Getting Started
CAUTIONS AND WARNINGS
Read and understand these instructions before installing and retain them for future reference.
This product is intended for installation in accordance with the National Electric Code and local regulations in the United States or
the Canadian Electrical Code and local regulations in Canada. Use indoors only. This product is not designed or approved for
use on power lines other than 120V 60Hz, single phase. Attempting to use this product on non-approved power lines may have
hazardous consequences.
- Use only indoors or in outdoor rated box
- To reduce the risk of overheating and possible damage to other equipment, do not use this product to control loads in
excess of the specified maximum(s) or, install in locations with electricity specifications which are outside of the product’s
specifications.
Plug X10 Maxi Controller into an unswitched outlet
X10 Maxi Controller’s LED will turn on solid
Assigning an X10 Address to an On/Off Button Pair
1) Simultaneously press & hold the All On and Dim buttons until X10 Maxi Controller beeps
X10 Maxi Controller’s LED will begin blinking
2) Tap the On button of the desired On/Off button pair
X10 Maxi Controller will beep and its LED will continue blinking
3) Open the cover on X10 Maxi Controller by lifting it up at the top. The cover’s hinge is at the bottom of
X10 Maxi Controller.
4) Select the X10 House Code you want to use (A through P). For A through N, tap the button with that
label. For O, tap the All On and Bright buttons simultaneously. For P, tap the All Off and Bright
buttons simultaneously.
X10 Maxi Controller will beep and its LED will continue blinking
5) Select the X10 Unit Code you want to use (1through 16). For 1 through 14, tap the button with that
label. For 15, tap the All On and Bright buttons simultaneously. For 16, tap the All Off and Bright
button simultaneously
X10 Maxi Controller will double-beep and its LED will turn on solid
6) Close the cover on X10 Maxi Controller
Removing an X10 Address from an On/Off Button Pair
1) Simultaneously press & hold the All On and Dim buttons until X10 Maxi Controller beeps
X10 Maxi Controller’s LED will begin blinking
2) Press & hold the Off button of the desired On/Off button pair until it double-beeps
X10 Maxi Controller’s LED will stop blinking and turn on solid

NOTE: Non-dimmable devices will not be affected when the Bright or Dim buttons are used. Pressing &
holding the On/Off button pairs also does not affect non-dimmable devices.
Changing the Button Labels
The smoked plastic cover over the button labels will pop off by lifting from the sides.

Advanced Features
Disabling/Enabling the Beeper
With the beeper turned off, X10 Maxi Controller will no longer beep during button presses. However, the
beeper will still sound when X10 Maxi Controller enters and exits setup modes.
Default: On
1) Simultaneously press & hold the All On and Dim buttons until X10 Maxi Controller beeps
X10 Maxi Controller’s LED will begin blinking
2) Tap the Bright button
X10 Maxi Controller will double-beep and its LED will turn on solid
To re-enable the beeper, repeat steps 1 and 2.
Disabling/Enabling the Status LED
With the LED turned off, X10 Maxi Controller will no longer flash its LED upon button presses. However,
the LED will still function when X10 Maxi Controller enters and exits setup modes.
Default: On
1) Simultaneously press & hold the All On and Dim buttons until X10 Maxi Controller beeps
X10 Maxi Controller’s LED will begin blinking
2) Tap the All Off button
X10 Maxi Controller will double-beep and its LED will turn off
To re-enable the LED, repeat steps 1 and 2.

Resetting an On/Off Button Pair
1) Unplug X10 Maxi Controller for about 10 seconds
2) While holding down the Off button of the pair you want to reset, plug the unit back in
X10 Maxi Controller will beep and its LED will flash twice
3) Wait 3 seconds and then release the Off button
The X10 Maxi Controller LED will flash once
Factory Reset
1) Unplug X10 Maxi Controller for about 10 seconds
2) While holding down the Bright button on X10 Maxi Controller, plug the unit back in
X10 Maxi Controller will beep and its LED will flash and then turn on solid
3) Wait 3 seconds and then release the Bright button
X10 Maxi Controller’s LED should flash once

Troubleshooting
Problem Possible Cause Solution
X10 Maxi Controller may
not be getting power.
Make sure X10 Maxi Controller is not plugged into
a switched outlet that is turned off.
X10 Maxi Controller’s
Status LED is not
turning on. The LED may have been
disabled. Re-enable the LED.
X10 Maxi Controller’s
beeper is not working.
The beeper may have
been disabled. Re-enable the beeper.
X10 Maxi Controller and
the controller may be on
opposite phases.
Install an X10 signal bridge or coupler to bridge the
power line phases.
X10 Maxi Controller may
be plugged into a power
strip.
Power line signals can’t travel through power
filters. Plug X10 Maxi Controller directly into a wall
outlet.
Move the other modules to different areas of your
home to reduce noise on the power line.
X10 devices are not
responding to X10
Maxi Controller.
Other modules may be
loading down the signal or
creating too much noise. Install a noise filter between the X10 Maxi
Controller and the noise-producing device.
All of my X10 devices
do not respond to the
Bright and Dim
buttons.
The Bright and Dim
buttons only control the
X10 scene assigned to the
last On/Off button pair
tapped.
Tap the On button of the scene you want to control
and then use the Bright and Dim buttons.
Unplug X10 Maxi Controller for at least 10 seconds
and then reinstall.
X10 Maxi Controller is
locked up.
A surge or excessive
noise on the power line
may have glitched it. If the above doesn’t work, perform a factory reset.

Certification
This product has been thoroughly tested by ITS ETL SEMKO, a nationally recognized independent third-party testing laboratory. The North American
ETL Listed mark signifies that the device has been tested to and has met the requirements of a widely recognized consensus of U.S. and Canadian
device safety standards, that the manufacturing site has been audited, and that the manufacturer has agreed to a program of quarterly factory follow-
up inspections to verify continued conformance.
Limited Warranty
Seller warrants to the original consumer purchaser of this product that, for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase, this product will be free from
defects in material and workmanship and will perform in substantial conformity to the description of the product in this Owner’s Manual. This warranty
shall not apply to defects or errors caused by misuse or neglect. If the product is found to be defective in material or workmanship, or if the product
does not perform as warranted above during the warranty period, Seller will either repair it, replace it, or refund the purchase price, at its option, upon
receipt of the product at the address below, postage prepaid, with proof of the date of purchase and an explanation of the defect or error. The repair,
replacement, or refund that is provided for above shall be the full extent of Seller’s liability with respect to this product. For repair or replacement during
the warranty period, call the Tech Support at 800-762-7845 with the Model # and Revision # of the device to receive an RMA# and send the product,
along with all other required materials to:
