Important
Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and
save them for future reference.
◗This appliance is NOT a toy but a mains-operated hairstyler. The
styling surfaces of this appliance become very hot. On children
under the age of 14, this appliance must be operated by a
responsible adult only. Keep this appliance out of the reach of
children under the age of 14.
◗Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to
the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.
◗Check the condition of the mains cord regularly. Do not use the
appliance if the plug, the cord or the appliance itself is damaged.

◗If the mains cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a
service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons
in order to avoid a hazard.
◗Keep this appliance away from water! Do not use this product
near or over water contained in baths, washbasins, sinks etc.
When used in a bathroom, unplug the appliance after use since
the proximity of water presents a risk.
◗For additional protection, we advise you to install a residual
current device (RCD) with a rated residual operating current not
exceeding 30mA in the electrical circuit supplying the bathroom.
Ask your installer for advice.
◗Do not connect the handle to the mains without attaching an
attachment first. Make sure the attachment is properly fixed to
the handle before you put the plug in the wall socket.
◗Keep the attachments clean and free of dust, dirt, styling spray
and gel. Never use the appliance in combination with styling
mousse, styling spray, gel etc.
◗The attachments have a ceramic coating. This coating will wear in
the course of time. When this happens, the appliance will still
function normally.
◗The ceramic-coated parts of the attachments will become hot
during use. Prevent contact with the skin. Do not allow the
mains cord to touch any hot parts.
◗Always return the appliance to a service centre authorised by
Philips for examination or repair. Repair by unqualified people
could cause an extremely hazardous situation for the user.
◗Only use the appliance on dry or damp hair.
◗Always unplug the appliance after use.
◗Wait until the appliance has cooled down before storing it.
◗Do not wind the mains cord round the appliance.

◗Before you start styling, comb or brush the hair so that it is
untangled and smooth.
Connecting the attachments
1Insert one of the attachments into the handle. Make sure that the
stand is pointing downwards (fig. 1).
2Turn the locking ring on the handle to the left until the bold
arrow on the locking ring is in line with the arrow on the handle.
The attachment is now securely fixed to the handle (fig. 2).
◗Follow this procedure for all attachments. To detach the
attachments, turn the locking ring to the right and pull the
attachment out of the handle.
Unplug the appliance when you remove an attachment after or
during styling. Avoid touching the metal and ceramic parts of the
attachment, as they are hot.
Using the appliance
With the GirlGLAM styler you can create large rounded curls, ringlets,
crimps, triangular curls and a straight, sleek look.
1After having connected the attachment to the handle, place the
appliance on the stand of the attachment and put the mains plug
in the wall socket. The pilot light goes on and the appliance starts
heating up (fig. 3).
2Start styling when the ready dot on the attachment changes
colour (fig. 4).
3When using one of the curling attachments, always make sure
the end of the lock is wound in the required direction.
4How long you have to keep the styler in the hair depends on the
thickness of the hair. In case of fine hair, 5 seconds will be long
enough for a good result. Leave the styler in the hair longer
(max. 10 seconds) if the hair is thicker.

Large rounded curls
1Connect the large curling attachment to the handle. Make sure
that the stand is pointing downwards.
2Take a lock of hair, open the clip by pressing the lever and place
the lock between the barrel and the clip (fig. 5).
3Release the lever and slide the barrel to the end of the lock.
Then wind the lock round the barrel.
Make sure that the end of the lock is wound in the required direction.
4Open the clip after 5 to 10 seconds and remove the barrel from
the hair. Let the curls cool down before combing, brushing or
finger-combing the hair into its final style.
◗You can comb the curls with your fingers to add volume.
Ringlets
1Connect the large curling attachment to the handle and slide the
spiral onto the curling attachment.
2Take a lock of hair, open the clip by pressing the lever and place
the lock between the barrel and the clip (fig. 6).
3Release the lever and slide the barrel to the end of the lock.
Then wind the lock round the barrel following the spiral profile.
Make sure that the end of the lock is wound in the required
direction.
4Open the clip after 5 to 10 seconds and remove the barrel from
the hair. Let the ringlets cool down before combing, brushing or
finger-combing the hair into its final style.
Triangular curls
1Connect the triangle attachment to the handle. Make sure that
the stand is pointing downwards.
2Take a lock of hair, open the clip by pressing the lever and place

