds (Fig. 22). Each
press of the timer button will increase the re-latch time by one second. Each
time the button is pressed the dog door will emit a high pitched bleep.
Once the time out reaches 20 seconds the timer reverts to 2 seconds, emits
a low tone bleep and the cycle starts again.
Once the desired amount of seconds has been selected, wait 2 seconds
for the dog door to return to manual mode (there is nothing to indicate this
as the bolts will remain open). Press the manual button again to return to
automatic mode (Fig. 21). The LED will flash and the bolts will re-lock. The
selected re-latch time is in use.
To extend or reduce the selected re-latch time, simply repeat the steps
above. For example: If a re-latch time of 5 seconds has been selected,
the first high pitched bleep changes the setting to 6 seconds, the second
high pitched bleep to 7 seconds and so on.

Low battery power
Dog door
When the batteries are starting to run low the dog door will warn you by
emitting a bleep every 2 minutes. The LED will flash continually.
Remove the top cover by
pushing firmly on the paw
prints and by pushing
upwards.
Remove the old batteries and insert 4 x new
1.5V Alkaline long life batteries. (Fig. 23).
Your dog door will need reprogramming.
Follow instructions for “Programming the
Infra-red dog door”.
Collar key
As the power in the collar key battery runs low you will notice a loss of
range as your dog approaches the door. Eventually the battery power
will become so low that the dog door will not open and the LED will stop
flashing. To restore power, replace the battery in the collar key and refer to
”Powering the Infra-red key”.
Mains power adaptor (optional)
A mains power transformer kit can be purchased from the Staywell website
- www.staywell.co.uk. Instructions are provided explaining how to install.
Once installed, place the jack plug into the socket at the bottom of the dog
door (Fig. 24). Plug adaptor into a household electric socket
(Fig. 25).
Batteries can be left installed as a back-up power supply. If you are
powering the dog door with the mains power adaptor, and there have
been no batteries installed, you will need to program your dog door. Follow
instructions for “Programming the Infra-red dog door”.
Cat collar key
If you wish to use your dog door for both cat and dog, we supply a black
collar key for your cat, which will operate the dog door. Your dog must use
a black dog collar key. Please contact Staywell Customer Care for advice.

Training your dog to use the dog door
Most dogs will learn to use the dog door almost at once but there are a
few who may be a little nervous at first. The following tips will help your pet
to take full advantage of the outdoor freedom and indoor comfort - which
you want for your dog – and which your new dog door provides.
The most important rule is to be patient with your dog. Don’t be in a hurry.
Let your dog work out for itself that it can go in and out of doors. Don’t
force it through the flap or it may become frightened.
Many dog owners install dog doors when they move house. If this applies
to you, make sure that your dog is familiar with his or her surroundings before
you fit the dog door. Take it on supervised trips outdoors on a leash and make
sure it also feels secure and comfortable in its new indoor environment.
Once you have installed your dog door, leave the flap open for some time.
You can do this by using a long strip of masking tape; open the flap and
use the tape to keep it held open by fixing the other end of the tape to the
surface above. Make sure that the fixing is secure so that the flap can not
fall down accidentally. Let your dog become familiar with it and go in and
out freely. Establish a motive for your dog to use the door.
Dogs can be trained to use the pet door in a matter of hours. Dogs
respond to encouragement, repetition and especially play, so why not use
the door as part of a game? E.g. throwing a ball through the pet door. Pat
and congratulate the dog when the pet door is used appropriately. Repeat
several times congratulating the dog every time he uses the pet door.
If this is something new to your dog, it may take some patience to teach
your dog how to use it. When your dog makes progress give him a lot of
praise - he’s earned it!
Training your dog to use the Infra-red
collar key
Before allowing your dog to use the dog door, it is wise to acquaint your
self with the operation of the Infra-red lock. You firstly need to power up
both the dog door and the collar key and then program the Infra-red collar
key to the dog door.
From the outside of the
house take the ‘powered’ and
‘programmed’ collar key in your
hand and then move it towards
the dog door. You should hear the
locking bolts “click” and see them
retract into the dog door.

