Introduction
This new Philips SalonCurl Essential/SalonCurl Ceramic has been specially
designed to make hairstyling easy and to give beautiful styling results.We
hope you will enjoy using your SalonCurl Essential/SalonCurl Ceramic.

Important
Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and
save them for future reference.
Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the
local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.
Check the condition of the mains cord regularly. Do not use the
appliance if the plug, the cord or the appliance itself is damaged.
If the mains cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a
service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualied persons in
order to avoid a hazard.
Do not wind the mains cord round the appliance.
Keep this appliance away from water! Do not use this product near
or over water contained in baths, washbasins, sinks etc.When used
in a bathroom, unplug the appliance after use since the proximity of

The barrel and the clip of this appliance become hot during use.
Prevent contact with the skin.
Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
Prevent the mains cord from coming into contact with the hot
parts of the appliance.
Only use the appliance on dry hair.
Always unplug the appliance after use.
Wait until the appliance has cooled down before storing it.
Keep the barrel clean and free of dust, dirt, styling spray and gel.
Never use the appliance in combination with styling mousse, styling
spray, gel etc.
Always return the appliance to a service centre authorised by
Philips for examination or repair. Repair by unqualied people could
cause an extremely hazardous situation for the user.
HP4658 only: the barrel has a ceramic coating.This coating will
wear in the course of time.When this happens, the appliance will
still function normally.
Keep the appliance away from ammable objects and materials
when it is switched on.
Never cover the appliance with anything (e.g. a towel or clothing)
when it is hot.
Never leave the appliance unattended when it is plugged in.
If the appliance is used on colour-treated hair, the barrel may stain.
Preparing for use
Drying your hair
To get professional styling results, it is essential to prepare your hair for
curling. Dry your hair properly with a hairdryer and comb or brush it so
that it is untangled and smooth.
Using the appliance
Curling irons are powerful styling tools and should always be used with
care.

Styling with the curling iron
1 Insert the mains plug into the wall socket. (Fig. 2)
2 Switch the appliance on by setting the on/off slide to ‘I’. (Fig. 3)
The green power-on light goes on. It stays on as long as the on/off slide is
set to ‘I’.
After approximately 3 minutes the dot on the barrel changes colour
(becomes lighter).The appliance is now ready for use.
3 Take a lock of hair, open the clip by pressing the lever and place the
lock between the barrel and the clip. (Fig. 4)
The thinner the lock of hair, the tighter the curl will be. In this way the full
length of the strand will come in contact with the heated barrel.
4 Release the lever (Fig. 5)
5 Slide the barrel to the end of the lock. (Fig. 6)
6 Wind the lock round the barrel. (Fig. 7)
Make sure the end of the lock is wound in the required direction.
7 Keep the curling iron in your hair for approximately 15 seconds.

8 Unwind the lock of hair until the clip can be opened again by means
of the lever. (Fig. 9)
You can comb the curls with your ngers to add volume.
Styling with the slide-on brush (HP4658 only)
You can use the slide-on brush to create waves and to add volume to
your hair.
1 Slide the brush onto the barrel of the appliance. (Fig. 10)
Be careful! If you have just used the curling iron, the barrel will still be
hot.

4 Start styling when the colour of the dot has become light.
Prevent the brush from getting tangled in the hair in the following
way:
Do not make the locks too thick.
Do not wind a lock of hair more than twice round the brush.
When unwinding a lock of hair, make sure that you hold the brush
away from the underlying hair.
5 Take a lock of hair and wind it round the brush. Make sure the end
of the lock is wound in the required direction. (Fig. 11)
6 Keep the brush in your hair for approximately 15 seconds. (Fig. 12)
7 Remove the brush from the hair by unwinding the lock of hair.

