Product description
1Product description
The retaining device for the V 4000 Press Brake sensor (SICK mounting kit 2) consists of
a vertical adjusting arm, an adapter plate with groove for accommodating the sliding nut
(SICK mounting kit 1) and a horizontal adjusting arm that is mounted to the press
crosshead. The retaining device has a rapid adjustment device for the vertical axis and an
adjustment lever in the direction of the press crosshead.
Latching marks can be applied at the vertical adjusting arm in order to track the
V 4000 Press Brake sensor rapidly in case of frequent tool changes.
1.1 Scope of delivery
The SICK mounting kit 2 is supplied in two packages. One package contains all the
components required to mount the retaining device on one side of the press crosshead.
Before carrying out mounting ensure that all the components are included in the delivery.
(For the scope of delivery see Tab. 1).

2.1 Required tools and aids
$Electric drill and drill bit (metal 6.3 mm)
$Open-end wrenches (sizes 14 and 19)
$Hexagon socket screw keys (sizes 4, 6, 10)
$Side cutting pliers
$Thread cutter (M12 or M8 for mounting without horizontal adjusting arm)
2.2 Mounting alternatives
Depending on the nature of the press there are two mounting alternatives.
Mounting on the rear of the press crosshead
The system is mounted to the rear of the press crosshead by means of two adjusting
arms. If this alternative is used, approx. 0.5 m clearance is required at both sides of the
press.

Mounting on the side of the press crosshead
If the press crosshead has sufficient depth, mounting on the side of the press crosshead
with one adjusting arm each is possible. This alternative requires little clearance in the
width.

2.3 Mounting on the rear of the press crosshead
2.3.1 Premounting vertical adjusting arms on the left/right
The SICK mounting kit 2 is supplied in two packages. One package contains all the
components required to mount the retaining device onto one side of the press crosshead.
The vertical adjusting arm is premounted for the left-hand mounting side. For mounting on
the right-hand side the adjusting arm has to be modified.
Position the adjusting arm (1) so that the scale (2) faces to the front and the cable outlet
opening (7) faces to the rear.
For the right-hand mounting side remove the adapter plate, turn it by 180 and mount it
so that the groove of the adapter plate shows to the right (5, after modification).
For the right-hand mounting side remove the clamping rail and slide it into the opposite
profile groove and mount it (4, after modification).
Mount the adapter plate to the adjusting arm using the screws M8 x 20 (3).
Tighten the screws hand-tight.
Remove the warning sign (6) at both adapter plates.
Do not tighten the screws until after cabling has been completed.

2.3.2 Premounting horizontal adjusting arms on the left/right
Remove the screws (6).
Place the cross adapter (4) on the adjusting arm (1) so that the hole for the clamping
lever (5) shows to the left at the left-hand adjusting arm and to the right at the right-hand
adjusting arm.
Mount the cross adapter with spring washers and screws in the sliding nuts (2).
Tighten the screws hand-tight so that the cross adapter can still be moved later.
Put the cover (3) on the adjusting arm.
2.3.3 Mounting horizontal adjusting arms at press crossheads
Drilling holes in press crossheads
According to the dimensional drawing, drill holes (10.2 mm in diameter and at least
25 mm in depth) from behind into the press crosshead (1).
Cut a thread M12, min. 20 mm deep.
Blow out the thread hole clean.

Mounting horizontal adjusting arms on the press crosshead on the left/right
Slide the shim (1) sideways into the groove.
Push the screws M12 x 60 (3) with washers for M12 (2) through the shim into the holes.
Mount the adjusting arms from the rear to the press crosshead.
Tighten the screws.
2.3.4 Mounting vertical adjusting arms in the cross adapter
Mounting the vertical adjusting arm on the left
Mount the clamping lever (3) to the cross adapter (1).
Screw the stop bolt (5) with a spacer ring (4) into the upper thread of the cross adapter
and tighten with an open-end wrench size 14.
Pull the stop bolt and slide the vertical adjusting arm from below into the cross adapter.
The groove of the adapter plate (2) points away from the press crosshead.

Tighten the clamping lever.
Screw the screw for the upper back-stop M8 x 15 (6) into the vertical adjusting arm.
Mounting the vertical adjusting arm on the right
Carry out mounting as for the left.
2.3.5 Applying latching marks
.
Latching marks can be applied at the vertical adjusting arm in order to track the
V 4000 Press Brake sensor rapidly in case of frequent tool changes. One grid hole (1)
exists.
Drill further holes (Ø 6.3 mm) in accordance with the tool lengths that are often used.
