it as much as we enjoyed developing it. Our name is Qolsys, (pronounced kwal-siss) and stands for “Quality
Of Life Systems.” We built our organization on the belief that we can improve the quality of life through
innovation and technology.
This panel is the culmination of 3 years of development and testing, and we think you’ll love it.
It’s got everything you need in a single, easy to use device, and because we developed the software using
a Google Android operating system, we can continue to rene your experience over time with software
updates and innovative new devices. The IQ Panel is more than just a security panel, its a home automation
and control platform, giving you access and control over what is going on in your home at all times.
To take full advantage of the power of this amazing device you’ll want to download the free Alarm.
com app to your smartphone or tablet. This will be your link to your home when you are away, keeping
you connected and ensuring you have the control you need. We’ve tried to make the panel easy to use,
and provide this manual as a reference to help you take advantage of all the features available. If you have
questions on anything, don’t hesitate to contact your security or home control provider.

The IQ sensor is a sleek, high performance wireless sensor that detects openings and closings
of doors, windows, and anything else which opens and closes (cabinets, drawers, etc).
It works seamlessly with the Qolsys IQ Panel.
IQ DOOR/WINDOW SENSOR
Each IQ Door/Window Sensor comes with:
• One IQ Door/Window Sensor
• One Magnet
• One large strip double sided adhesive tape
• One small strip of double sided adhesive tape
• Six screws
• Two 3V CR2032 Lithium (5+ years battery life)

Important Tips:
• Avoid mounting IQ sensors in areas exposed to moisture or where temperature ranges
above 120 ° F
• Avoid mounting IQ sensors in areas with large quantity of metal or electrical wirings like a furnace
or utility room.
Where Do I place my IQ Sensors?
• Place the IQ Sensor within 100 feet of your IQ panel.
• Any entry point such as a window or door.
• Anything that opens and closes such as a cabinet, or a drawer.
Placing my IQ Door/Windows Sensors
• Mount the sensor on the door/window frame and the magnet on the door/window.
• If mounting a sensor on double doors, mount the sensor on the least-used door and the
magnet on the most used door.
• Place sensors at least 6 inches above the oor to avoid damaging them.
• Align triangle guides on the sensor and the magnet to ensure proper alignment.
• When the Door/Window is closed, the magnet should be within .4” of the sensor for
optimum sensitivity.

MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
Mounting with provided adhesive
• Remove backing one one side of the large double-sided tape and stick the exposed side on the back of
the sensor as shown.
• Remove the other side of the large double-‐sided tape and mount the device according to the
installation instructions.
• Remove the backing one side of the small double-‐sided tape and place on back of magnet.
• Lineup the magnet with the sensor using the arrows shown on each device respectively. Ensure the
sensor and magnet are not separated more than 0.4 inches as shown.
• Remove the second side of the double-sided tape and secure the magnet.
Mounting with provided hardware
• Remove the back of the sensor by pressing on the tab and pulling the cover o.
• Place the base of the sensor on the appropriate surface and use the 4 supplied screws to secure the
mounting plate to the chosen location.
• To secure the magnet, remove the backing on one side of the the small adhesive strip and place on the
back of the magnet or secure with screws.
• Line up the magnet with the sensor using the arrows. Ensure the sensor and magnet are not separated
more than 0.4 inches.
• Remove the second side of the double-‐sided tape and secure the magnet to the chosen location.

IQ MOTION SENSOR
This IQ motion is a high-performance wireless motion sensor that is completely tamper-proof
and equipped with pet immunity (up to 40 lbs) that prevents accidental triggers by household
pets. The beam from the IQ motion ranges up to 30 ft at an 80 degree angle of its placement.
Each IQ Motion Sensor comes with:
• One PIR Motion Sensor
• Two mounting screws
• Two AAA alkaline batteries

IQ MOTION SENSOR
Important Tips:
• Don’t place IQ motions in an area where your pet may be able to jump onto a bed, couch, etc.
• Pets over 40 lbs will trigger the motion detector.
• Only use IQ motion in away mode.
• Don’t place IQ motion near duct work or other large metallic surfaces that may aect its signal.
• Position the IQ motion in area in which intruder will most likely walk across the beam.
Where do I place my IQ Motion Sensors?
• At least 6 feet from the oor
• Within 100 feet of your IQ panel
• On a at wall, or corner of room

MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
• Remove back cover by pressing bottom button and sliding back cover o in an upward motion.
If a ush mount is required screw in the back cover on the wall using the screw templates as shown. If
corner mount is required use the screw templates as shown.
Mounting for Pet Sensitivity
• Mount the sensor 6.5 to 7 ft (0.9 and 1.5 m) high. For best results, install the sensor higher than the
highest point the pet might reach in the detection area.
Use the following formula to calculate the optimal mount height:
mount height = pet’s stature + (distance/20).
That means when the farthest sense area to sensor is 33 ft (10 m), and the pet’s stature is 2.6 ft (0.8 m),
mount 4.25 ft (1.3m) from the oor. (Do not exceed the highest 5 ft [1.5 m]).
• If the detection area contains furniture or other objects on which the pet can climb or jump, either (a)
remove these objects, (b) mount the sensor a safe distance above these objects, or (c) mask these areas.

can detect a rise in temperature in the room using the photoelectric chamber built into it.

Important Tips:
• Do not place in humid areas such as bathroom with a shower.
• Do not place in kitchens, garages, near furnaces, hot water heaters or space heaters.
• IQ Smoke Detectors are for residences only.
Where do I place my IQ Smoke Detector?
• On a wall, 4-12 inches below the ceiling
• On a ceiling, close to the center of the room or at least
4 inches away from the nearest wall
• In a hallway that is centrally located to several bedrooms

IQ GLASS BREAK SENSOR
Each IQ Glass Break Sensor comes with:
• One IQ Glass Breakage Sensor
• Two screws for wall mounting
• Two wall anchors
• Commercial strength adhesive strips for mounting
• Included Panasonic CR123A battery
(3-5 years of battery life)
The IQ Glass Break Sensor is specivaly designed to protect windows.
Triggered by the pitch and frequency of breaking glass, they are eective
within 25’ of the windows.

• Do not place in rooms with high temperatures
• Do not place in humid areas such as bathroom.
• Do not place directly on a window
Where Do I place my IQ Glass Break Sensors?
• At least 3.3 feet from windows being protected and 4 feet from sources of noise.
• Maximum distance from window is 25 feet.
• On shelf, wall, or possibly the ceiling.
• Needs to be in line of sight of window being protected
• Avoid corners and doors blocking the sensor

• Only works indoors at a 30 meter range from the IQ panel
• Don’t place in high temperature environments such as the attic or garage.
Where Do I place my IQ Smart Socket Sensors?
• Simply plug IQ Smart Socket into an outlet within 30 meters
of your IQ panel.
• With two available outlets on the IQ smart socket plug in a
device such as a lamp, entertainment system, or appliances.
