Here are some ways of taking care of your AC adapter.
Do notconnect the adapterto anydevices other thanyour computer.
Do not let water get into the adapter.
Do notblock the ventilationairwayof the adapter.
Keepthe adapter ina cooland ventilated place.
Donot stepon thepower cordor placeheavy objectson topof it.
Carefully tuck away the power cord and any cables away from pedestrian traffic.
Whenunpluggingthe power cord,donot pull onthecord itself butpullon the plug.
Keepthe adapter away from children.
Thetotal ampere ratingsof the equipment pluggedin should notexceed the ampererating of thecordif you areusing an
extensioncord.

When cleaning the computer, observe these steps:

Cleaning the Ventilation Grills:
Itis suggestedthat youclean the ventilationgrills regularlytomaintainoptimalthermal regulation of the notebook.To do
this, you may use a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner (with appropriate head adapter) to remove the dust buildup on the
ventilationgrills.

8. Power / Suspend Button
Thepower/suspendbuttonturnsthenotebookonandoffandit also acts as a system suspend key.Pressmomentarilytoturn
onthesystem. Press and holdforat least 1~3 secondstoturn off the system.Howthis key behaves canbedefined in [Start
>Settings > ControlPanel > PowerOptions > Advanced]menu. Press thepower / suspendbutton again toreturn from
thesuspendmode.
Note: When the system power is initially turned on, the Scroll-lock, Cap-lock, and Numeric keypad
LED indicators will light up momentarily to indicate the start of the Power-On sequence.
9.Silent Mode Button
Pressingthe keyenables thesystem to lower its power usage, therefore turning off the fan to achievelowest operating
noise.
10.InterVideo“Instant-On”MultimediaPlayerLaunch Key
Thekey allowsyou to watch movies filesin theoptical drive or hard disk drive withouthaving toboot to Windows.
11.InternetExplorer Quick Key
Pressingthebutton launches InternetExplorerin Windows.

The slot is where PC Card (Type II PCMCIA) is inserted.Press the eject button to release the PC Card.
Note: In some models, the PC Card Slot may not be available.

The system’s hard disk drive is located under the case cover.The HDD canbe upgraded to a larger capacity.

5.SystemDevice Cover
Thesystem’sprocessorwithcooler assembly,Wireless LAN module,and DDR memory module are locatedunder the case
cover.The systemmemory can be upgraded to a largercapacity.

AC Adapter

2.Adapter
Theadapterconverts alternating current intoconstant DC voltagefor thecomputer.
3.AC Plug
TheAC plugplugs tothe AC wall outlet.
Warning: Make sure you are using a standard 3-prong AC wall socket with a ground pin. If not, you
may feel a slight tingling sensation on any of the computer’s metal parts such as the I/O ports.This
is caused by leakage current when the AC adapter is not properly grounded (via the ground pin).
However, the amount of leakage current is within the safety regulation and is not harmful to
humanbody.
LED Status Indicator
TheLEDStatusIndicatordisplaystheoperating status of your notebook. When acertainfunctionisenabled,anLEDwill light
up.Thefollowingsection describes its indication.
System & Power Status Indicators
LED Graphic Symbol Indication
Green light indicates the WLAN module is active.
Blinking green light indicates the notebook is in suspend mode.
If the green light always turns on, it means that the system is in the Silent Mode.
(Note: In some models, Silent Mode may not be available.)
Blinking orange light indicates the battery is being charged (the system is OFF).
Blinking green light indicates the battery power is low when the system is turned
ON.
LED-off (Dark) indicates the system is in Power Off mode. Or the battery pack stops
charging (when the battery is over temperature 45°C).
Green light indicates the hard drive and/or optical drive is being accessed.
Green light indicates the numeric keypad is activated.
Green light indicates the cap-lock is activated.
Green light indicates the scroll-lock is activated.
Note: When the system power is initially turned on, the Scroll-lock, Cap-lock, and Numeric keypad
LED indicators will light up momentarily to indicate the start of the Power-On sequence.
