FOREWORD.
Congratulations on the purchase of your Redexim- Charterhouse OVERSEEDER. To ensure the safe
and lasting operations of this OVERSEEDER you (and anyone using the machine) should read and
understand this user’s manual. A complete knowledge of the contents of the manual is necessary in
order to ensure the safe use of this machine.
The OVERSEEDER is not an independently operating machine. It is the responsibility of the user to
use the correct tractor.The user will also need to check the tractor / OVERSEEDER combination on
safety aspects, noise level, user instructions and risk assessment.
The OVERSEEDER is intended exclusively for grass fields or areas on which grass can grow.
On the following page, we will begin with the safety instructions. Every user must be familiar with
these instructions and must follow them carefully. Attached and below you will find a registration
card, which should be returned to us so that we are able to process any future claims.
In this manual, many instructions are given which are stated in a number sequence. The user must
follow the instructions according to this sequence. If the * appears this refers to safety instructions. If
the @ is used, this refers to a tip and/ or note.

THIS OVERSEEDER PRODUCT IS DELIVERED TO THE CUSTOMER ACCOMMPANIED BY
A GUARANTEE AGAINST DEFECTS IN THE MATERIALS USED. THIS GUARANTEE
APPLIES FOR A PERIOD OF 12 MONTHS AS OF THE DATE OF PURCHASE.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.
1. Always use the OVERSEEDER with the correct tractor as described in the
technical information
2. The user is responsible for a safe Tractor/OVERSEEDER combination.
The combination must be tested for noise, safety, risk and easy usage. It is
also necessary to draw up user instructions.
3. The OVERSEEDER is suited exclusively to grass fields.
4. Every OVERSEEDER user must be fully informed of the information
contained in the user manual.
5. Inspect the ground where the OVERSEEDER is to be applied. Remove loose
obstacles, avoid uneven ground.
6. Never step off the tractor if the engine is still running.
7. Ensure that other people are standing at least 4 mtr. (14' ) away from the
OVERSEEDER
8. Use appropriate clothing. Wear strong shoes with a steel enforced toe cap,
long trousers, tie up long hair. Do not have any loose pieces of clothing.
9. Never try to force the OVERSEEDER, a situation which is visible in
unstable behavior of the OVERSEEDER.
10. Check the OVERSEEDER once a week to ensure there are no loose screws
or nuts and bolts.
11. The OVERSEEDER may never be used without protection covers and
safety stickers.
12. NEVER crawl underneath the OVERSEEDER. If you need to work
underneath, turn the OVERSEEDER on its front.
13. Always switch off the engine, before starting any maintenance, adjustment or
repair. Also block the OVERSEEDER against sinking and block it against
forward/backward movement or sliding.
14. Use only the original OVERSEEDER spare parts in order to ensure the
safe operation of the machine.
15. Never use the OVERSEEDER in the dark, in heavy rain, on frozen ground,
stormy conditions or on slopes greater than 20 degrees.
16. Maintain a log book of repairs.
17. If any modifications are carried out on the machine the CE certification
mark will be no longer valid. The User/Dealer himself must then have the
machine re-certified.

2.0 FIRST SETUP.
The machine is delivered horizontal on a pallet. To install the machine behind a tractor,
handle as follows:
1. Mount the machine to the 3-point linkage of the tractor.
2. Remove the straps that connect the machine to the pallet.
3. Raise the machine from the pallet.
4. Limit the side movement of the bottom link arms till 150 mm ( 6”).
5. Adjust top link till the seed hopper is vertical.
6. Check the machine on loose items.
7. The machine is ready for use.
3.0 GENERAL CONTROLS
In fig.1. some key details of the machine are shown, as follows:
1. Rear roller. Can be filled with water or sand via opening 3. NOTE. Remove the water
before the weather starts freezing.
2. Rear roller scarper. Can be adjusted.
3. Fill opening of rear roller, see point 1.
4. Independent drive wheel for seed box. Pressure rating is 1.3 bar ( 19 PSI).
5. Read out of main seed delivery setting.
6. Lock nuts for main seed box setting lever.
7. Tension spring for keeping independent seed box drive wheel on the ground. NOTE: This
spring is under heavy tension. Do not tough and or remove without taken caution.
8. Outside disk cleaner. NOTE. The inside cleaners can be adjusted as well. Not shown in
this picture, see the spare part page.
9. Safety decal 921.280.402. Keep 4 mtr (14’) distance to the machine/ Turn engine off
when maintaining or repairing machine. Should always be on at each side of the
machine. Replace immediately when damaged or lost.
10. Support stands. Use when the machine is disconnected from the tractor or when repair/
maintenance is undertaken.
11. Compression spring for each individual disc assembly. These springs are under heavy pre
tension. Be very careful when accessing this area. Do not remove the lock chain behind
the spring without taken pre cautions.

