This document describes how to change a broken or worn locking lever for the "flying
wing".

•Clinometerwithfeatureto measure minutesofarc(e gwyler)

Approximately 4 hours / 1 person

Dismounting 2
1. Checkthat the swivelarmis in position 0°.
If not;
Switch the MAMMOMAT ON and turn the swivel arm to 0°.
2. SwitchtheMAMMOMATOFF.
3. Secure optimum stability ofthe stand.
4. Usingthe clinometer,measure the inclinationof the objecttableand note this
value(accuracy+1i).

5. Removethe shaftcoversfromswivelarm andtube.
6. Removethe compressionunit:
6.1.Remove cableguide(1/Fig.1).
6.2.Remove earth screw(2/Fig.1)and ground cables(3/Fig.1).
Before removing the compression unit it is essential to mark up
the position of the base beam of the compression unit. This is to
ensure proper alignment when remounting the compression unit.

6.3.Loosenand removescrewsandwashers 1and 2 thathold the compression
unitbasebeam (Fig.2).
6.4.Loosenscrew3 (Fig.2)by halftotiltthe compression unit slightlyforward.
6.5. Pull connector X872 out of printed circuit board D805.
6.6. Pull out connectors X873 and X874,which arelocated behind the
compressionunit.
6.7. Loosen and remove screw 3(Fig.2),and removethe compression unit.
7. Loosenbellowby removingplasticguideblocks inside the bellow.
8. Loosenthe screws forthering(1/Fig.3).
9. Loosen therotation stopscrew (2/Fig. 4).Then turn theobjecttable arm further
clockwisetomake the twoscrewsaccessible.

newscrews).

1. Coatthe outside ofthelockingpawl with generalpurposegrease.Attachthelever
assembly to the holder withthenew spring,the new lockingpin andthenew
lockingrings(Fig.5).
2. Checkthe surface of thelargering,on whichthepawl slidesduringrotationofthe
"flyingwing".Ifroughspotsare found,useafine abrasive cloth tosmoothenthe
surface.
3. Coatlightlywithgeneralgreasethecontactareabetween thelockingpawlandthe
largeringon which thepawlslidesduring rotationof the"flying wing".
Final procedures 2
1. Fastenthenew holderlooselywithnew screws.
2. Turnthe swivelarmto0°.
3. Fittherotationstop screw.
4. Fitthescrews for thering.Make surethattheobjecttable have thesame
inclinationas beforethering was removed.
5. Tightenthescrews for theholder.
6. Checkthe operation of theleverforboth "flyingwing"positions.
7. Fitthebellow.
8. Fitthecompressionunit.
9. Fitthecovers.