3Release the lever and slide the barrel to the end of the lock.
Then wind the lock round the barrel.
Make sure that the end of the lock is wound in the required direction.
4Open the clip after 5 to 10 seconds and remove the barrel from
the hair. Let the triangular curls cool down before combing,
brushing or finger-combing the hair into its final style.
Crimps
1Connect the crimping/straightening attachment with crimping
plates to the handle (fig. 8).
2Take a lock of hair (max. 5 to 6 cm wide), open the attachment
by pressing the lever and place the lock between the plates of the
crimping/straightening attachment. Start crimping at the roots
(fig. 9).
3Keep the plates locked for 5 to 10 seconds.
4Open the attachment by pressing the lever and place a lower
section of the same lock of hair between the plates. Make sure
there is an overlap. Repeat this process until you have reached
the end of the lock.
5Let the crimps cool down. Do not brush or comb the crimps, as
this would ruin them.
The waves, curls and crimps will disappear if your hair gets wet (for
instance when you wash it). You can also use the straightening plates to
make them disappear.
Sleek look
1Open the crimping/straightening attachment. Remove the plates
one by one by grabbing their cool tips and pulling them out of
the attachment (fig. 10).
2Turn the plates round and slide them back into the attachment
(fig. 11).

Make sure that the edges of the plates are inserted properly into the
grooves.
3You have now turned the crimping attachment into a
straightening attachment. Connect the attachment to the handle
and follow the same procedure as for creating crimps. You can
also straighten the hair by slowly sliding the straightening
attachment down the lock.
4Let the sleek hair cool down before combing or brushing the
hair.
Cleaning
Always unplug the appliance before cleaning it.
Never rinse the appliance with water.
◗Place the styler on the stand of the attachment in a safe place and
let it cool down.
◗Clean the appliance and the attachments with a small brush or a
dry cloth.
Storage
Always unplug the appliance before storing it.
◗Place the styler on the stand of the attachment in a safe place and
let it cool down.
◗Do not wind the mains cord round the appliance.

Solution
Perhaps there is a power failure or the socket is not
live.
Check if the power supply is working. If it is, check
whether the socket is live by plugging in another
appliance.
Perhaps the appliance overheated and switched itself
off.
Unplug the appliance and let it cool down for a few
minutes.
Make sure that the voltage indicated on the appliance
corresponds to the local mains voltage.
Perhaps the mains cord of the appliance is damaged.
The mains cord must be replaced by Philips, a service
centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified
persons in order to avoid a hazard.
Perhaps you didn't let the appliance heat up long
enough.
Let the appliance heat up until the ready dot has
changed colour.
Perhaps you wound too much hair round the barrel or
put too much hair between the plates.
Problem
The appliance does
not work at all.

Solution
When using the curling attachments, do not make the
locks too thick. The thinner the lock of hair, the tighter
the curl will be. When using the crimping/straightening
attachment, make sure the locks are no wider than 5
to 6 cm for a good result.
Perhaps you didn't leave the styling attachment in the
hair long enough.
Keep the styler in the hair for 5 to 10 seconds,
depending on the thickness of the hair.

◗Dieses Gerät ist KEIN Spielzeug, sondern ein am Stromnetz
betriebenes Styling-System. Die Styling-Flächen des Geräts werden

einem Philips Service-Center oder einer von Philips autorisierten
Werkstatt ausgetauscht werden, um ein Gefährdungen zu
vermeiden.
◗Halten Sie das Gerät von Wasser fern! Benutzen Sie es nicht in
der Nähe oder über mit Wasser gefüllten Badewannen, Wasch-
oder Spülbecken. Ziehen Sie nach jedem Gebrauch im
Badezimmer sofort den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose, da die
Nähe von Wasser ein Sicherheitsrisiko darstellt.
◗Der Einbau einer Fehlerstromschutzeinrichtung mit einem
Nennauslösestrom von maximal 30 mA in den betreffenden
Stromkreis bietet zusätzlichen Schutz. Lassen Sie sich von Ihrem
Elektroinstallateur beraten.
◗Schließen Sie das Gerät erst dann an das Stromnetz an, nachdem
Sie einen Aufsatz angebracht haben. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass
der Aufsatz fest auf dem Handgriff sitzt, bevor Sie den Stecker in
die Steckdose stecken.
◗Halten Sie die Aufsätze sauber und frei von Staub, Schmutz,
Styling-Spray und Haargel. Benutzen Sie das Gerät keinesfalls in
Kombination mit Schaumfestiger, Haarspray, Gel o. ä.
◗Die Keramikbeschichtung der Aufsätze nutzt sich im Laufe der
Zeit ab. Das Gerät funktioniert jedoch weiterhin normal.
◗Die keramikbeschichteten Teile der Aufsätze werden während
des Gebrauchs heiß. Vermeiden Sie jeden Hautkontakt. Achten
Sie darauf, dass das Netzkabel nicht in Berührung mit heißen
Geräteteilen kommt.
◗Wenden Sie sich zur Prüfung oder zur Reparatur des Geräts
immer an ein Philips Service Center. Unsachgemäß ausgeführte
Reparaturen gefährden den Benutzer.
◗Benutzen Sie das Gerät nur bei trockenem oder feuchtem Haar.
◗Ziehen Sie nach jedem Gebrauch den Netzstecker aus der
Steckdose.