The latch will remain inside the dog door until the key is moved away
where it will return to the locked position. (Please note that the Infra-red
collar key is required only to enter the dog door.)
Only when the dog is comfortable going in and out of the dog door whilst
the flap has been propped open, (in line with the general training tips in
the previous section) should you fit the collar key onto your dog’s collar.
When fixing the collar to your dog, ensure that the clear base of the key
(through which you should see the green PCB) is pointing forwards and
away from the dog. This is to ensure that the Infra-red beam can reach the
sensor on the dog door.
Due to the generous range of the Infra-red collar key, most dogs will have
no problem learning how the dog door is activated and how to gain entry.
There are some dogs however, who can take a little longer to become
more confident and familiar with the Infra-red functions. Use a favourite
treat to coax your dog towards and through the dog door and reward them
when they get it right.
If your dog has only just become familiar with
the using a dog door, it may take some
patience to teach your dog how it the
Infra-red function works. When your
dog makes progress, give them
a lot of praise. Keep repeating
the exercise until your dog can
come through the dog door
comfortably.
Cleaning your dog door
Your dog door is constructed of the highest quality thermoplastic with a
toughened acrylic flap and has been designed to last for many years. To
maintain its appearance, occasional wiping down with a damp cloth is all
that is necessary.
Cleaning the Infra-red lens
For best performance wipe the lens clean every
4 weeks with a soft cloth. (Fig.26).
3 year warranty
Your Staywell product is provided with a three year warranty. Warranty
covers the replacement of parts, or at the Company’s discretion the
replacement of a complete product. Warranty only covers manufacturing
defects and does not cover consumer misuse or damage.
In the event that a warranty claim is necessary, please contact Staywell
Customer Care. Please only return goods for inspection on the
authorisation of a Customer Care Representative who will advise you of
the procedures.

How to dispose of your Infra-red cat
flap safely
Important recycling advice
Please respect the Waste Electrical and Electrical Equipment regulations in
your country. This equipment must be recycled. If you no longer require this
equipment, do not place it in the normal municipal waste system. Please return it to
where it was purchased in order that it can be placed in our recycling system. If this is
not possible, please contact Staywell Customer Care for further information.
Battery Disposal
Separate collection of spent batteries is required in many regions; check the
regulations in your area before discarding spent batteries. Please see page 5
for instructions on how to remove the batteries from these devices for separate disposal
The dog door operates on 4 batteries of the type AA/LR6, 1.5 V, alkaline manganese,
with a 1200 m Ah capacity. Replace only with equivalent batteries.
The collar key operates on 2 batteries of the type CR2, 3.0 V, lithium manganese,
with the capacity of 800 m Ah. Replace only with equivalent batteries.
Compliance
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the EU
Electromagnetic Compatibility and Low Voltage Directives. Unauthorised
changes or modifications to the equipment that are not approved by Radio Systems®
Corporation are in violation of EU regulations, could void the user’s authority to operate
the equipment, and void the warranty.

Mesure et marquage
Mesurez la hauteur de votre animal au niveau du ventre. (Fig. 1).
Mesurez cette hauteur sur votre porte et tracez une ligne horizontale de
291 mm (11 pi 1/2po) (Fig. 2). Assurez-vous que la hauteur est suffisante
pour ne pas affecter le bas de la porte.
Gardez à l’esprit que cette ligne correspondra en fait à la limite inférieure
du trou que vous allez découper dans la porte et que l’encadrement de la
trappe sera situé légèrement plus bas. En cas de besoin, il est peut-être
nécessaire de tracer la ligne plus haut en prenant en compte l’encadrement.

Découper un trou pour la chatière

Suivez les mêmes instructions que pour le bois, le PVC, le PVC rigide et le
métal en vous servant du modèle de découpage inclus. Veuillez noter que
des outils et du matériel complémentaires, ainsi que des compétences en
bricolage se révèleront peut-être nécessaires.

Mise en place de la chatière
Votre chatière Staywell se met en place à l’aide des verrous à
4 positions sur le côté intérieur de votre maison.
Avant de mettre en place la chatière, retirez la barrière de sécurité
et déverrouillez la chatière. Pour ce faire, tournez les poignées du
verrouillage à 4 positions en vous assurant qu’elles sont dans la même
position.
(Fig. 4). Tournez les poignées en poussant la barrière tel qu’indiqué. Vous
pourrez ainsi retirer la barrière. (Fig. 5).
Mettez la trappe dans le trou pendant quelques instants et faites une
marque à l’emplacement des trous de vis en dessous de la forme en U
sur la chatière. (Fig. 6).
Retirez la trappe et percez les trous à l’aide d’un foret de 4,5 mm (3/16 po)
(Fig. 7).
Depuis l’intérieur de la maison, mettez en place l’encadrement intérieur.
Insérez les vis à travers les trous percés. Si les vis sont trop longues, il
sera peut-être nécessaire de les couper pour qu’elles correspondent à la
profondeur de votre porte. L’utilisation de vis trop longues pourrait abîmer
la chatière. Vous devez retirer les vis de la chatière avant de les couper.
Limez la pointe des vis pour qu’elles ne soient pas coupantes.
Mettez l’encadrement extérieur en place à l’extérieur de la maison et
insérez les écrous hexagonaux dans les trous prévus aussi profondément
que possible jusqu’à ce qu’ils soient bien serrés.
Une fois qu’ils sont en place, serrez les écrous petit à petit jusqu’à ce
que les deux encadrements soient correctement emboîtés dans la porte.
Assurez-vous que la chatière est verticale (Fig. 8).
Votre chatière Staywell est maintenant prête
à l’emploi.