Cleaning
Always switch the appliance off, unplug it, put it in a safe place and let it
cool down.
Never rinse the appliance with water.
1 Clean the appliance with a small brush or a dry cloth.
HP4658 only:
2 Remove the slide-on brush from the appliance before cleaning it.
3 Clean the slide-on brush with a moist cloth.
4 Dry the slide-on brush before using or storing it.
Storage
Always switch the appliance off, unplug it and let it cool down before
storing it.

Environment
Do not throw the appliance away with the normal household waste
at the end of its life, but hand it in at an ofcial collection point for

Problem
The appliance does not work at all.
1 Perhaps there is a power failure or the socket is not live. Check if
the power supply is working. If it is, check whether the socket is
live by plugging in another appliance.
2 Check if the mains cord of the appliance is damaged. If the mains
cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a service centre
authorised by Philips or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid
a hazard.

Vigtigt

Som en ekstra sikkerhedsforanstaltning anbefales det, at
installationen til badeværelset er forsynet med et HFI-relæ (30 mA).
Kontakt eventuelt en el-installatør.
Både cylinderen og klemmen bliver meget varme under brug, så
undgå direkte kontakt med huden.
Hold apparatet uden for børns rækkevidde.
Netledningen må ikke komme i kontakt med apparatets varme dele.
Brug kun apparatet i tørt hår.
Tag altid stikket ud af stikkontakten efter brug.
Læg ikke apparatet væk, før det er helt afkølet.
Sørg for, at holde cylinderen fri for støv, snavs, hårlak og gel. Brug
aldrig krøllejernet i forbindelse med styling mousse, hårlak, gel og
lign.
Hvis apparatet skal efterses eller repareres, skal du henvende dig til
Philips, da en uautoriseret reparation efterfølgende kan være til fare
for brugeren.
Cylinderen har en keramisk belægning. Denne nedslides med tiden,
men når det sker, er styleren stadig fuldt funktionsdygtigt.
Når apparatet er tændt, skal det holdes væk fra brandbare
genstande og materialer.
Når apparatet er varmt, må der ikke lægges noget hen over det (f.
eks. håndklæder eller tøj).
Efterlad aldrig apparatet uden opsyn, når strømmen er tilsluttet.
Hvis apparatet bruges til farvet hår, kan det smitte af på cylinderen.
Klargøring
Hårtørring
Det er vigtigt at du forbereder dit hår til brug af krøllejernet, hvis du vil
opnå et professionelt stylingresultat. Tør håret med en hårtørrer, og red
det grundigt igennem med en kam eller børste, så det ikke er ltret.
Sådan bruges apparatet
Et krøllejern er et kraftigt stylingredskab og skal anvendes med omtanke.

Styling med krøllejernet
1 Sæt netstikket i en stikkontakt. (g. 2)
2 Tænd apparatet ved at sætte on/off-kontakten i stilling I. (g. 3)
Den grønne kontrollampe tænder og forbliver tændt, så længe on/off-
kontakten står på I.
Efter ca. 3 minutter skifter prikken på cylinderen farve (den bliver lysere).
Apparatet er nu klar til brug.
3 Tag fat i en hårlok, luk klemmen op ved at trykke på klemmens
håndtag og placér lokken mellem cylinder og klemme. (g. 4)
Jo tyndere hårlokken er, jo fastere bliver krøllen. På denne måde kommer
hele lokkens længde i kontakt med den varme cylinder.
4 Slip klemmens håndtag. (g. 5)
5 Træk cylinderen ud til lokkens spids. (g. 6)
6 Rul hårlokken rundt om cylinderen. (g. 7)
Sørg for, at spidserne rulles med i den ønskede retning.
7 Hold krøllejernet i håret i ca. 15 sekunder. (g. 8)
8 Rul hårlokken ud, indtil klemmen kan lukkes op ved hjælp af
håndtaget. (g. 9)
Krøllerne får mest fylde, hvis de sættes med ngrene.
Styling med børsten (kun HP4658)
Du kan lave bølger og give håret mere fylde med børsten.
1 Sæt børsten ned over apparatets cylinder. (g. 10)
Pas på! Hvis du lige har brugt krøllejernet, er cylinderen stadig varm.
2 Sæt netstikket i en stikkontakt. (g. 2)
3 Tænd krøllejernet ved at sætte on/off-kontakten i stilling I. (g. 3)
Den grønne kontrollampe tænder og forbliver tændt, så længe on/off-
kontakten står på I.

