Drill pocket holes for 1-1/4” pocket hole screws as indicated by the arrows.

Attach the bottom panel to the lower
rails. Make sure you have access
to both pocket holes on the rails to
connect the legs in the next step.
Use wood glue at every wood joint
in this project.
This bench will be built upside
down. And this step may require
a helping hand. Attach the legs
to the lower shelf with pocket
hole screws through the rails.
Next, add the upper rails. Make
sure to leave the same reveal on
the legs as the lower shelf has. It
should be 1/4” if using the same
legs that we used. Also, make
sure the pocket holes are facing
the correct direction to attach the
seat later.

Upholster the plywood that will be
used as the seat. You can also
just plank the top if you do not
want to upholster anything.
Before you attach the seat
sand and finish the bench
frame as you wish. Attach the
seat with 1-1/4” pocket hole
screws only. If you decide to