4.0 WORKING DEPTH ADJUSTMENT.
The working depth can be set by the top link. If the top link is shortened, the machine tilts
forward, which increases the seeding depth. This is only true as long as the rear roller stays on
the ground. If the machine weight is not enough to accomplish this, the rear roller can be
filled with water and/ or sand. Do not fill more than 80%, so the material can expand when it
warms up.
NOTE: Remove the water before the weather starts freezing.
5.0 SEED BOX .
The seed hopper used on the 1500-A is a very accurate one. It will handle very fine and very
coarse type seeds. The setting is not difficult, but can be done by three different settings. It is
important to understand the seed box assembly, before we can set it correctly. In the next
chapter, we will first explain the working of the seed box, see Fig.2.
5.1 SEED BOX ASSEMBLY.
In Fig.2. a section of the seed box is drawn. It is important to understand the way the seed
box, with its different adjustments work. Hereunder each component is described, together
with some key notes.

1. Seed hopper.
2. Agitator, driven by the gearbox 8.
3. Bent Seed Guide Plate. This plate closes the opening under the Seed Distribution
Sprocket 15. The position, or better distance B is controlled by handle 18. For all
grass seeds this handle 18 should be set at position 1 ( closest distance). Only when
coarser seeds ( like beans) are used, the opening should be wider. It is allowed to set
handle 18 at maximum setting when the hopper needs emptying. NEVER move the
handle 18 back to a smaller setting with seed in the hopper. The Bent Seed Guide
Plate or shaft 4 may get damaged.
4. Hexagonal shaft that connects all Bent Seed Guide Plates 3 to handle 18.
5. Secure strip keeping the Funnel Beam 13 in place. When all are pushed down, the
Funnel Beam can be moved out to the rear of the machine.
6. Speed adjuster. This setting is the main one to use for changing the seed delivery.
From 0-100 it increases the rotation speed C of shaft 12. The faster the shaft runs ( at
a constant input speed from the Drive Wheel ( not drawn), the more seed it delivers.
7. Lock nuts for securing the speed setting 6.
8. Main gearbox driving the shafts 12 and 2. The gearbox is driven by an independent
Drive wheel that follows contours apart from the machine itself.
9. Reset knob at the square meter gauge.
10. Square meter gauge. One digit is 50 square meter. (535 square ft.).
11. Read-out decal of the main seed delivery setting. Ranges from 0-100 ( 0-80).
12. Main Seed Sprockets Drive Shaft. This shaft is driven by Gearbox 8 at a speed set by
Speed Adjuster 6.

13. Funnel Beam. All the funnels funnel the seed down from hopper to disc assemblies
underneath. The beam is locked by Secure Fingers 5. Can be taken out and assembled
upside down for seed calibration, see next chapter. DON’T FORGET TO TURN IT
BACK.
14. Main chassis of the machine.
15. Seed Distribution Sprocket. Is fixed to the drive shaft with a grub screw. With the
Second Seed Delivery Lever 16 we can set the distance A, which is the length of the
Sprocket teeth that collects and distribute the seed, see fig.2. If Lever 16 is set at 0,
distance A= 0, which means no seed distribution, no matter what speed is set with 6.
So the seed distribution is a combination of the setting of Lever 16 and the speed
setting with 6. For normal grass seeds, we recommend setting Lever 16 at position 20.
Next us the Main Speed Adjuster 6 for changing the seed delivery. If very fine seeds
have to be seeded, reduce the setting of Lever 16. Open Lever 16 when coarser seeds
are to be used. It is very important that the size A is the same for ALL seeding
outlets. If not equal, the outlets will distribute different amount of seeds in different
slits. So be careful when a Seed Distribution Sprocket is replaced.
16. Second Seed Distribution Lever. See # 15 for more information. Standard setting for
grass seeds is 20.

