STAIRFRIEND CHAIRLIFT
Thank your for purchasing a Savaria Stairfriend chairlift. We are sure
your Stairfriend, batteries operated chairlift, will enhance your mobility.
Enjoy it. SPECIFICATIONS

landings) Note: When not in use, the chairlift must
be at a charging station.

OPERATING PROCEDURES
1-Position yourself in the seat and fasten the seat belt. Raise and hold the
seat swivel handle, then rotate the seat so that your back is against the
stairway wall. Release the seat swivel handle to secure the seat in that
position.
A SAFETY SWITCH PREVENTS THE LIFT FROM OPERATING UNLESS
THE SEAT IS LATCHED IN RIDING POSITION (YOUR BACK AGAINST
THE STAIRWAY WALL).
Position both feet securely on the footrest and place your arms
on the armrest cushions.
2-The UP/DOWN rocker switch is located below the front end of the right
armrest. Depressing and holding one end of the rocker control switch will
cause the carriage to move in that direction. The carriage stops
automatically at the upper or lower end of the rail or if the switch is released.
3-Two (2) remote control units enable you to “call” or “send” the carriage from
either end of the rail.
4-Your Stairfriend batteries need 45 minutes to recharge after each minute of
use.
SAFEGUARDS:
Be sure stairs are clear of objects before operating lift.
Fasten your seatbelt before operating lift.
Seat must be locked in “riding” position for UP/DOWN travel.
SAFETY FEATURES:
Safety switches installed on the Stairfriend chairlift stop the carriage when it
reaches the top or bottom of the stairway.
The footrest incorporates obstruction sensors which will stop the carriage if an
obstacle is encountered on the stairs. If this should occur, press the opposite side
of the “UP/DOWN” control switch to run the carriage in the opposite direction.
Clear the obstacle from the stairway and proceed as usual.
Your Stairfriend chairlift will not run if the position of the seat is different than the
normal riding position. (90° degrees)

SEATING FEATURES:
The seat assembly of the Stairfriend chairlift is designed to swivel and lock in
five (5) positions.
Lifting the seat swivel handle allows you to swivel the seat to a convenient position
for transferring into or out of the seat.
The seat and the footrest can easily be folded up to allow more space on the
stairway.
Your Stairfriend chairlift is equipped with flip-up armrest (to allow easier transfer
from wheelchair or scooter). To lower an armrest, lift the armrest and flip it
backwards.
When seated, lift the armrest back to its original position, push it down and ensure it
is locked.
MAINTENANCE
Every 3 months
These verifications can be made by the owner or a qualified technician :
ØLubrication of the rack (apply a small coat of white grease)
ØVerification of safety switches
-Swivel seat switche
-Footrest sensor switches
The testing procedure is to verify that the chairlift does not run when those
components are not in operating position.
Every 6 months
These verifications must be made by a qualified technician :
ØTop and bottom final limit switches;
ØPinion condition, set screws and keyway;
ØCharging station in working order.
As required
ØLubrication of rollers (white grease)
The maintenance is not covered by warranty

TROUBLE SHOOTING
IF YOUR STAIRFRIEND CHAIRLIFT WILL NOT OPERATE
Check swivel seat. Is seat locked in riding position?
Check footrest. Is there an obstruction on the stairway?
Make a visual check. Do you notice anything about your chairlift that
is different or out of place?
If the Stairfriend chairlift does not operate after completing the above check-list,
contact your area dealer to perform all required services, repairs and maintenance.

30 MONTH LIMITED WARRANTY
SERVICES INDUSTRIELS SAVARIA INC. warrants to the original consumer
purchaser of this Savaria lift, that the company will repair or exchange, at its
option, any part of the lift that fails by reason of defective material or
workmanship as follows:
ØRepair or replace parts for a period of 30 months from date of lift purchase.
This warranty does not cover labour charges incurred in the removal, repair or
replacement of parts.
To obtain warranty service, you must promptly notify the Savaria dealer from whom
the lift was purchased, within the warranty period.
This Warranty does not cover:
Batteries and malfunction or damage to lift parts caused by accident, misuse,
abuse or lack of proper maintenance, neglect, improper adjustment, modification,
alteration, the structural condition of your building, overloading, failure to follow the
lift operating instructions, or acts of God (i.e. weather, lightning, flood, etc.).
This warranty is void if:
ØLift has been installed or maintained by someone other than an authorized
Savaria dealer.
ØLift has been modified or altered in any respect from its original design without
written authorization by Services Industriels Savaria Inc.
ØThe user does not join a preventive maintenance program offered by an
authorized Savaria dealer and does not have the lift inspected at least once
every 6 months or more frequent as use or environment dictates.
