SBS-2500 HYDROMETER - QUICK START INSTRUCTIONS
Turn On Unit
Press and hold the esc key until display appears
Set time and date –(press ok and esc buttons simultaneously, enter password, scroll down to
“set time and date” press ok, esc )
Testing Your Batteries
Place sample tube in sample to be tested
Squeeze trigger button slowly to fill measuring cell
Press the ok/meas. –holds result… wait for beeping to stop and then result is stored.
Note: if you need to resample, press escape, empty and retest.
Press the ok/meas. –results are saved
Press drain button down slowly to empty measuring cell
Transferring the Results
Install SBS-2500 software onto your computer (software will include simple instructions)
Open SBS-2500 software on computer
Press and hold arrow till display reads- memory out –execute? (ALL)
Align IR window link on hydrometer w/IR computer link –at a maximum distance of
approximately 6 inches
Press ok/meas. and results are transferred
Cleaning Instructions
Place sample tube in water, draw water into measuring cell to clean
Clean measuring cell several times w/water as needed
Before putting unit in case –clean and wipe down outside of hydrometer free from any
standing liquids w/soft cloth

Preventative Maintenance Tips
Ensure the following environmental conditions are met:
• No strong vibrations
• Not in direct sunlight
• No high humidity present
• No corrosive gases present
• Temperature between 20°F and 90°F
• Nostrongelectricalormagneticelds
SBS-2500 Spare Parts
Tube/Washer (P/N: SBS-2500TUBE/WASH)
Spare Parts Kit: O-ring, sample pump, sample tube/
washer) - Recommended every 3 to 6 months
(P/N: SBS-2500-SPR-PRT-KIT)
Do’s
• Do open the sample pump chamber (using a coin)
WEEKLY to check for leakage or any signs of liquid getting
past the plunger
• Do make sure measuring cell is clean before each
measurement
• Do hold the end of the sample tube over waste container
after use
• Do clean after each usage with suitable cleaning liquid
• Do clean the dirty measuring cell and rinse the inside of
the cell with cleaning liquid; repeat cleaning if necessary
• Do replace the spare parts kit and sample pump every 3 to
6 months, or as needed
• Do calibrate once per year

• Do not drop the SBS-2500 hydrometer
• Do not work in an explosion / hazardous environment
• Do not press on measuring cell window
• Do not clean the measuring cell with concentrated NaOH
(caustic soda) or HF (hydrogen fluoride)
• Do not submerge the housing in liquid
• Do not leave a sample in the cell for extended times
