Door Handing
IMPORTANT! Check lock handing
before installation.
If necessary to change handing:
1. Pull out the latch and rotate 180°.
2. Handing screw must be installed
on the interior side of the chassis.
If necessary, move the screw to the
opposite side.

1 Install lock chassis.

2 Install springs and spindles.

3 Prepare outside lever
assembly for installation.
3a Install outside spring cage or
spacer.
LThe spring cage arrow
must point in direction
of lever down rotation.
OR
Use outside spacer with: L0170, L0172,
L9080, L9082, L9175, L9176, L9460 x
XL11-635, L9460 x XL11-886, L9462 x
XL11-886, L9464 x XL11-886, L9480,
L9485, L9485 x XL11-557, L9486.
3b Install outside mounting posts.
LV functions
Fully tighten mounting
posts on screws.
4 Install outside lever.

install coin turn, emergency
button or indicator.

6 Install inside spring cage and
mounting plate or spacer.

7 Install inside rose and lever.
7a Install rose over mounting
plate assembly.

7b Thread bushing onto
mounting plate.

8 Tighten bushing with spanner
wrench (included).
9 Install thumb turn, if
applicable.

Thumb turn

9b Rotate thumb turn to lock the
door and extend the deadbolt.
9c Install thumb turn with two
screws.

10 Install outside and inside cylinder(s), if applicable.

applications and some door thicknesses.

Use key inserted halfway to rotate
cylinder clockwise.

11 Tighten screws.
Tighten two mounting screws. Tighten
cylinder mounting screw if necessary.

Troubleshooting
Problem Cause Solution
Outside lever allows
immediate egress and
inside lever locks and
unlocks (opposite of
expected function).
Handing screw may not
be installed correctly.
Check the handing screw
on the mortise chassis.
The screw should be
installed on the interior
side of the chassis.
See page 2 for
information.
Lever droops.
Lever will pull up but not
push down.
Lever will push down but
will not return to original
position.
Spring cage may not be
installed correctly.
Check the spring cage
orientation. The spring
cage arrow must point in
direction of lever down
rotation.
See steps 3 and 6 for
information.