Stylen beginnen.
Die Aufsätze anbringen
1Stecken Sie einen beliebigen Aufsatz in den Handgriff. Der
Ständer muss dabei nach unten zeigen (Abb. 1).
2Drehen Sie den Verschlussring am Handgriff nach links, bis der
dickere Pfeil auf dem Ring in einer Linie mit dem Pfeil auf dem
Handgriff steht. Der Aufsatz ist jetzt sicher am Handgriff befestigt
(Abb. 2).
◗Gehen Sie mit allen Aufsätzen auf dieselbe Weise vor. Zum
Abnehmen der Aufsätze drehen Sie den Verschlussring nach
rechts und ziehen den Aufsatz vom Handgriff.
Ziehen Sie den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose, wenn Sie beim
Frisieren oder anschließend einen Aufsatz abnehmen. Vermeiden Sie
jede Berührung mit den Metall- und Keramikflächen der Aufsätze: Sie
sind heiß!
Benutzung des Geräts
Mit dem GirlGLAM können Sie große weiche Locken, Ringellöckchen,
Kräusel, Triangellocken oder ein glattes Styling kreieren.
1Legen Sie das Gerät - nach Anbringen des Aufsatzes am Handgriff
- auf den Ständer des Aufsatzes und stecken Sie den Netzstecker
in die Steckdose. Die Kontrolllampe leuchtet auf, und das Gerät
heizt auf (Abb. 3).

2Beginnen Sie mit dem Styling, wenn die Bereitschaftsanzeige am
Aufsatz die Farbe wechselt (Abb. 4).
3Achten Sie beim Gebrauch der Lockenzangen darauf, die
Haarspitzen in die gewünschte Richtung aufzuwickeln.
4Wie lange Sie den Styler im Haar halten, hängt davon ab, wie dick
Ihr Haar ist. Bei feinem Haar reichen 5 Sekunden für ein gutes
Ergebnis. Lassen Sie bei dickerem Haar den Styler länger im Haar
(max. 10 Sekunden).
Große weiche Locken
1Befestigen Sie die große Lockenzange am Handgriff. Der Ständer
sollte dabei nach unten zeigen.
2Öffnen Sie die Lockenzange, indem Sie auf den Clip drücken.
Legen Sie dann eine Haarsträhne ein (Abb. 5).
3Lassen Sie den Clip los und ziehen Sie die Lockenzange bis zu
Haarspitzen. Wickeln Sie dann die Haarsträhne um die
Lockenzange.
Achten Sie darauf, die Haarspitzen in die gewünschte Richtung
aufzuwickeln.
4Öffnen Sie nach 5 bis 10 Sekunden den Clip und ziehen Sie die
Lockenzange aus dem Haar. Lassen Sie das Haar abkühlen, bevor
Sie der Frisur mit Kamm, Bürste oder mit den Fingern ihre
endgültige Form geben.
◗Durch Kämmen der Locken mit den Fingern geben Sie Ihrer
Frisur extra Volumen.
Ringellöckchen
1Befestigen Sie die große Lockenzange am Handgriff und schieben
Sie den Spiralaufsatz auf die Lockenzange.
2Öffnen Sie die Lockenzange, indem Sie auf den Clip drücken.
Legen Sie dann eine Haarsträhne ein (Abb. 6).