Utilisation du système de
verrouillage à 4 positions
Le verrou à 4 positions vous permet de contrôler l’accès de votre animal à
votre maison.
Il est préférable de ne pas utiliser le système de verrouillage à 4 positions
tant que votre animal ne s’est pas habitué à la chatière. Votre animal
risquerait de ne pas comprendre pourquoi vous avez installé la chatière.

Utilisation du système de
blocage par la barrière
La barrière de blocage est conçue pour sécuriser la chatière lorsque vous
n’êtes pas chez vous et que votre chien vous accompagne. Elle ne doit
pas être utilisée pour contrôler les va-et-vient quotidiens de votre chien.
Appuyez sur la barrière en la faisant glisser vers le bas pour déverrouiller le
mécanisme. (Fig. 9 et Fig. 10).

Mise en marche de la chatière à
infrarouge
Retirez le couvercle du haut en appuyant fermement sur les
empreintes de pas et en poussant vers le haut. (Fig. 11).
Installez 4 piles alcalines AA de longue durée d’1,5 V (Fig. 12).
Lorsque la chatière est allumée, elle émet un bip grave indiquant qu’elle
est prête à être programmée. En même temps que le bip, le voyant lumineux
rouge clignote. Remettez le couvercle en place.

Les piles doivent être remplacées tous les 3-6 mois. N’utilisez pas
de piles rechargeables. Pour augmenter la durée de vie des piles,
mettez la chatière en mode manuel lorsqu’elle n’est pas utilisée
(voir « fonctionnement manuel ») et montez la barrière de sécurité
facultative.
Mise en marche de l’émetteur à
infrarouge
Ouvrez l’émetteur en insérant une pièce entre les deux brides (Fig. 13).
Retirez le compartiment à piles (Fig. 14).
Mettez une pile CR2 de longue durée dans le compartiment à piles. Le
voyant lumineux du collier émetteur clignote 3 fois, ce qui indique que
l’émetteur est actif (Fig. 15).
Remettez le compartiment à piles dans le collier en emboîtant les deux
parties et en vous assurant que la carte de circuit imprimé verte soit visible
à travers la base transparente. (Fig. 16).
L’émetteur continuera à clignoter toutes les deux minutes. (Fig. 17).

Les piles doivent être remplacées tous les 3-6 mois ou lorsque le
voyant lumineux s’arrête de clignoter.

Mise en marche de la chatière à
infrarouge
Après avoir mis la chatière et le collier émetteur sous tension, approchez
de la chatière en tenant le collier émetteur. Le voyant lumineux rouge
arrêtera de clignoter et l’unité émettra un bip aigu. (Fig. 18).
Votre chatière est maintenant programmée pour reconnaître le collier
émetteur, et le mécanisme du verrou sera activé à chaque fois que vous
approcherez de la chatière en tenant le collier émetteur. Le verrou se
refermera une fois que le collier émetteur se trouve hors de portée de la
chatière.
Si vous avez plusieurs chats, vous devrez acheter plusieurs colliers
émetteurs du même code de couleur.
Voici les codes de couleur disponibles : noir, rouge, marron et blanc.
Vous pouvez acheter des émetteurs supplémentaires sur le site Web
de Staywell, www.staywell.co.uk
Si votre chat perd l’émetteur, vous
devez acheter un émetteur de
rechange de la même couleur. Si
vous achetez un émetteur de couleur
différente, vous devrez reprogrammer
la chatière par rapport à ce nouveau
code de couleur.
Pour reprogrammer la chatière, retirez
les piles pendant environ trois minutes,
puis suivez les étapes indiquées à la
page précédente et ci-dessus.
Mise en place du collier émetteur à
infrarouge
L’émetteur doit être attaché au collier de façon à ce qu’il pointe vers
l’avant (Fig. 19).
Fonctionnement manuel
Veuillez noter que cette fonctionnalité NE PEUTPAS être utilisée
tant que la chatière n’a pas été mise sous tension et programmée.
Si vous ne souhaitez pas utiliser le verrou électronique, la chatière peut
être mise en mode manuel.
Appuyez une fois sur le bouton de mode
manuel (Fig. 20); le verrou se débloque et
le voyant lumineux clignote. La chatière est
maintenant en mode manuel.
Pour remettre la chatière en mode
automatique, appuyez sur le bouton de mode
manuel. Le verrou se bloque à nouveau et le
voyant lumineux clignote. La chatière est de
nouveau en mode automatique

