Installation
Quickresponsesprinklersareintendedforstandardarea
coverage and standard water densities as specified in
NFPA-13. Quick response sprinklers and standard re-
sponsesprinklersshouldnotbeintermixed.
TheModelGFRRecessedQuickResponseSprinkleristo
beinstalledasshown. TheModelF1orF2Escutcheonsil-
lustrated are the only recessed escutcheons to be used
with the Model GFRPendentorHorizontalSidewallSprin-
klers. Theuseofanyotherrecessedescutcheonwillvoid
allapprovalsasaquickresponsesprinklerandnegateall
warranties.
When installing Model GFR Sprinklers, use the Model D
Sprinkler Wrench and when installing Model GFR Re-
cessedSprinklers,usetheModelGFR1SprinklerWrench.
Anyothertypeofwrench may causesprinklerdamage.
Maintenance
TheModelsGFRandGFRRecessedSprinklersshouldbe
inspectedquarterlyandthesprinklersystemmaintainedin
accordance with NFPA 25. Do not clean the sprinklers
withsoapandwater,ammoniaoranyothercleaningfluids.
Removeanydustusingasoftbrushorgentlevacuuming.
Removeanysprinklerwhichhasbeenpainted(otherthan
factoryapplied)ordamagedinanyway. Astockofspare
sprinklers should be maintained to allow quick replace-
mentofdamagedoroperatedsprinklers. Priortoinstalla-
tion,sprinklersshouldbemaintainedintheoriginalcartons
andpackaginguntilused. Thisminimizesthepotentialfor
damageresultinginimproperoperationornon-operation.
