DVR Configuration Upload Guide

For Trooper TL DVRs with firmware versions before 1.5.0 and Explorer DX12 and MX4 DVRs.
Use this guide to save the existing DVR network settings when uploading a new DVR configuration.
Configuration files can be uploaded at the DVR with a USB memory device or via vMax Web or vMax Commander.
Manual Configuration Upload to DVR
This method requires physical access to the DVR and an LCD Monitor and trackball USB mouse.
1 With the DVR on, connect the LCD monitor and USB mouse.
2 Insert the USB device with the Configuration file to the DVR USB socket.
3 In the DVR configuration menus, click System, then click Program Update.
4 In the Program Update menu, from the Load Configuration field, select the configuration file to load.
5 In the Configuration Warning window, click Yes .
CAUTION: Risk of Network Settings Loss
Use this guide to retain the current DVR network settings when uploading a new configuration.
When uploading via USB, if installers do not view and confirm the Network Settings menu after completing the
configuration upload and before restarting the DVR, the original settings will be lost.
Important: The Load Configuration menu only displays the ten most recent configuration files on the USB drive. Installers need to
organize their configuration files appropriately.

6 In the Program Update menu, click Back to exit and save the menu configuration. Also in the System menu click Back to exit and save
the menu configuration.
7 In the Main Configuration Menu, click Network
8 In the Network settings menu, do one of the following:
• If the network settings are correct, click Back to exit and save the menu configuration.
OR
• If the Network settings need to be reconfigured, get the proper settings from the network system administrator and make the
changes and click Back to save the menu settings and exit.
9 Turn off the power to the DVR.
When the DVR is next powered on, any changes made will be applied to the DVR.

Configuration Upload using vMax Web
This option requires a laptop or PC with wireless network access to the DVR.
1 On a laptop or PC, copy the cnfg.seon DVR configuration file.
2 Power up the DVR using the vehicle ignition.
3 Open Internet Explorer (32 bit version only) and, from the Seon DVR list, click the link for the bus DVR configuration you want to
update.
The Login Screen appears.
4 At the login prompt, enter the following credentials to access the internet browser user interface. The user name is case sensitive.
Default User name: Admin. Default Password: 11111111.
5 Click OK or press Enter on the keyboard to display the vMax Web interface live view screen.
CAUTION: Risk of Network Settings Loss
When uploading to TL series before firmware version 1.5.0, or DX12 or MX4 DVRs via vMax Web, if installers do not
copy the network settings and re-enter them before powering down the DVR after completing the configuration upload,
the original settings will be lost. Use this guide to avoid unintentionally losing the DVR network settings when uploading
a new configuration.
CAUTION: DVR Password Security
For security purposes, Seon recommends that the default user name and password should be changed.
Seon is not responsible if the password is lost or forgotten.

6 Select the Configuration Tab and click the Network icon.
7 On the Network tab, copy the network settings you have currently on the DVR for re-entry after you update the configuration.
8 On the Configuration tab, click the System icon.
9 In the Program Update Settings area, below the Load Configuration from File field select Browse to navigate to the cnfg.seon file.
10 In the Windows File folder select the file and click Open.
The cnfg.seon file appears in the location field.
11 Beside the Load Configuration from File field, click Load.
A screen appears asking if you wish to erase current config settings.
12 In the Message from Webpage , click Yes to proceed or No to return to the previous menu.
Clicking Yes starts the configuration upload.
If necessary, agree to Windows Run Add-On requests.

13 When the progress bar shows the update is 100% complete, click OK.
14 On the vMax Web Configuration Network tab, manually re-enter the network settings you copied before you updated the configuration.
15 Click Save.
16 Close vMax Web.

Configuration Upload using vMax Commander
This option requires a laptop or PC with vMax Commander installed and wireless network access to the DVR.
1 On a laptop or PC, copy the cnfg.seon DVR configuration file.
2 Power up the DVR using the vehicle ignition.
3 Login to vMax Commander and locate the vehicle in the Explorer view.
4 In the DVR Setup window, select a DVR that is live and on the system and right click and select Edit.
5 In the DVR Setup Description list, click Configuration.
6 The first time you edit the DVR configuration with vMax Commander, the following Information dialog appears. Click OK.
CAUTION: Risk of Network Settings Loss
When uploading to certain DVRs (DX12, MX4 and TL series) via vMax Commander, if installers do not copy the
network settings and re-enter them before powering down the DVR after completing the configuration upload, the
original settings will be lost. Use this guide to avoid unintentionally losing the DVR network settings when uploading a
new configuration.

7 In the DVR Configuration window that appears, click the Download configuration from DVR by network icon.
8 In the confirmation dialog, Click Yes.
The downloaded DVR configuration is now visible in the Configuration Window tabs and fields.
9 Click Network and, on the Network tab, copy the network settings you have currently on the DVR for re-entry after you update the
configuration.

10 Click System and, in the System tab Program Update Settings area, click the file search icon below the Load Configuration from File
field.
11 Navigate to the new ****.seon configuration update file you want to upload to the DVR.
12 Click Open. The file location appears in the
Load Configuration from File field .
13 Beside the
Load Configuration from File field, c lick Load.
14 Click Network and, on the Network tab, re-enter the network settings you copied in step 9.
15 Click Save.
16 In the confirmation dialog, click Yes to upload the new configuration with the re-entered network settings to the DVR.
