1 Preface
The operation of the R&S CMW is described in several user manuals:
●The R&S CMW user manual describes the base software, common features of the
firmware applications and basic principles for manual operation and remote control.
There is a separate manual version for each R&S CMW model.
●Additional user manuals, like this document, describe the firmware applications.
There is only one version of these manuals for all R&S CMW models.

library updates and documentation updates, for example updates of this document.
1.1 How to Read Firmware Application Chapters
Each firmware application is described in a separate chapter. These chapters can be
read independently of each other. However, they are all organized as follows:

The chapters "System Overview" and "Remote Control" in the R&S CMW user manual
provide additional important information independent of the individual firmware applica-
tions. The most important parts are referenced by the firmware application descrip-
tions.
1.1.1 General Description
This section provides a general description of the firmware application, independent of
a specific operation mode (manual or remote control). It gives a high-level introduction
to the capabilities of the firmware application. Background information related to the
network standard is given as far as it is directly related to administrable parameters.
For measurement applications a detailed description of measurement results and a
description of configurable limits is given, including the relation to conformance require-
ments defined in network standard specifications.

1.1.2 Application Sheets
This optional section provides short application examples for select issues and related
background information.
1.1.3 GUI Reference
The GUI reference describes the manual operation of the firmware application via the
Graphical User Interface (GUI).
The description of a configuration dialog usually starts with a screenshot presenting the
preset values of the parameters (sometimes preset values are modified to enable hid-
den parts of a dialog). Below the screenshot all shown parameters are described. For
each single parameter a link to the corresponding command description in the "Com-
mand Reference" is provided. Ranges for numeric parameters and reset values are
given there.
For measurement results links to the corresponding command descriptions are provi-
ded (commands to retrieve the results). The measurement results are described in
detail in the "General Description".
1.1.4 Programming Examples
The programming examples show how to control and configure the firmware applica-
tion via a remote-control program and how to retrieve measurement results. The exam-
ples consist of comprehensive command sequences. You can check just a single com-
mand of a sequence to get an example for the syntax of this single command. But you
can also consider an entire sequence showing the commands in the context of a com-
mand script, under consideration of dependencies and required orders of the com-
mands.
The command sequences are written with the intention to list most commands of the
firmware application. They do not show the fastest way for a given configuration task.
The fastest way would use many reset values and omit the corresponding commands.
The examples are referenced by the command descriptions of the "Command Refer-
ence".
1.1.5 Command Reference
The command reference provides information on the remote commands of the firm-
ware application. The commands are grouped according to their function.
Each command description indicates the syntax of the command header and of the
parameters. For input parameters the allowed ranges, reset values and default units
are listed, for returned values the expected ranges and default units. Most commands
have a command form and a query form. Exceptions are marked by "Setting only",
"Query only" or "Event". Furthermore a link to the "Programming Examples" is provided
and the first software version supporting the command is indicated.

2 1xEV-DO Signaling
With the "1xEV-DO Rev. 0 / A, basic signaling" application (option R&S CMW-KS880),
the R&S CMW can emulate a single-carrier 1xEV-DO Access Network (AN) transmit-
ting a 1xEV-DO forward signal to which the 1xEV-DO Access Terminal (AT) under test
can synchronize. The R&S CMW also provides the necessary higher-layer protocol
functions so that the AT can perform a location update in order to establish connectiv-
ity.
The basic signaling functionality of R&S CMW-KS880 can be extended by the following
options:
●"R&S CMW-KS881: 1xEV-DO Rev. B, basic signaling" that adds support for Rev. B
(multi-carrier 1xEV-DO)
●"R&S CMW-KS888: CDMA2000® hybrid mode, generic signaling" that adds sup-
port for 1xEV-DO/1xRTT hybrid network setups
●"R&S CMW-KS890: 1xEV-DO Rev. 0 / A, adv. signaling" that provides advanced
signaling configuration.
●R&S CMW-KE100 and R&S CMW-KE800 that enable internal fading (fader I/Q
board also required).
Most tests can be performed using the 1xEV-DO "Multi Evaluation" measurement
(included in option R&S CMW-KM880). Data transfer tests can be performed using the
Data Application Unit (DAU, option R&S CMW-B450x and R&S CMW-KM050).
Additional measurements on both forward and reverse link are provided by the 1xEV-
DO signaling application.