4 Du kan begynde stylingen, når prikkens farve er blevet lys.
Sådan undgår du, at børsten ltres ind håret:
Lav ikke hårlokkerne for tykke.
Rul aldrig hårlokken mere end to gange omkring børsten.
Sørg for, at børsten ikke får fat i det underliggende hår, når lokken
rulles ud igen.
5 Rul en hårlok op omkring børsten. Sørg for, at få spidserne med i
den ønskede retning. (g. 11)
6 Hold børsten i håret i ca. 15 sekunder. (g. 12)
7 Rul hårlokken ud igen og træk børsten ud af håret. (g. 13)
Rengøring
Sluk altid apparatet, tag stikket ud af kontakten, og læg apparatet et
sikkert sted, indtil det er kølet af.
Brug aldrig vand til rengøring af apparatet.
1 Rengør apparatet med en lille børste eller en tør klud.
Kun HP4658:
2 Tag børsten af, inden du rengør apparatet.
3 Rengør børsten med en fugtig klud.
4 Tør børsten, inden du bruger den eller lægger den væk.
Opbevaring
Sluk altid apparatet, tag stikket ud af kontakten, og lad apparatet køle af,
før du lægger det væk.
Rul aldrig ledningen omkring apparatet.
1 Opbevar apparatet et sikkert og tørt sted.
Miljøhensyn

Problem
Apparatet virker slet ikke.

Wichtig

Badewannen. Ziehen Sie nach jedem Gebrauch in einem
Badezimmer sofort den Stecker aus der Steckdose.Auch ein
unbenutztes und ausgeschaltetes Gerät ist in der Nähe von Wasser
eine Gefahr, solange sich der Stecker in der Steckdose bendet.
Der Einbau einer Fehlerstromschutzeinrichtung mit einem
Nennauslösestrom von maximal 30 mA bietet zusätzlichen Schutz.
Lassen Sie sich von Ihrem Elektroinstallateur beraten.
Stab und Clip des Geräts werden während des Gebrauchs heiß.
Vermeiden Sie jeden Kontakt mit der Haut.
Halten Sie das Gerät außerhalb der Reichweite von Kindern.
Achten Sie darauf, dass das Netzkabel nicht in Berührung mit den
heißen Teilen des Geräts kommt.

Für den Gebrauch vorbereiten
Das Haar trocknen
Für ein professionelles Ergebnis bei der Gestaltung von Locken ist es
wichtig, das Haar gut vorzubereiten.Trocknen Sie Ihr Haar gründlich mit
einem Haartrockner, und kämmen oder bürsten Sie es durch, bis es glatt
und geschmeidig ist.
Das Gerät verwenden
Lockenzangen sind leistungsstarke Stylinggeräte und sollten stets mit
Vorsicht benutzt werden.
Mit der Lockenzange stylen
1 Stecken Sie den Netzstecker in die Steckdose. (Abb. 2)
2 Schalten Sie das Gerät ein, indem Sie den Ein-/Ausschalter auf
Position “I” stellen. (Abb. 3)
Die grüne Betriebsanzeige leuchtet auf. Sie leuchtet dauerhaft, solange der
Ein-/Ausschalter auf Position “I” steht.
Nach ca. 3 Minuten wechselt die Bereitschaftsanzeige in eine hellere
Farbe. Das Gerät ist jetzt betriebsbereit.
3 Öffnen Sie die Lockenzange, indem Sie auf den Hebel drücken.
Legen Sie dann eine Haarsträhne zwischen Stab und Clip. (Abb. 4)
Je feiner die Haarsträhne, desto fester wird die Locke; denn die gesamte
Haarlänge kommt in Berührung mit dem aufgeheizten Lockenstab.
4 Lassen Sie den Hebel los. (Abb. 5)
5 Ziehen Sie den Lockenstab bis zu den Haarspitzen. (Abb. 6)
6 Wickeln Sie anschließend die Haarsträhne um den Lockenstab.

