1 Preface
1.1 Purpose of this Document
This operating instructions support you to operate the Binary Input Node SIPLUS
CMS4000 ION BINARYINPUT, named ION BI as peripheral device in the System
SIPLUS CMS4000.
1.2 Required Basic Knowledge
Basic knowledge of automation technology and equipment condition monitoring is nec-
essary.
These operating instructions contain a description of the components, which are valid at
the time of publishing the manual. We reserve the right, to enclose product information
with current information to new components and updated components.
1.3 Validity of this Document
This document is valid for the Interface Node ION BI.
1.4 Modification compared with the Previous Version
- Max. sampling frequency is 50 kHz
- Input current 10,2 mA at 24V DC

2 Product Overview
2.1 What is SIPLUS CMS?
SIPLUS CMS is an industrial-suited Condition Monitoring System for technical and tech-
nological services in industrial plants. SIPLUS CMS is a modular, scalable analysis and
diagnosis system. It is optimized for reaction less measurement of analog, binary and
numerical data. SIPLUS CMS can be integrated in existing and new industrial plants.
SIPLUS CMS can be integrated into the TIA-Architecture.

2.2 What is an Interface Node ION BI?
Definition
The ION BI allows the data sampling of 8 binary, separate electrically isolated signals
with a level of 0/24 V. The maximum sample rate is up to 50 kHz per channel.
Application Area
The compact design of the ION BI enables the application in space-saving ranges.
Easy handling of ION BI provides a fast commissioning and maintenance
The product is designed for the application on a DIN Rail or for mounting angles.
Display
The device ION BINARYINPUT T001 provides three plugs for further SIPLUS
CMS4000 system components and eight inputs for binary 0/24 V signals.

3 Installation
3.1 Type of Installation
Note
The device ION BINARYINPUT T001 may exclusively be operated when installed on a DIN rail.
3.2 Installation
Installation of the device on a DIN rail:
Hang the upper table-track of the device on the DIN rail and push it down to-
wards the DIN rail so that it snaps in.
Installation of electric connection cables:
Install the terminal block of the binary connection cables.
Install the plugs of the IEEE1394 connection cables.
Install the terminal block of the power supply connection cable.

Caution
The spaces, which are specified in chapter „Appendix“, paragraph „Dimension Drawing“, on top and under-
neath the device (25 mm) and in front of the device (80 mm) have to be kept.
3.3 Disassembly
Disassembly of electric connection cables:
Disassemble the terminal block of the power supply connection cable.
Disassemble the plugs of the IEEE1394 connection cable.
Disassemble the terminal block of the binary connection cables.

4.2 Grounding
The screw on the front side of the device is provided as grounding connection.

4.3 Interfaces
4.3.1 IEEE1394a Interfaces
At the ION BINARYINPUT T001 the IEEE1394a Interfaces (P1 / P2 / P3) are imple-
mented as 6-pin-sockets.

Caution
Only cables of a maximum length of 4.5 m may be connected to the IEEE1394a Interfaces.
4.3.2 Power Supply Interface
The connection takes place via a 3-pin plug-in terminal block. The power supply is
connected to the chassis via a low resistance in order to keep a high interference re-
sistance.
The supply voltage is attached via pin 1 (24V) and pin 2 (0V).
The power feed of 24 V on pin 3 (PD - Power Down) of the terminal block of 90 sec-
onds causes a RESET of the device. After approximately 90 seconds the device
starts automatically again.

Caution
The device ION BINARYINPUT T001 is designed for operation with safety extra-low voltage. This
means that only safety extra-low voltages (SELV) complying with IEC950/EN60950/VDE0805 can
be connected to the power supply terminals.
The power supply unit for the supply of the ION BINARYINPUT T001 has to meet NEC Class 2
(range of voltage 18-32 V, maximum load of 1 A).
The ION BINARYINPUT T001 has to be protected with a fuse element of double maximum load
and tripping characteristic „medium time lag“ or „time lag“.
Never operate the ION BINARYINPUT T001 with AC voltage or DC voltage higher than 32 VDC.
4.3.3 Binary Interfaces
At the ION BINARYINPUT T001, the interface to the binary 0/24 V signals
CH 01 +/- … CH 08 +/-
is implemented as 16-pin-socket (PHOENIX, MVSTBW 2,5/16-GF-5,08).