3Lassen Sie den Clip los und ziehen Sie die Lockenzange bis zu
Haarspitzen. Wickeln Sie dann die Haarsträhne der Spirale
entlang um die Lockenzange. Achten Sie darauf, die Haarspitzen
in die richtige Richtung aufzuwickeln.
4Öffnen Sie nach 5 bis 10 Sekunden den Clip und ziehen Sie die
Lockenzange aus dem Haar. Lassen Sie das Haar abkühlen, bevor
Sie der Frisur mit Kamm, Bürste oder mit den Fingern ihre
endgültige Form geben.
Triangel-Locken
1Befestigen Sie den Triangel-Aufsatz am Handgriff. Der Ständer
sollte dabei nach unten zeigen.
2Öffnen Sie die Lockenzange, indem Sie auf den Clip drücken.
Legen Sie dann eine Haarsträhne ein (Abb. 7).
3Lassen Sie den Clip los und ziehen Sie die Lockenzange bis zu
Haarspitzen. Wickeln Sie dann die Haarsträhne um die
Lockenzange.
Achten Sie darauf, die Haarspitzen in die gewünschte Richtung
aufzuwickeln.
4Öffnen Sie nach 5 bis 10 Sekunden den Clip und ziehen Sie die
Lockenzange aus dem Haar. Lassen Sie die Triangel-Locken
abkühlen, bevor Sie der Frisur mit Kamm, Bürste oder mit den
Fingern ihre endgültige Form geben.
Kräuseln
1Befestigen Sie den Crimper/Glätter-Aufsatz mit den Crimper-
Platten am Handgriff (Abb. 8).
2Erfassen Sie eine höchstens 5 bis 6 cm breite Haarsträhne,
drücken Sie auf den Clip und öffnen Sie den Aufsatz. Legen Sie
die Haarsträhne zwischen die Platten des Crimper/Glätter-
Aufsatzes. Beginnen Sie mit dem Kräuseln am Haaransatz
(Abb. 9).

3Halten Sie die Platten 5 bis 10 Sekunden lang fest geschlossen.
4Drücken Sie auf den Clip zum Öffnen des Aufsatzes und legen Sie
den nächsten Abschnitt derselben Haarsträhne zwischen die
Platten. (Achten Sie darauf, bereits gekräuseltes Haar nicht
nochmals zu erfassen). Wiederholen Sie den Vorgang bis zu den
Haarspitzen.
5Lassen Sie das gekräuselte Haar abkühlen, bevor Sie es bürsten
oder kämmen. Andernfalls ruinieren Sie die soeben geschaffene
Frisur.
Wellen, Locken und Kräusel verschwinden, sobald das Haar nass wird,
z.B. bei der Haarwäsche. Zum Entfernen von Wellen und Locken
können Sie auch die Glätter-Platten verwenden.
Glattes Haar
1Öffnen Sie den Crimper/Glätter-Aufsatz. Fassen Sie die Platten an
den kühlen Spitzen (Cool Tips) und ziehen Sie die Platten einzeln
vom Aufsatz (Abb. 10).
2Drehen Sie die Platten um und schieben Sie diese wieder in den
Aufsatz (Abb. 11).
Achten Sie darauf, die Ränder der Platten richtig in die Rillen
einzuführen.
3Sie haben jetzt den Crimper in einen Glätter verwandelt.
Befestigen Sie den Aufsatz am Handgriff und gehen Sie auf
dieselbe Weise vor wie beim Kräuseln. Sie können das Haar auch
glätten, indem Sie den Glätter-Aufsatz langsam bis zu den
Haarspitzen führen.
4Lassen Sie das geglättete Haar abkühlen, bevor Sie es kämmen
oder bürsten.
Reinigung
Trennen Sie das Gerät vor dem Reinigen immer vom Stromnetz.

Lösung
Möglicherweise liegt ein Stromausfall vor oder die
Steckdose ist defekt.
Ist grundsätzlich Strom verfügbar, schließen Sie ein
anderes Gerät an die Steckdose an, um zu ermitteln,
ob sie Strom führt.
Möglicherweise hat sich das Gerät wegen Überhitzung
automatisch ausgeschaltet.
Problem
Das Gerät funktioniert
nicht.
Spülen Sie das Gerät keinesfalls unter fließendem Wasser ab.
◗Legen Sie das Gerät an einem sicheren Ort auf den Ständer des
Aufsatzes und lassen Sie es abkühlen.
◗Reinigen Sie das Gerät und die Aufsätze mit einer kleinen Bürste
oder einem trockenen Tuch.
Aufbewahrung
Trennen Sie das Gerät immer vom Stromnetz, bevor Sie es
wegräumen.
◗Legen Sie das Gerät an einem sicheren Ort auf den Ständer des
Aufsatzes und lassen Sie es abkühlen.
◗Wickeln Sie das Netzkabel nicht um das Gerät.
