Purpose of the document
These operating instructions contain information based on the requirements defined by DIN
EN 62079 for mechanical engineering documentation. This information relates to the place of
use, transport, storage, mounting, use and maintenance.
These operating instructions are intended for:

Required knowledge
General knowledge of automation technology and process communication is needed to
understand the operating instructions. Knowledge of personal computers and the Microsoft
operating systems is required to understand this manual.

Overview

Add 7 product line
The Add 7 product line offers add-on products for the cost-effective implementation of
demanding or specific requirements that are derived from process control and automation
technology.
The Front End Module "AddFEM SoE" of the Add 7 product family is tailored to the special
applications in the field of power plant and process control technology at which the high-
precision time-based acquisition of signal changes of the inputs is required. These include,
for example, the archiving of operating states of a power plant for incident analysis or for
general logging.
A diverse range of technical combinations is possible with AddFEM SoE. The Front End
Module can be used together with SIMATIC S7 systems as well as with the SPPA-T3000
system. The AddFEM SoE is controlled by the higher-level automation processor, for
example SPPA-T3000, via the PROFIBUS DP bus system.
These products are based on extensive experience in process control and with the current
system generation 7 of the Siemens automation range "Totally Integrated Automation".
PROFIBUS DP connection
The AddFEM SoE has two PROFIBUS DP interfaces DP A and DP B that operate in parallel.
This allows redundant communications media to be connected. In principle, the process
input information is passed in parallel through both PROFIBUS DP interfaces. However,
events are only reported via the active PROFIBUS DP interface.
By contrast, only the process output information of the active PROFIBUS DP interface is
passed to the outputs. The process output information of the passive PROFIBUS DP
interface is analyzed for monitoring purposes.
The master-reserve status of the two PROFIBUS DP interfaces, i.e. which PROFIBUS DP
interface is active or passive with regard to the output information, can be specified through
the automation processor.
Time resolution
Digital signals are time-stamped with a real-time resolution of 1 millisecond.

Interfaces to inputs and outputs
The AddFEM SoE has the following inputs and outputs:
●31 digital inputs (DI) of the AddFEM SoE with time stamp
The digital inputs are:
–15 digital input channels 1 to 3 and 5 to 16 at the interface X6 as well as
–16 channels at the interface X7
These can be used as digital inputs 17 to 32 or alternatively/additionally as digital
outputs 1 to 16.
Usage as a digital input or output can be specified for each channel individually.
●The supplementary 8 analog inputs and 12 analog outputs can be used as with
AddFEM (Front End Module).

The process for setting the PROFIBUS DP address of the AddFEM SoE is the same as that
for the AddFEM and is described in the correspondingly named section in the

Configuration of the AddFEM SoE
The configuration of the front-end function SoE is performed via a configuration tool, for
example HW Config with GSD tool. The SoE function can be configured with the GSD files
"SiT580A3.GS?" or "SiT680A3.GS?". You can find additional information about the GSD files
in the "Readme.pdf" file of the current Manuals&Drivers CD AddFEM.
Parameter assignment of the FEF SoE takes place exclusively via DP-V1 services. The data
records for the parameter assignment are transferred with write jobs to the AddFEM SoE.
Per AddFEM SoE, you can optionally connect:
●Up to 31 binary SoE channels or
●High-speed IO channels
Enable the SoE channels individually. A defined sequence does not have to be observed.
The channel enable as an SoE input should be specified during startup, but can also be
modified online.
The configuration specifies not only the binary inputs that are to be monitored, but also which
edge of the signal (0 → 1 or 1 → 0) is to be reported as "incoming" or "outgoing" edge. The
configuration of the signal edge to be taken into consideration takes place channel-
selectively in accordance with the PROFIBUS standard.

GPS Time Server
A GPS Time Server can be made up of, for example, the following components of the
company hopf Elektronik GmbH:
●GPS satellite clock, for example type 6842
●Fiber-optic cable converter card, type 7247 for delay-free optical coupling of the
GPS satellite clock with an SoE repeater module
●LAN board, type 7270 for coupling of the GPS satellite clock to SIMATIC CPUs via LAN

Time and date
Time and date are provided with high precision by a GPS Time Server. The time and date
information is sent to the host systems in parallel and from there to the AddFEM SoE
modules.
The host systems are supplied with the date and time information via LAN.
Synchronization
After the system startup of the AddFEM SoE, the default value for the date and time is
set to 1/1/1984, 0:00:00.
As of FEF-03 software version 5, the default date is 1/1/2012. Synchronization to the current
date and time is carried out directly with the first valid synchronization telegram.
Display of the status of the synchronization
As of FEF-03 software version 5, the synchronization status can be read at the LED screen
to facilitate commissioning – see section
"Display functions of the error and status LEDs (Page 22)".
Synchronization protocol
DCF77-Clock
is used as the synchronization protocol.
The service interface X1 is used as the signal input at the AddFEM SoE for this function.
See the "AddFEM (Front-End Module)" operating instructions.
Transfer medium
Fiber-optic cables are consistently used as the transfer medium between the GPS Time
Server and AddFEM SoE.