2.1 What's New in this Revision

These sections provide an overview of typical test setups for the individual scenarios.
Using several signaling applications in parallel
Depending on the installed hardware and software options, you can run several signal-
ing application instances in parallel.
Example: Assume an instrument with two Signaling Unit Universal (SUU), one Signal-
ing Unit Wideband (SUW), four TX paths and four RX paths.
This instrument allows you to run for example:
●two 1xEV-DO signaling instances plus one instance of an SUW signaling applica-
tion (e.g. LTE) or
●one 1xEV-DO signaling instance plus one instance of an SUU signaling application
(e.g. GSM) and one instance of an SUW signaling application.
The 1xEV-DO and GSM signaling applications both use the SUU. Signaling instance 1
uses SUU1, while instance 2 uses SUU2. An SUU can only be used by one instance at
a time. You can run for example 1xEV-DO signaling instance 2 and GSM signaling

instance 1 in parallel, but not instance 1 of both applications. Exception is hybrid mode,

2.2.1.1 Test Setup for Standard Cell Scenario
The AT under test can be connected to one of the bidirectional RF connectors (e.g. RF
1 COM or RF 2 COM) at the front panel of the R&S CMW. No additional cabling and
no external trigger is needed. The input level ranges of all RF COM connectors are
identical.
The bidirectional RF connection between the tester and the DUT carries both the for-
ward and the reverse signal:
●The R&S CMW transmits the forward (access network) signal to which the access
terminal can synchronize in order to perform session negotiation and establish the
connection. The forward signal is used to transfer signaling messages and user
data to the AT.
●The AT transmits a reverse signal that the R&S CMW can receive and decode in
order to set up a connection and perform various measurements.

2.2.1.2 Test Setup for Hybrid Mode Scenario
A test setup for a connection with CDMA2000 1xRTT and CDMA2000 1xEV-DO
involves two forward and two reverse signals. The two signals must be transmitted via
different RF converters.
For the HW specification installed at at the R&S CMW see "Prerequisites"
on page 20 and "Prerequisites" on page 21 .
Use a bidirectional RF connector for the first forward and reverse signal and a separate
RF connector for the second forward and reverse link. Connect both RF connectors to
an external combiner and connect the combiner to the DUT according to the figure
below.

2.2.1.3 Test Setup for External Fading Scenarios
In order to superimpose fading on the baseband signal, you can integrate an R&S
AMU200A into a test setup. The R&S AMU200A must be connected to the digital I/Q
interface of the R&S CMW. At least one I/Q board must be installed at the R&S CMW
for that purpose (option R&S CMW-B510x/-B520x).
All connections between R&S CMW and R&S AMU200A are established via the rear
panels of the instruments.
The following figure shows a setup with two downlink paths using the first I/Q board
(DIG IQ 1 to 4).

For a setup with only one downlink path you need only two of the four I/Q data connec-
tions.
The RF connections between R&S CMW and DUT must be established in the same
way as without external fading.
2.2.1.4 Test Setup for Internal Fading Scenarios
If internal fading shall be used, the test setup is the same as for the corresponding sce-
nario without fading.
2.2.2 Initiating Signaling Tests
The 1xEV-DO forward signal is turned on as long as the "1xEV-DO Signaling" softkey
indicates the "ON" state, see chapter 2.3.2, "Signaling Control", on page 50. After
switching on, wait until the hour glass symbol has disappeared.
When forward signal transmission has been turned on, the connection states can be
controlled via hotkeys at the R&S CMW and via actions at the 1xEV-DO AT.

The default settings of the R&S CMW generally ensure a forward signal with suitable
characteristics for session negotiation and connection setup. The most important set-
tings can be modified directly in the main view.
Performing measurements
The required settings vary depending on the measurement to be performed. However,
the general procedure outlined below is applicable to most measurements.
1. Connect your AT to the R&S CMW (see chapter 2.2.1, "Test Setups", on page 12).
2. Configure the "1xEV-DO Signaling" application according to the test to be per-
formed.
3. To turn on the forward signal, press ON | OFF and wait until the "1xEV-DO Signal-
ing" softkey indicates the "ON" state and the hour glass symbol has disappeared.
4. Switch on the AT.
The AT synchronizes to the forward signal and initiates a session negotiation. The
R&S CMW enters the "Session Open" state.
5. Press the "Connect" hotkey to set up a connection.
Note the connection states displayed in the main view and wait until the AT state
indicates "Connected". In connected state, the main view provides also session
details and AT information.
6. To switch to the measurement application, press the "Go to..." softkey. The "1xEV-
DO RX Measurement" is provided by the 1xEV-DO signaling firmware application.
The "1xEV-DO Multi Evaluation" measurements are available as option
R&S CMW-KM880.
In the latter case, the softkey also selects the combined signal path scenario in the
measurement. The scenario allows you to use the measurement in parallel to the
signaling application and configures compatible measurement settings (e.g. RF
and trigger source settings).
7. Configure and start the measurement.
Trigger Source for Multi Evaluation Measurements
In the "1xEV-DO Multi Evaluation" measurement use an "1xEV-DO Super Frame" trig-
ger source to obtain valid transmit time error results.
Checks in case of failed session negotiation
If session negotiation fails, check the following R&S CMW settings:
●The AT must support the selected 1xEV-DO band class.
●The "Expected Power" must be in accordance with the reverse signal power.
●The "1xEV-DO Power" must be sufficient so that the AT under test can receive the
forward link signal.
●The external attenuation settings should be in accordance with characteristics of
the RF connection.

