General Remarks
The Auto-Preserving Cooker offers a great variety of pos-
sible uses, not just for preserving, but also for cooking,
warming up, indirect warming up in water, preparing hot
drinks, blanching of vegetables etc.
Thick liquids which tend to scorch need to be warmed
slowly whilst stirring continuously.
In case your appliance boils dry, there is an additional
safety feature to prevent the appliance from overheating.
In this case allow the appliance to cool well before lling
it with water again, otherwise there is a risk of scalding
by sudden development of steam, moreover the enamelled
surface can get damaged.
At rst use an odour can develop which will soon disappear,
however.
For hygienic reasons we recommend that you ll the app-
liance with approx. 5 litres of water - temperature selector
should be set to ‚Entsaften‘ (juice making) - and bring the
water to boil prior to rst use.
Capacity
The Auto-Preserving Cooker holds 29 litres. The level of
liquid in the cooker must not be higher than 4 cm below
the rim.
Important Instructions For Using The Appliance
• Thoroughly clean the inside of the container prior to
rst use.
• Always ll with water before switching on the appliance.
• Do not overll water container, leave at least 4 cm space
below the container rim.
If overlled, hot water can spurt out.

•Attention: The appliance will become hot when in use,
so please only grab it on its insulated handles.

Temperature Control/Setting The Thermostat
The appliance is equipped with a precision thermostat
(capillary tube thermostat). The thermostat is innitely
variable from approx. 30°C up to boiling. The temperature
set will be controlled automatically. A separate thermome-
ter is not necessary.
For juice making the appliance is equipped with a special
setting which ensures permanent heating. When the
cooking process has been completed or needs to be inter-
rupted, reset both switches to 0 and pull the plug.
Hints on cooking
Boiling point of water varies according to the local altitude
and atmospheric pressure.
If the thermostat is set too high, this results in continuous
heating and consequently strong development of steam,
loss of water in the appliance and furthermore wasting of
energy.
To nd the correct setting for boiling on your appliance,
simply take the following steps:
1. Turn the temperature selector clockwise all the way to
the right to cooking setting.
2. Wait for the water to boil.
3. Slowly turn the temperature selector counter-clockwise
to the left until the thermostat goes off. This can be re-
cognized by a lower boiling noise and by decreasing
steam development. At this thermostat setting the hea
ting element will be switched on and off automatically.
Juice making
The Auto-Preserving Cooker is excellently qualied for
juice making by using the Juice Extraction Top
(important: diameter of the tting ring 35 cm).
For this end ll the Auto-Preserving Cooker with at least
6 litres of water and place the Juice Extraction Top on the
Auto-Preserving Cooker.
Then turn the temperature selector all the way to the right
and turn the timer to the left on ,Dauerbetrieb’ (continuous
operation). Important: Make sure to add water with each
new juice making operation.
Timer
The Auto-Preserving-Cooker is additionally equipped with
an electrical synchronized timer which makes it possible for
you to automatically complete cooking time. This timer has
two settings:
1. Permanent operation
(turn switch to the left counter-clockwise)
2. Automatic operation, time can be set innitely from 20
to 120 minutes (turn switch clockwise to the right)
At permanent operation setting the timer does not stop
automatically. This setting is used for juice making or for
keeping food or drinks warm for more than two hours.
For fully automatic preservation please set the temperature
selector to the respective temperature as shown in the pre-
serving index. Then set the timer to the requested preserving
time. Now the automatic preserving process begins, the pilot
lamp is on. Not before the preset temperature is reached, the
timer will start automatically and count down the preset time.
At the end of the preserving time the pilot lamp goes off.