Redundancy functions of the AddFEM SoE
With operating mode 1 in accordance with section "Operating modes (Page 15)", the
connection between the host and the AddFEM SoE is designed redundantly via two
PROFIBUS connections. As a rule, the PROFIBUS DP interfaces X3A and X3B are
equivalent.
Data is exchanged simultaneously between the AddFEM SoE and the AS 400 via both
PROFIBUS connections. Events are only reported via the active PROFIBUS to the AS 400.
As a rule, analog outputs of the AddFEM SoE can only take over one of the two output
records that arrive in parallel via the two PROFIBUS interfaces. The following are passed on
to the analog outputs and thus to the actuator:
●Either the output data that arrive via the PROFIBUS interface X3A
●Or the output data that arrive via the PROFIBUS interface X3B

4.1
Front-end function SoE
Configuring the AddFEM SoE
The AddFEM SoE (6DL3100-8AC03) can be connected either redundantly or non-
redundantly via PROFIBUS DP to a host system, for example SPPA-T3000. The signal
states of the measuring sensors are acquired by the AddFEM SoE and transported to the
host cyclically via PROFIBUS DP with regular data telegrams for open-loop and closed-loop
control functions.
The event acquisition, time stamping and administration of events are executed by the
AddFEM SoE in parallel to and without limitation of the input and output functions. The entire
range of this supplementary function is called front-end function "SoE".
Event acquisition
A signal change is detected by AddFEM SoE with precision of one millisecond. For this
purpose, an extremely precise internal clock time is kept on each AddFEM SoE. The events
acquired and stamped with the precise time are stored temporarily by the front-end function
SoE in ring buffers and subsequently called by the host system via special acyclic telegrams.
The events from all event sources that are sorted in the right order on the basis of the time
stamp can be used to analyze an incident subsequently, for example. The transport of the
events provided once with exact time stamp is not time-critical.
Note
The exact synchronization of all the participating "clocks" of the overall system by the
GPS Time Server is of fundamental importance for
subsequently sorting the events in the
right order.

Event buffer
If an event buffer is filled completely or the configured time "EVENT_BUF_
TRANS_INTERVALL" has expired, the PROFIBUS master is informed via an alarm that
messages are pending. The transfer of the messages to the PROFIBUS master is triggered
via the alarm mechanism in accordance with the following document.

Buffer overflow
A buffer overflow is unlikely in a typical application case because the buffer depth is
generously designed for 1800 events (messages). The buffer overflow is indicated by a
corresponding event. In the case of a buffer overflow, recording is stopped until buffer space
becomes free again through disposal on the part of the host.
Transfer of the messages to the PROFIBUS master
The transfer of the messages to the PROFIBUS master is based on the application of the
hardware interrupt mechanism. The PROFIBUS master is informed via a hardware interrupt
when messages are pending. These are finally transferred via request from the
PROFIBUS master.
Note
Messages sent or collected once from the host are completed for AddFEM SoE and are
removed from the internal buffer.
Time representation and event representation
The internal time representation of the AddFEM SoE as well as the transfer of the events to
the host takes place in accordance with "PROFIBUS (http://www.profibus.com/solr-
results/?q=PROFIBUS-Guideline+%22Time+Stamp%22+&id=7431&L=0)".
Reporting Exception_Events
Exception_Events are transferred as time stamped messages together with the signal
Trigger_Events in an event buffer block.
This means that you receive a complete recording of the following in chronological order:
●Signal Trigger_Events
●Exception_Events.
A complete Exception_Event always consists of the "incoming" and "outgoing" messages
that belong together.

Exception_Events
●START_THE_PROCESS
–The beginning of the start information of the signals that are to be recorded is signaled
with this Exception_Event and Subtype 1.
–This Exception_Event with Subtype 0 follows at the end of the last start information.
All the events with a time stamp between the beginning and the end of this
Execption_Event are not trigger events, but rather show the current state of the signals at
the moment of the process start. The AddFEM SoE forms this information after complete
DPV1 parameter assignment of the FEF SoE.
●CLOCK_DIFFERENCE
During the time stamp process, a time difference of more than 1 ms has occurred
between the synchronization and the internal clock. The complete information always
consists of two consecutive Exception_Event records.
–Subtype 1: The Time_Value is the time of the internal clock
–Subtype 0: The Time_Value is the synchronization time
The internal clock is tracked to the Time_Value of the Exception_Event with Subtype 0.
●BUFFER_OVERFLOW
When all the event buffers are filled, this Exception_Event is stored with Subtype 1 as the
last record in the event buffer block. As soon as an event buffer block is available again,
this event is entered with Subcode 0 at the first position in the free event buffer block.
There is no time stamp between these two events; all events are lost.
●SOE_SIGN_OF_LIVE
Monitoring of the FEF SoE with sign of life. The FEF SoE generates this Exception_Event
if no events were recorded within the sign-of-life interval.
–Subtype 1: The Time_Value is the time of the internal clock
–Subtype 0: The Time_Value is the synchronization time