●The security settings in the "Network" section of the configuration dialog must be in
accordance with the AT capabilities.
Order of steps
The measurements of the "1xEV-DO Signaling" application may be initiated before
turning on the forward signal. The measurement starts as soon as the preconditions
are fulfilled. An RX measurement for instance starts as soon as the connection has
been established.
If the measurement does not start
If the measurement does not start at all while the signaling application generates a
downlink signal, verify that the combined signal path scenario is selected in the mea-
surement.
2.2.3 End to End Packet Data Connections
The R&S CMW with the data application unit provides an end to end packet data con-
nection between the core IP network and the access terminal.
2.2.3.1 Data Application Unit (DAU)
To set up a WCDMA packet data connection you need the Data Application Unit (DAU)
in addition to the "1xEV-DO signaling" application. The DAU itself is available as option
R&S CMW-B450x and the DAU measurements as R&S CMW-KM050. For IPv4 option
R&S CMW-KA100 is required, for IPv6 additionally option R&S CMW-KA150.
For configuration of the DAU, e.g. for initial configuration of the DAU IP settings, please
refer to the DAU's user manual.
When the packet data connection has been established, you can use the DAU to per-
form IP-based data tests (see DAU documentation).
You can also perform "RX Meas Data", see chapter 2.3.12.5, "Data View (Tab)",
on page 108.
Or you can perform other measurements that do not require a DAU, e.g. TX measure-
ments or "PER" or "Throughput" RX measurements chapter 2.3.12, "RX Measure-
ment", on page 98.
Most measurements require the transmission of data. For a test mode connection the
signaling application takes care of forward link data transmission. For a packet data
connection the signaling application does not transfer data. So you must generate IP
traffic by other means, e.g. using the DAU. You may for example initiate an IPerf mea-
surement or an FTP data transfer. For details refer to the DAU documentation. Some
DAU measurements and applications require to enter the IP address(es) assigned to
the AT. You can retrieve this information from the AT info section, see "AT IPv4
Address, IPv6 Prefix" on page 48.

Please refer to the DAU user manual:
●for configuration of the DAU, e.g. for initial configuration of the DAU IP settings;
●for limitations, if more signaling instances use end to end connections in parallel.
2.2.3.2 Packet Applications
The packet applications are part of the 1xEV-DO application layer and are used for
transporting user data between the access terminal and the access network, see chap-
ter 2.3.8.1, "Application Layer", on page 71 .
The supported standard packet applications are listed in the table below.

●The Default Packet Application (DPA) is specified in 3GPP2 C.S0024.
For DPA a Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) connection is established to transmit user
data. Authentication uses PAP/CHAP algorithm.
●The Enhanced Multi-Flow Packet Application (EMPA) and Multi-link-Multi-flow
Packet Application (MMPA) are specified in 3GPP2 C.S0063.
EMPA and MMPA provides multiple link flows that carry user data between the AT
and the access network.
Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) connection is used only for the authentication.
Authentication uses the challenge-response algorithm of Extensible Authentication
Protocol with Authentication and Key Agreement prime mechanism (EAP-AKA').
2.2.3.3 PDSN Functionality
A Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN) is a component of a CDMA2000 mobile network
which acts as the connection point between the radio access and IP networks. This
component is responsible for managing PPP sessions between the mobile provider's
core IP network and the mobile station.
The DAU implements basic PDSN functionality.
2.2.3.4 Setup Procedure
To set up an end-to-end packet data connection, perform the following steps:
1. Configure the IP settings of DAU according to the DAU's user manual.
2. Select the "Packet" application mode, see chapter 2.3.8.1, "Application Layer",
on page 71.