Réglage de la durée du reverrouillage
Veuillez noter que cette fonctionnalité NE PEUTPAS être utilisée
tant que la chatière n’a pas été mise sous tension et programmée.
La durée de reverrouillage représente la durée nécessaire au verrou pour
se rebloquer après qu’il a été activé et une fois que l’émetteur est hors de
portée. Le verrou de votre chatière a été réglé en usine pour se rebloquer
après 2 secondes. La durée peut être réglée entre 2 et 20 secondes.
La durée de reverrouillage dépend de votre chat et de vos préférences
personnelles.
Retirez le couvercle du haut en appuyant fermement sur les empreintes
de pas et en poussant vers le haut. Appuyez une fois sur le
bouton de mode manuel. (Fig. 21).Le voyant lumineux clignote
et le verrou se débloque. La chatière est maintenant en mode
manuel. Appuyez sur le bouton du temporisateur dans un délai de
2 secondes (Fig. 22). À chaque fois que vous appuyez sur le bouton du
temporisateur, la durée de reverrouillage augmente d’une seconde. À
chaque fois que vous appuyez sur le bouton, la chatière émet un bip aigu.
Une fois que le temporisateur atteint 20 secondes, il revient à 2 secondes,
émet un bip grave et le cycle recommence.
Une fois que vous avez choisi le nombre de secondes désiré, attendez
2 secondes pour que la chatière revienne en mode manuel (rien
n’indiquera cela étant donné que le verrou restera ouvert). Appuyez
encore une fois sur le bouton de mode manuel pour revenir en mode
automatique (Fig. 21). Le voyant lumineux clignote et le verrou se
rebloque. La durée de reverrouillage sélectionnée est effective.
Pour allonger ou réduire la durée de reverrouillage, recommencez
simplement les étapes ci-dessus. Par exemple : Si vous avez choisi une
durée de reverrouillage de 5 secondes, le premier bip aigu change ce
réglage à 6 secondes, le second bip à 7 secondes et ainsi de suite.

Niveau des piles faible
Chatière
Lorsque les piles s’affaiblissent, la chatière vous avertit en émettant un bip
toutes les 2 minutes. Le voyant lumineux clignote de façon continue.
Retirez le couvercle du haut en appuyant
fermement sur les
empreintes de pas et en
poussant vers le haut.
Retirez les anciennes piles et placez
4 nouvelles piles alcalines AA de longue
durée d’1,5 V. (Fig. 23). Votre chatière
devra être reprogrammée. Suivez les
instructions dela section « Programmation
de la chatière à infrarouge ».
Collier émetteur
Lorsque le niveau des piles devient faible, vous remarquerez une perte
de la portée de l’émetteur lorsque votre chat s’approche de la chatière.
Ensuite, la puissance de la pile sera tellement faible que la trappe de
s’ouvrira pas et le voyant lumineux ne clignotera plus. Remplacez alors les
piles du collier émetteur et reportez-vous à la section « Mise en marche de
l’émetteur à infrarouge ».
Adaptateur de secteur électrique
(facultatif)
Vous pouvez acheter un transformateur de secteur électrique sur le site
Web de Staywell, www.staywell.co.uk.; vous y trouverez également des
instructions concernant l’installation. Une fois l’installation terminée,
mettez la fiche mâle dans la prise à côté de la chatière (Fig. 24). Branchez
l’adaptateur dans une prise électrique de la maison (Fig. 25).
Vous pouvez laisser les piles en tant qu’alimentation électrique de
secours. Si la chatière fonctionne grâce à I’adaptateur de secteur
électrique et sans qu’aucune pile n’ait été installée, vous devrez
programmer votre chatière. Suivez les instructions de « Programmation de
la chatière à infrarouge ».
Collier émetteur du chat
Si vous souhaitez utiliser la chatière à la fois pour un chat et un chien,
nous fournissons un émetteur noir pour votre chat qui fonctionnera avec
la chatière. Votre chien doit utiliser un collier émetteur noir pour chien.
