SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION
When using the battery charger, the following
basic safety precautions should be observed for
protection against electric shock, danger of injury
and burns.
Please read and observe these instructions before using
the device.
nBefore using the device check that the mains cable
and mains plug are not damaged.
nThe device must not be damp, neither should it be
used in a damp environment.
nDo not use the device if it has suffered any heavy
shock or jolting, or is damaged in any other way.
nDue to the heat generated during charging,
the battery charger should not be operated on a
combustible surface/in an inflammable environment.
nDo not cover the ventilating slits
nNever disassemble the device yourself. Danger of
an electric shock or fire could be caused by improper
reassembly.
nPull the plug of the battery charger out of the socket
when it is not in use or when cleaning it.
nOnly use extension cable that is approved and
technically in perfect condition.
nDuring operation provide sufficient ventilation.
Malfunction during charging can be caused by storing
and operating in places where the temperature
exceeds +40°C; this should be avoided. Battery
charging in closed cupboards, near heat sources
(radiators, bright sunshine) etc. causes heat to
accumulate and can damage the device.
nIf the battery is not going to be used for a longer
period, pull the battery off the battery charger and pull
out the mains plug.
nProtect battery contact to avoid a short circuit caused
by metallic object that can cause a fire or explosion!
nDo not rivet or screw any name-plates or signs onto
the device. The protective insulation can thereby
be rendered ineffective. Adhesive labels are
recommended.
nOnly charge original recommended batteries.
nIf the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an
Authorised Service Center in order to avoid a hazard.

of the LEDs are lit, remove the battery pack
from the charger to avoid damaging the product.
DO NOT insert another battery. Return the
charger and battery to your nearest service
center for service or replacement.

BATTERY PROTECTION FEATURES
Ryobi One+ 18 V lithium-ion batteries are designed with
features that protect the lithium-ion cells and maximize
battery life.
If the tool stops during use, release the trigger to reset
and resume operation. If the tool still does not work, the
battery needs to be recharged.
BATTERY GAUGE (Fig. 2)
To display the amount of charge left in the battery, press
and hold the battery gauge button.
nIf the charge indicator light glows green, the battery
pack is fully charged.
nIf it glows yellow, it has a usable charge remaining but
will soon require recharging.
nIf it glows red, the battery requires recharging as
indicated by the battery gauge symbols on top of the
battery.
Note: The LED charge indicator light will not work if
the battery protection feature has caused the battery
pack to stop powering the tool. When the battery pack
resets itself, the LED will again function.
LED FUNCTIONS OF CHARGER (Fig. 3-4)
CHARGER LED WILL BE ON TO INDICATE STATUS
OF CHARGER AND BATTERY PACK:
nRed LED on, Green LED off = Power to charger is on.
nRed LED flashing, Green LED off = Battery is being
tested.
nRed LED flashing, Green LED flashing = Battery is
defective.
nRed LED on, Green LED flashing = Battery is
charging.
nRed LED off, Green LED on = Battery is fully
charged.
CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK
Use only these Ryobi One+ 18 V battery packs with
this charger.
Battery packs for this tool are shipped in a low charge
condition to prevent possible problems. Therefore,
you should charge them until the green LED on the front
of the charger comes on.
Note: The charger will also charge Ryobi One+ 18 V
Ni-Cd battery packs.

normal circumstances, return both the battery pack and
charger to your nearest Authorized Service Center for
electrical check.
nCharge the battery pack only with the charger
provided.

OPERATION
nPress down on the battery pack to be sure contacts
on the battery pack engage properly with contacts in
the charger.
Note: After charging is complete, the green LED will
remain on until the battery pack is removed from the
charger or charger is disconnected from the power supply.
nThe battery pack will become slightly warm to the
touch while charging. This is normal and does not
indicate a problem.
nDo not place the charger and battery pack in an area
of extreme heat or cold. They will work best at normal
room temperature.
Note: The charger and battery pack should be placed
in a location where the temperature is more than
10°C but less than 38°C.
nWhen batteries become fully charged, unplug the
charger from the power supply and remove the
battery pack.
nTo remove the battery pack from the charger, depress
the latches on each side of the battery pack.
CHARGING A HOT BATTERY PACK
When using a tool continuously, the batteries in the
battery pack will become hot. You should let a hot battery
pack cool down for approximately 30 minutes before
attempting to recharge.
Note: This situation only occurs when continuous use
of a tool causes the batteries to become hot. It does not
occur under normal circumstances. Refer to "CHARGING
A COOL BATTERY PACK" for normal recharging of
batteries. If the charger does not charge your battery
pack under normal circumstances, return both the battery
pack and charger to your nearest Authorized Service
Center for electrical check.
