Introduction 2
2.1 Purpose of this documentation
These instructions contain all information required to commission and use the device. Read the
instructions carefully prior to installation and commissioning. In order to use the device
correctly, 󹪝rst review its principle of operation.
The instructions are aimed at persons mechanically installing the device, connecting it
electronically, con󹪝guring the parameters and commissioning it, as well as service and
maintenance engineers.
2.2 Document history
The most important changes in the documentation when compared with the respective
previous edition are given in the following table.

2.3 Designated use
Use the device in accordance with the information on the nameplate and in the Technical data
(Page 29).
2.4 Checking the scope of delivery
1. Check the packaging and the delivered articles for visible damage.
2. Report any claims for damages immediately to the shipping company.

4. Check the consignment by comparing your order with the shipping documents for

2.8 Transportation and storage
To guarantee su󹪟cient protection during transport and storage, observe the following:
• Keep the original packaging for subsequent transportation.
• Devices/replacement parts should be returned in their original packaging.
• If the original packaging is no longer available, ensure that all shipments are properly
packaged to provide su󹪟cient protection during transport. Siemens cannot assume liability
for any costs associated with transportation damages.

Insu󹪟cient protection during storage
The packaging only provides limited protection against moisture and in󹪝ltration.
• Provide additional packaging as necessary.
Special conditions for storage and transportation of the device are listed in Technical data

3.1 General safety instructions
Strong high-frequency radiation
NOTICE
Observe immunity to RF radiation
The device has an increased immunity to RF radiation according to the speci󹪝cations on
electromagnetic compatibility in the technical speci󹪝cations.
Radiation exposure in excess of the speci󹪝ed immunity limits can impair device functions,
result in malfunctions and therefore injuries or damages.
Read the information on immunity to RF radiation in the technical speci󹪝cations.
ESD Guideline
Electrostatic sensitive devices can be labeled with an appropriate symbol.
NOTICE
Electrostatic sensitive devices (ESD)
When you touch electrostatic sensitive components, you can destroy them through voltages
that are far below the human perception threshold.
If you work with components that can be destroyed by electrostatic discharge, observe the ESD
Guideline.
3.2 Prerequisites for safe use
This device left the factory in good working condition. In order to maintain this status and to
ensure safe operation of the device, observe these instructions and all the speci󹪝cations relevant
to safety.
Observe the information and symbols on the device. Do not remove any information or symbols
from the device. Always keep the information and symbols in a completely legible state.

• The device is disconnected from the power supply.

1. Loosen the cover.
Carefully press the blade of a 󹪞at screwdriver into the marked cutouts and carefully pull on
the bottom shield cover.
2. Remove the cover.
3. Insert the three plastic mounting clips into the marked drilled holes on the main circuit board.
4. Insert the supplied metal mounting clip into the marked drilled hole on the main circuit board.

5. Notice! Do not bend contact pins.
Insert the contact pins of the SIMATIC IOT2000 SG-Shield so that they 󹪝t perfectly into the
socket contacts of the main circuit board.
6. Fasten the cover.
Snap in the left side of the cover into place and press on the right side of the cover until it
latches into place on the housing.

5.1 Safety notices for connecting
WARNING
Risk of 󹪝re and electric shock
The on/o󹪜 switch does not isolate the device from the power supply. Risk of electric shock if the
device is opened incorrectly or defective. There is also a risk of 󹪝re if the device or connecting
lines are damaged. Death or serious bodily injury can result.
You should therefore protect the device as follows:
• Always pull out the power plug when you are not using the device or if the device is
defective. The power plug must be freely accessible.
• Use a central power isolating switch for cabinet installation.
WARNING
Risk of lightning strikes
A lightning 󹪞ash may enter the mains cables and data transmission cables and jump to a person.
Death, serious injury and burns can be caused by lightning.
Take the following precautions:
• Disconnect the device from the power supply in good time when a thunderstorm is
approaching.
• Do not touch mains cables and data transmission cables during a thunderstorm.
• Keep a su󹪟cient distance from electric cables, distributors, systems, etc.

1. Connect the SIMATIC IOT2000 SG-Shield ① to the four load cells ②.
For 4-wire load cells, do not connect SENSE - and SENSE+.
The load cells are connected in parallel. There is no individual channel diagnostics.
2. Select in the software whether you have connected 4-wire or 6-wire load cells. See
section Setting the commissioning parameters (Page 19).

6.1 Setting up the PC for the connection to the SIMATIC IOT2050 device
Before setting up your PC
The devices are connected and supplied. Refer to section: Connecting (Page 15).
Procedure
1. Navigate to the settings of the used LAN network adapter.
In Windows 10: Windows "Settings > Network and Internet > Change adapter settings"
2. Right-click the used LAN network adapter and select "Properties" in the shortcut menu.
3. Select "Internet protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)".
4. Click the "Properties" button.

5. Change the IP address.
The address must not match the address of the device.
The default IP address of the device is 192.168.200.1. Your computer must be in the same
network to communicate with the device. Your computer can have the IP address
192.168.200.2, for example.
The subnet mask is entered automatically. (255.255.255.0)
6. Click "OK".
6.2 Parameterizing SIMATIC IOT2050
Procedure
1. Download the example image (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/
109780231) (operating system with pre-installed Node-Red software).
2. Write the example image to a microSD card and insert the card into the SIMATIC IOT2050.
3. Install an operating system including Node-Red software on the SIMATIC IOT2050.
Connect your PC to the SIMATIC IOT2050, Ethernet connection X1LAN P2.
4. Set up your PC.

5. Start the Node-Red software by typing the IP address of the SIMATIC IOT2050 and the port
1880 into the Google Chrome browser. Example: http://192.168.200.1:1880

6. Install the following Node-Red libraries:

– node-red-contrib-modbus
– node-red-contrib-bit
– @mindconnect/node-red-contrib-mindconnect

7. Download the Node-Red example program for SIMATIC IOT2000 SG-Shield (https://

8. Import the Node-Red example program for SIMATIC IOT2000 SG-Shield.
9. Click "Deploy".
6.3 Calibrate scale with Node-Red
Introduction
In the Node-Red example program for SIMATIC IOT2000 SG-Shield (https://
support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/de/ps/17781/dl), the characteristic is determined with
two calibration points.

You have installed the Node-Red example program for SIMATIC IOT200 SG-Shield.
You have opened the Node-Red dashboard.
Procedure
Calibration with calibration weights
1. Parameterize the calibration weights.
2. Start the "Set calibration point 0" command with the scale empty.
3. Load the scale with the speci󹪝ed calibration weight.
4. Start the "Set calibration point 1" command.
Automatic calibration
1. Specify the load cell parameters (characteristic value and rated load).
2. Ensure that the scale is empty.
3. Start the "Run automatic calibration" command.