3. If network revision A shall be used, select the preferred packet application, see
"Packet Configuration > Preferred Application" on page 78.
Note, that the network release 0 uses always DPA and the network revision B uses
always MMPA.
4. If an EMPA/MMPA session shall be established, configure the network security
parameters, see chapter 2.3.9.5, "Security Settings", on page 94.
5. Configure any other settings as desired (as for a connection without the DAU) and
switch on the cell signal.
6. Register / attach the AT, see chapter 2.2.2, "Initiating Signaling Tests", on page 15.
7. Initiate a mobile originated packet data connection at the AT.
It is not possible to initiate a mobile terminated packet data connection at the
instrument.
There is no support for PPP authentication (for DPA) in the current release of
R&S CMW.
2.2.4 Hybrid Mode
In hybrid mode (option R&S CMW-KS888), the AT registers in CDMA2000® 1xRTT
and opens a session in CDMA2000® 1xEV-DO at the same time to support voice and
data services. As the AT monitors the control channels of each network, it is now pos-
sible to connect calls in either standard without reregistering or renegotiating a session.
While the mobile has an open traffic channel allocated for a CDMA2000® 1xEV-DO
data call, the mobile continues to perform idle state procedures on the CDMA2000®
1xRTT system. When it is time to decode the CDMA2000® 1xRTT paging channel slot,
the mobile will tune to the CDMA2000® 1xRTT frequency. If a paging request comes in
and the mobile's Data Dedicated Transmission Mode (DDTM) setting is OFF, the
mobile will transition the CDMA2000® 1xEV-DO data call from a PPP connected state
to a PPP dormant state and process the incoming page request.
In addition, the mobile may have the ability to originate a CDMA2000® 1xRTT voice
call during a CDMA2000® 1xEV-DO data call, again putting the data call to dormant
state.
2.2.4.1 Hardware Requirements
The CDMA2000® 1xRTT and CDMA2000® 1xEV-DO signaling applications both use
the SUU (Signaling Unit Universal) as the same hardware platform and can, in the
case of the hybrid mode, even run simultaneously on one SUU.
The R&S CMW offers two ways to achieve the hybrid mode:
●using a single SUU (scenario hybrid mode)
●using two (or more) SUUs

In the latter case, the necessary synchronization is obtained via adequate time set-
tings.
2.2.4.2 Time Settings
Synchronized CDMA system time is critical for hybrid mode. See chapter 2.3.7.8,
"Time Settings", on page 68 for details about the possible time settings.
Time Settings for One SUU
Each SUU can have only one time setting at a time. With CDMA2000 signaling and
1xEV-DO signaling sharing the same SUU, the time settings will affect each other. The
first of these FWAs to start will apply the time settings. Unless the parameter "Apply
Time At" has been set to enforce the time setting, any subsequent Signal On of either
one of the FWAs will use these time settings and ignore the other time setting parame-
ters.
This makes sure that unnecessary updates are avoided and that the time settings for
both FWAs are synchronized when the hybrid mode has been selected. If one FWA is
running in hybrid mode and the 2nd FWA is being started with new time settings, this
will affect the running FWA and lead to call drops. It is recommended to switch both
FWAs off, change the time settings on one FWA and then switch them subsequently
on starting with the FWA that applies the new time settings.
Time Settings for Two SUU
Generally, the time settings on two or more SUU are independent from each other,
even if they are both in one CMW. The reason for this is that it shall be possible to run
each SUU with entirely different time settings.
The only way to synchronize the time settings between two SUU is to use the "Sync
Code". One SUU needs to be configured as a master, the 2nd SUU as a slave:
●On the master SUU, configure time source to "CMW Time" or "Date/Time"
●Switch Signal-On on master SUU, the "Sync Code" parameter will be updated.
●On the slave SUU, configure "Time Source" to "Sync Code" and copy the value of
the master's "Sync Code".
●Switch Signal-On on slave SUU. The time is now synchronized.
2.2.4.3 Hybrid Mode on a Single SUU
In this mode, the signaling firmware applications CDMA2000 and 1xEV-DO run in par-
allel on the same SUU (in particular they run on the same R&S CMW).
Prerequisites
The following minimum hardware and software configuration for hybrid mode with a
single SUU is required:
