About this document
The procedure for following the TÜV/MCERTS certificate includes three main issues:
1. The hardware must not be altered from the original hardware delivered with the
certificate.
2. Maintenance checks must be carried out regularly.
3. Annual Surveillance Tests (AST) must be carried out by an accredited measurement
institute (e.g. according Bundesimmissionsschutz-Gesetz BImSchG §§ 26, 28).
This document covers the annual functional tests according to point 3 above.
For instructions on maintenance checks according to 2. above, please see separate
service instruction.
Introduction
For LDS 6 HCl/H2O analyzers a linearity check of the HCl concentration can be
performed using the RC 3009 verification kit. This kit contains one 2-meter hybrid
cable, one sensor board and detector and five black boxes to which the single mode
fibre and the detector can be connected. Four of the boxes contain glass cells filled
with a mixture of HCl and nitrogen. The fifth box is empty and thus has only a zero
path in the ambient air. The linearity check must be performed in an ambient air
temperature range of 5-40 °C, but is preferably performed at normal room
temperature. The verification kit must have the same temperature as the ambient air.

Preparations for Linearity Check
At the reference cell
Slide the sensor card into its holder on one of the reference cell modules. Insert the
detector module into the hole on the reference point box and twist 90° to lock.
Connect the multi-mode fibre and the power cable of the 2-meter hybrid cable to the
sensor card. Connect the single mode fibre to the E2000 connector of the launcher.
Set up at the one of the 5 RC 3009 verification cells.
At the central unit site
For the channel that is to be checked, replace the hybrid cable at the back of the
central unit with the other end of the 2-meter hybrid cable.
Protect the fibre ends from any dust or dirt. The performance of the analyzer may
decrease substantially if the fibre ends become contaminated.
Linearity Check
On the MMI, go to the Diagnostic Values Screen (function number 2) and check the
transmission of the specific channel. Adjust the potentiometer of the detector so that
the Current Transmission becomes approximately 200 units. If there is no
transmission at all, the cable connections should be checked.
Before altering any parameters, note the original settings so that you can
return to these later!
1. Go to the Pressure Correction screen (82). Set the mode to Manual.
Enter the Manual Value 1013 mbar.
2. Go to the Temperature Correction screen (83). Set the mode to Manual. Set the
Manual Value to 23 °C.
3. Go to the Path Length screen (85). Set the path length to 1 meter.
4. Go to the Span Calibration screen (21). Activate calibration mode. (Code 3: 3714)

The temperature dependence of HCl in a closed glass cell is not the same as the
temperature dependence of HCl in the duct. A correction factor that compensates for
this can be obtained from the temperature correction curve in the figure below.
Measure the room temperature and read the corresponding correction factor in the
graph. Read the measurement value on the LDS 6 and divide the value with the
correction factor.

Move the detector and the single mode connection to the next box. Read the value of
the cell and divide with the correction factor. Repeat this for all cells in the kit.
Check of other channels
Remove the multi-mode fibre of the channel you want to check and connect the
multi-mode fibre of the two-meter cable. Repeat the linearity check.

Return to original settings
When the calibration check of all channels is completed the settings of the LDS
6 must be returned to their original values and the fibre connections must be
put in their original positions!
Perform the following for all channels.
1. Enter original settings in the Pressure Correction screen (82).
2. Enter original settings in the Temperature Correction screen (83).
3. Enter original settings in the Path Length screen (85).
4. Deactivate the Calibration Mode in the Span Calibration screen (21).
5. Remove the 2-meter hybrid cable of the reference kit and connect the original
hybrid cable
Annual Functional test
In addition to the linearity check carried out at service intervals according to the
instruction above the following procedure is suggested for performance of the annual
functional test by an accredited measurement institute (e.g. according
Bundesimmissionsschutz-Gesetz BImSchG§§ 26, 28).
1. Visual check of the instrument including the sensor system
2. Check the diagnostic parameters (relative and absolute transmission value,
temperature, pressure, path length)
3. Check and if necessary clean the optical interfaces and purge gas pipes
4. Check the purge gas supply
5. Check the alignment of the sensor unit using the alignment kit
6. Check the parameterisation and functional capability of the pressure and
temperature compensation
7. Check the documentation (logbook entries, maintenance book)
8. Check that the requirement for cross interference (< 4 %) is fulfilled under
consideration that the concentration limit for methane is 15 mg/m3.
9. Recommended maintenance interval for checking the optical alignment and
fouling of windows is 2 weeks

Folgende 3 Punkte sind beim TÜV/MCERT-zugelassenen LDS6-Gerät zu
berücksichtigen:
1. Die mit dem Zertifikat gelieferte Hardware darf nicht verändert werden.
2. Wartungskontrollen müssen regelmäßig durchgeführt werden.
3. Jährlich müssen Funktionskontrollen (Annual Surveillance Test AST) von einem
akkreditierten Prüfinstitut (z.B. nach Bundeimmissionsschutz-Gesetz BImSchG
§§26, 28) durchgeführt werden.
Dieses Dokument behandelt die jährliche Funktionskontrolle entsprechend Punkt 3.
Für die Wartungskontrollen nach Punkt 2 verwenden Sie bitte die entsprechende
separate Serviceanweisung.
Einführung
An Chlorwasserstoff -/Wasseranalysatoren LDS 6 kann eine Linearitätskontrolle der
Chlorwasserstoffkonzentration mithilfe des Referenzkits RC 3009 durchgeführt
werden.
Dieses Kit umfasst ein 2 Meter langes Hybridkabel, eine Sensorplatine und einen
Detektor sowie fünf Bezugspunktboxen, an welche die Einmodenfaser und der
Detektor angeschlossen werden können. Vier Boxen enthalten Glaszellen, die mit
einem Gemisch aus Chlorwasserstoff und Stickstoff gefüllt sind. Die fünfte Box ist
leer und hat somit nur einen Nullpfad in der Umgebungsluft. Die Linearitätskontrolle
muss in einem Umgebungstemperaturbereich von 5 bis 40 °C durchgeführt werden,
aber vorzugsweise bedient man sich einer normalen Raumtemperatur. Das
Referenzkit muss dieselbe Temperatur wie die Umgebungsluft aufweisen.

Vorbereitungen auf die Linearitätskontrolle
An der Bezugszelle
Schieben Sie die Sensorkarte in ihren Halter auf eines der Bezugszellenmodule.
Stecken Sie das Detektormodul in das Loch in der Bezugspunktbox, und drehen Sie
es um 90°, um es zu verriegeln. Schließen Sie die Mehrmodenfaser und das
Stromkabel des 2 Meter langen Hybridkabels an die Sensorkarte an. Schließen Sie
die Einmodenfaser an den E2000-Anschluss des Launchers an.
Aufbau eines Referenzkits RC 3009.
An der Zentraleinheit
Ersetzen Sie für den Kanal, der kontrolliert werden soll, das Hybridkabel auf der
Rückseite der Zentraleinheit durch das andere Ende des 2-Meter Hybridkabels des
Linearitäts-Kits.
Schützen Sie die Faserenden vor Staub oder Schmutz. Die Leistung des Analysators
kann wesentlich nachlassen, wenn die Faserenden verschmutzt sind.
Linearitätskontrolle
Rufen Sie auf dem Bedienfeld den Bildschirm Diagnostic Values (Diagnosewerte,
Funktion Nummer 2) auf, und kontrollieren Sie die Transmission des spezifischen
Kanals. Stellen Sie das Potentiometer des Detektors so ein, dass die aktuelle
Transmission ungefähr 200 Einheiten beträgt. Wenn überhaupt keine Transmission
vorliegt, sollten die Kabelanschlüsse kontrolliert werden.
Notieren Sie alle ursprünglichen Einstellungen, sodass Sie später darauf
zurückkehren können!
1. Rufen Sie den Bildschirm Pressure Correction (Druckkorrektur, 82) auf. Wählen
Sie die Betriebsweise Manual (Manuell). Geben Sie den Manual Value
(manuellen Wert) 1013 mbar ein.
2. Rufen Sie den Bildschirm Temperature Correction (Temperaturkorrektur, 83) auf.
Wählen Sie die Betriebsweise Manual (Manuell). Stellen Sie den Manual Value
(manuellen Wert) auf 23 °C ein.
3. Rufen Sie den Bildschirm Path Length (Pfadlänge, 85) auf. Stellen Sie den Pfad
auf 1 Meter ein.
4. Rufen Sie den Bildschirm Calibration Correction (Kalibrierkorrektur, 21) auf.
Aktivieren Sie den Kalibrierbetrieb (Code 3: 3714).

Die Temperaturabhängigkeit von Chlorwasserstoff in einer geschlossenen Glaszelle
ist nicht dieselbe wie die Temperaturabhängigkeit von Chlorwasserstoff im Messpfad.
Ein Korrekturfaktor, der dies ausgleicht, kann der Temperaturkorrekturkurve auf der
folgenden Abbildung entnommen werden. Messen Sie die Raumtemperatur, und
lesen Sie den entsprechenden Korrekturfaktor aus der Grafik ab. Lesen Sie den
Messwert auf dem LDS 6 ab, und teilen Sie diesen Wert durch den Korrekturfaktor.
Der Ergebniswert ist der Wert des Bezugspunktes.
Temperaturkorrekturkurve
Bringen Sie den Detektor und den Einmodenanschluss an der nächsten Box an.
Lesen Sie den Wert der Zelle ab, und teilen Sie ihn durch den Korrekturfaktor.
Wiederholen Sie dies für alle Zellen in dem Kit.
Kontrolle der anderen Kanäle
Nehmen Sie die Multimodenfaser des Kanals ab, den Sie kontrollieren wollen, und
schließen Sie die Multimodenfaser des 2-Meter-Hybridkabels an. Wiederholen Sie
die Linearitätskontrolle.

Rückkehr auf die ursprünglichen Einstellungen
Wenn die Linearitätskontrolle aller Kanäle abgeschlossen ist, müssen die
ursprünglichen Werte wieder in das LDS 6 eingegeben, und die ursprünglichen
Faseranschlüsse müssen wiederhergestellt werden!
Gehen Sie für alle Kanäle folgendermaßen vor.
1. Geben Sie die ursprünglichen Werte in den Bildschirm Pressure Correction
(Druckkorrektur, 82) ein.
2. Geben Sie die ursprünglichen Werte in den Bildschirm Temperature Correction
(Temperaturkorrektur, 83) ein.
3. Geben Sie die ursprünglichen Werte in den Bildschirm Path Length (Pfadlänge, 85)
ein.
4. Deaktivieren Sie den Kalibrierbetrieb im Bildschirm Span Calibration
(Bereichskalibrierung, 21) ein.
5. Nehmen Sie das 2-Meter Hybridkabel des Linearitätskits ab, und schließen Sie das
ursprüngliche Hybridkabel an.
Funktionsprüfung
Zusätzlich zur oben beschriebenen Linearitätskontrolle wird bei der jährlichen
Funktionsprüfung durch ein zugelassenes Messinstitut (z.B. nach
Bundesimmissionsschutz-Gesetz BImSchG§§ 26, 28) in Ergänzung der üblichen
Prüfungen gemäß DIN EN 14181 [7] folgendes Vorgehen vorgeschlagen:
1. Sichtprüfung des Gerätes inklusive Sensorsystem
2. Kontrolle der Diagnoseparameter (Transmission Relativ- und Absolut-Wert,
Temperatur, Druck, Weglänge)
3. Kontrolle und ggf. Reinigung der optischen Grenzflächen und Spülgasrohre
4. Kontrolle der Spülgasversorgung
5. Kontrolle der Justierung der Sensoreinheit mittels Justiervorrichtung
6. Kontrolle der Parametrierung und der Funktionsfähigkeit der Druck- und
Temperaturkompensation
7. Kontrolle der Dokumentation (Logbuch-Einträge, Wartungsbuch)
8. Überprüfung, ob unter der Berücksichtigung der Einschränkung für die Komponente
Methan (max. 15 mg/m³) die Anforderungen für die Querempfindlichkeit < 4 %
eingehalten wird