18. Third Seed Distribution Lever. Should always be in the 1st setting, see point # 3
above.

5.2 SEED DISTRIBUTION AMOUNTS..
For a common type of grass seed, we have checked the seed distribution for some different
settings. This gives you a starting point. For more information how to check, see next
Chapter.
In the table underneath, the seed distribution for English Raygrass ( Lodium Pirenne) is given,
by different settings of the Speed Adjuster 6, at the moment the Third Lever 18 was set in 1st
and the Second Lever 16 at 20, see Fig.2.

5.3 SELF TEST FOR SEED DISTRIBUTION.
For other grass seeds or as a test, we are able to check the real seed delivery at different
settings of the machine. Specially when seeds are used which differ in size from the average
seed mentioned in chapter 5.2. The way to do the self test is as follows:
-Put the machine on a hard surface, with the independent side wheel of the ground (
Put something under the rear roller and use the front stands of the machine.
-Remove the funnel beam 13, see chapter 5.1, and put it back in upside down.
-With normal grass, leave Lever 18 in first setting and Lever 16 at 20.
-Add some grass seed in the hopper equally divided.

-Set the Speed Adjuster # 6 at 40.
-Rotate the wheel 36 time, weight the seed that has been distributed by taking the
Funnel Beam 13 out. The weight you measure (in Kg or lbs) is the amount of seed per
100 square meter, which is about 1075 square feet.
-Repeat this procedure for other settings of the Speed Adjuster # 6.
-If you can’t reach the distribution you are looking for, repeat the procedure again, but
change the setting of the Second Lever 16 first. If the distribution was too low
initially, open the Second Lever 16 further. If too much close Lever 16.
Do not tough the Third Lever 18 for normal types of grass seeds. Only if you use larger sized
seeds, lever 18 needs to be opened. The self test should prove how far.
6.0 GROUNDSPEED.
The forward working speed, should be limited till 12 km/hour ( 8 mph). Faster is not allowed.
@ Make only straight passes. Wide curves are allowed, but be careful not to push the machine
sideward.
@ The unit can be lowered into the ground and raised without stopping the tractor as long as
the speed is below 6 km/hour ( 4 mph).
7.0 GENERAL USAGE OF THE OVERSEEDER.
The OVERSEEDER can only be used when the circumstances are right. Check the following
items:
1. Are there any loose objects on the field. If so, these must be removed first.
2. Are there any slopes. The maximum slope for the OVERSEEDER is 20 degrees. Always
operate the OVERSEEDER from the top to the bottom of a slope.
3. Are there any hard objects in the ground. If so, operate the OVERSEEDER with a very low
speed, or adjust working depth.
4. Is there any danger of flying objects such as golf balls, which could distract the attention
of the driver ? If so, the OVERSEEDER can not be operated at that moment.
5. Is there any danger of subsidence or land/mud slides ? If so, the OVERSEEDER cannot be
operated on the field at that moment.
6. Is the ground frozen or very wet. Postpone operation till circumstances are better.
8.0 SOME COMMON NOTES FOR USAGE OF MACHINE.
Some user information for the OVERSEEDER:
-A field can be done twice or three times in different directions, creating diamonds.
-Don’t make too tight curves. The turf or the machine may get damaged.
-The new seeding systems allows usage of very fine to very coarse seeds.
-A burr may occur to a disk when a hard object is hit. Grind it carefully away.
-When the discs become wet, the seed may get caught to the inside of the discs.
Postpone the operation or prevent the discs from getting wet (rain).
-A hectare counter ( European size) counts the hectares by 1/100 hectare.
-Never drive backwards with the independent drive wheel on the ground.

9.0 TRANSPORT OF THE OVERSEEDER.
The user is responsible for the transport of the OVERSEEDER behind the tractor along the
public streets. Check on the national legislations. Across open ground a maximum speed of
20 km/h (13 mph) applies. In view of the weight of the OVERSEEDER, a higher speed could
be dangerous for the driver and bystanders. The machine could also suffer damage due to jolt
which can occur with higher speeds.
* At least 20% of the tractor weight should rest on the front axle when the machine is lifted.
10.0 UNCOUPLING OF THE OVERSEEDER.
The machine can be disconnected from the tractor as follows,
1. Look for an even hard area.
2. Drop and lock the support stand 10 (fig.1.).
3. Drop the machine gentle on the ground. Secure the rear roller against rolling.
4. Remove the top link
5. Remove the bottom link.
•The area needs to be level.
•Additional weight has to be taken off first..
11.0 PROBLEM ANALYSIS.
