1Introduction
Quectel GSM EVB can be used for power consumption testing after modifications. This document mainly
introduces how to modify the GSM EVB to facilitate power consumption testing in power saving mode
(PSM) for Quectel NB-IoT BC95 series module, and to help customers obtain the accurate power
consumption data.

2GSM EVB Modifications
In order to use the GSM EVB to test the power consumption of NB-IoT BC95 series module, following
modifications should be conducted:
1. Remove resistors on R101, R102 and R110 for an external power source to supply power to the
module independently;
2. Solder a 0R resistor on R224 for the 5V power adaptor to supply power for RS-232 level shifter IC
independently.

3PSM Power Consumption Testing
Procedures
Once the GSM EVB is modified, please follow the steps below to test the power consumption in PSM for
BC95 series module:
1. Connect BC95-TE-Ato 60-pin connector, and fix it with studs and nuts;
2. Insert a USIM card;
3. Connect the main and debug port to the PC respectively with USB to UART converter cables;
4. Regulate the output voltage to 3.6V on DC power analyzer, and connect the binding posts to J103
according to the negative and positive electrodes, to supply power for the module separately;
5. Connect the GSM EVB to the 5V power adaptor, and switch S202 to ON state;
6. Press ON button on DC power analyzer to turn on the power supply in “Power Supply Outputs”area
to test the power consumption of the module;
7. Send AT+NCONFIG=AUTOCONNECT,FALSE and AT+CFUN=0 commands to let the module enter
PSM. For details aboutAT commands, please refer to document [1].
