2. Hardware Installation
Please follow the steps below to complete the installation of the SR6600 hardware.
1) Remove the external packaging, remove the product unit and place it on a stable surface. Check that
thecoolingfansarenotblockedandhavesufcientroomforventilation.(Please
avoid placing the
device near a source of water or where the product may be prone to damage.)

2) Install your hard disks into the removable rack and secure them in place with the screws included in
the parts bag. This will protect your hard disk from any unnecessary movement.
3) Once the hard disks have been installed, insert the removable racks into the SR66000 unit and close
the handles.
4) Connect the included cables between the appropriate ports on the SR6600 and the computer.
If daisy-chaining not required for the SR6600-5S-U3, connect the “Terminator”.
5) Turn on power to the SR6600. Log into the system via the LCD, RS232 or LAN connection then select
“Quick Volume and RAID Set Setup” to set the RAID Mode and Volume. Default Password: 0000
6) Turn on power to the computer. Your operating system will automatically identify the new hardware
and once recognized, follow the operating system’s instructions to format the hard disks. Once the
formatting is complete the device is ready for use.

Chapter 1 System Login
After completing the hardware installation process you must then set the RAID Level and Volume, or the
SR6600willnotberecognizedbythecomputer.Youcanlogintothesystemtoperformcongurationand
administration tasks using any of the three following methods:
•The LCD control panel mounted on the device
•Through a RS232 connection (VT100)
•Through the LAN Port using the Web GUI
Once the administrator has logged into the system through one of these three methods they can
congurethediskarraysettings.Thedefaultloginpasswordis:0000
1.1 LCD Control Panel Login
The LCD control panel mounted on the SR6600 is the primary user interface. You can manage and setup
the entire system using the LCD display and the four control buttons below it without using any other
hardware or software. The LCD panel can display all system information, status and settings. With the
exception of “Firmware Update”, all other functions can be controlled through the LCD control panel.

You can use the “Up” and “Down” function buttons to select or browse the available functions, use
“ENTER” to select or access the relevant settings, and the “ESC” button to exit the settings or return to
the next higher level directory. For an explanation of the functions please refer to Chapter 2.

1.2 RS2323 Cable Login
1.2.1 Login to VT100 via RS232 Cable
You can choose to login to the system by connecting to the unit through the RS232 Port on the back.
This method requires you to execute the VT-100 HyperTerminal program on the computer in order to
access the system settings. Connect the appropriate cable then turn on the SR6600 and computer. To
log in using the VT-100, refer to the following instructions:
1)SelectStart→ProgramFiles→Accessories→Communications→HyperTerminal.Congurethe
terminaldatasettings.First,deneanameforthisterminal.
2) Select port.

3)Conguretherelevantdatasettings(refertothetablebelow).Oncesetupiscomplete,selectFile→
Contentt→Settingsandsettheterminalmodetovt100.Oncethesettingshavebeensetselect“OK”
to make the connection.
4) Once connected, enter the password to log in. Default Password: 0000
1.2.2 Login to Web GUI via RS232 Cable (Windows systems only)
IfyouchoosetologinviatheWebGUIoveraRS232Connection,youmustrstinstallthe“GUI-
Com2Http” software. Insert the included CD-ROM in the CD-ROM Drive then under “Management
Software” select “GUI-COM2Http” to install the software automatically. Alternatively, you can go directly
into the CD-ROM’s contents, open the “GUI-COM2Http” folder under “Management Software” and click
on “Setup.exe” to launch the installer.

Once the installation is complete log in by referring to the following instructions:
1)Runthe“GUI-Com2Http”program,denethenecessarysettingsthencheckthe“LaunchingWeb
Browser when server started!” box.
Explanation of Settings
1. TCP Port: A value between 1~65535. The default is 81.
2. RAID Connected to: COM1, COM2, COM3… etc.
3. BaudRate: 1200 ~ 115200. The default is 115200.
2) Click “Start Server” and the program will automatically search for the SR6600 and display the
relevant information. Once the SR6600 has been found a separate login window will appear.

3) After entering the account and password the setup screen will be shown..
1.3 Login to Web GUI via LAN Port
If you choose to log into the Web GUI over a LAN connection, please connect the SR6600 to the network
and the SR6600 will automatically acquire an IP address from your DHCP server. If an IP address can’t
be acquired, the SR6600 will automatically set an IP address. (The default IP is 192.168.1.100)
The IP address used will be automatically shown on the unit’s LCD display. You can access the login
interface by launching a web browser and typing in the shown IP address. After entering the account and
password you will be logged in to the system.

1.4 Quick Installation
1) Click “Quick Function” and “Quick Create” will pop up. Click to enter it.
2) This screen displays Total Number of Disks, Raid Mode, Capacity of Disk, and Initialization Mode.
Basic setups require no changes. You may simply follow the default settings (User may also make
changes as needed)
Notes : A : The Raid Mode supports RAID0、1+0、1+0+Spare、3、3+Spare、5、5+Spar、6、6+ Spare
B : The hard disk can be partitioned into user’s desired volume. The remaining capacity can still be used, so
there is no waste of disk space.
C : Initialization Mode includes the three options:
a.BackgroundInitialization:ItallowsuseofharddiskduringInitializationbutdeliverslowerefciency.
b. Foreground Initialization: Use of the hard disk will follow Initialization.
c. No Int (To Rescue Volume): Use of hard disk without Initialization. You are advised to choose option 2
(system default setting.)

3)Checkthe“ConrmTheOperation”box,andthenclick“Submit”

5) Please select “Restart Controller” under “System Controls”.

6) Click “Restart Controller”, and the following screen will appear. Check the option in the red box, and
then click “Submit”
7) After this screen appears, check the option in the red box again, and then click “Submit”.SR6600 will
restart, and the setup of SR6600 is completed.
8) Connect SR6600 with Computer
9) To format the hard disk, please right-click the “My Computer” icon and then select “Manage”

10) As shown below, please select “Disk Management”. The unformatted hard disk will appear (as shown
in the red box).
11) Right-click the “Disk 1” to pop up three options. Please execute “Initialize Disk”.

18) Disk will then be formatted. Once it is completed, the following screen will appear.