Achten Sie darauf, die Haarspitzen in die gewünschte Richtung
aufzuwickeln.
7 Halten Sie die Lockenzange ca. 15 Sekunden im Haar. (Abb. 8)

8 Wickeln Sie die Haarsträhne wieder so weit ab, dass sich der Clip
mit dem Hebel öffnen lässt. (Abb. 9)
Durch Kämmen der Locken mit den Fingern geben Sie Ihrer Frisur
extraVolumen.
Mit der Aufsteckbürste stylen (nur HP4658)
Die Aufsteckbürste eignet sich zum Gestalten von Wellen und gibt Ihrem
Haar zusätzliches Volumen.
1 Stecken Sie die Aufsteckbürste auf den Lockenstab. (Abb. 10)
Achtung:Wenn Sie die Lockenzange unmittelbar zuvor benutzt haben,
ist diese noch heiß!
2 Stecken Sie den Netzstecker in die Steckdose. (Abb. 2)
3 Schalten Sie das Gerät ein, indem Sie den Ein-/Ausschalter auf
Position “I” stellen. (Abb. 3)
Die grüne Betriebsanzeige leuchtet auf. Sie leuchtet dauerhaft, solange der
Ein-/Ausschalter auf Position “I” steht.
Nach ca. 3 Minuten wechselt die Bereitschaftsanzeige in eine hellere
Farbe. Das Gerät ist jetzt betriebsbereit.
4 Sie können mit dem Stylen beginnen, sobald die Anzeige heller wird.
Auf folgende Weise können Sie verhindern, dass sich die Bürste im
Haar verfängt:
Nehmen Sie nicht zu viele Haare auf einmal.
Wickeln Sie die Strähne höchstens zweimal um die Bürste.
Halten Sie die Bürste beim Abwickeln der Haarsträhne in einem
Abstand von den darunter liegenden Haarpartien.
5 Nehmen Sie eine Strähne, und wickeln Sie sie um die Bürste.
Achten Sie darauf, die Haarspitzen in die gewünschte Richtung
aufzuwickeln. (Abb. 11)
6 Halten Sie die Bürste ca. 15 Sekunden im Haar. (Abb. 12)
7 Wickeln Sie die Haarsträhne ab, und ziehen Sie die Bürste aus dem
Haar. (Abb. 13)

Reinigung
Schalten Sie das Gerät nach jedem Gebrauch aus, trennen Sie es vom
Stromnetz, und lassen Sie es an einem sicheren Ort abkühlen.
Spülen Sie das Gerät nie mit Wasser ab.
1 Reinigen Sie das Gerät mit einer kleinen Bürste oder einem
trockenen Tuch.
Nur HP4658:
2 Nehmen Sie vor dem Reinigen die Aufsteckbürste vom Gerät ab.
3 Reinigen Sie die Aufsteckbürste mit einem feuchten Tuch.
4 Trocknen Sie die Aufsteckbürste vor dem Gebrauch und bevor Sie
sie wegräumen.
Aufbewahrung
Schalten Sie das Gerät vor dem Wegräumen aus, trennen Sie es vom
Stromnetz, und lassen Sie es abkühlen.
Wickeln Sie das Netzkabel nicht um das Gerät.
1 Bewahren Sie das Gerät an einem sicheren und trockenen Ort auf.
Umweltschutz
Werfen Sie das Gerät am Ende der Lebensdauer nicht in den
normalen Hausmüll. Bringen Sie es zum Recycling zu einer
ofziellen Sammelstelle. Auf diese Weise helfen Sie, die Umwelt zu
