Important information for the upgrade

Introduction
IMPORTANT
To complete the upgrade procedure, you need the following:
lSRS-V2 dongle (included in the Microsoft® Teams® Rooms upgrade kit provided by SMART)
lA blank, unencrypted USB drive with at least 8 GB of space
lA USB keyboard and mouse
Customers with active SMARTService Plans can request an upgrade kit by initiating a service ticket with
SMART Support (smarttech.com/contactsupport).
SMART and Microsoft are providing an upgrade for the SMARTRoom System™ software to Microsoft
Teams Rooms for customers who have an active SMART Service Plan (smarttech.com/services/offerings).
This upgrade works with existing SMART Room System hardware and includes:
lOperating system upgrade from Windows® 7 Embedded to Windows 10 IoT Enterprise
lSoftware upgrade from Skype® Room System to Microsoft Teams Rooms
lSRS-V2 dongle to support Microsoft Teams Rooms HDMI video ingest from guest computers
The upgrade improves system performance, usability, and security for the room system. It enhances
system stability, improves the user interface, and is compatible with Skype for Business and Microsoft
Teams room accounts. Features include:
lWindows 10 IoT Enterprise
lMicrosoft Teams Rooms software
lSoftware updates provisioned by SMART as required until August 31, 2021

Microsoft Teams Rooms software is not compatible with some features of SMARTRoom System with
Skype for Business. The following features will stop working if you upgrade to MicrosoftTeams Rooms:
lTouch pass-through to a connected guest computer
lConnecting a guest computer using a VGA cable
lSynchronization of the audio mute controls on the microphones and the on-screen audio mute control
on the CP311 console
CAUTION
If you upgrade to Microsoft Teams Rooms software, you won’t be able to go back to the previous
version.
NOTE
If you would rather re-purpose the components of a room system than upgrade its software to Microsoft
Teams Rooms, see the SMARTRoom System with Skype for Business decommission guide
(smarttech.com/kb/171634).
Important procedure for room systems with
SMARTBoard® 8000i-G5 series interactive displays
For room systems with SMARTBoard 8000i-G5 series interactive displays, the upgrade automatically turns
off the presence detection sensor on each display. This prevents an issue that can cause blank screens on
occasion. If you experience blank screens and the presence detection sensor is not turned off (or is turned
on accidentally), you can turn the sensor off manually following the instructions below.
For room systems with SMARTBoard 8000i-G5 series interactive displays, you should also enable a screen
saver to prevent screen burn-in. SMART recommends the SrsScreensaver.scr screen saver and using
SMART SRSv2 Power Plan Gen5 for the power plan. You can set this screen saver and power plan for the
Skype user account by double-clicking the enableScreensaverAndPowerPlan script shortcut on the Admin
user’s desktop.

TIP
SMARTBoard 8000i-G5 series interactive displays
have black and red pens and no color select
modules.
To turn off the presence detection sensor manually on a SMARTBoard 8000i-G5 series interactive
display
1. Press the MENU button (1) on the side of the display.
The on-screen display menu appears.
2. Press the down arrow button (4) until the Setup menu option is selected,
and then press SET (2).
3. Press the down arrow button (4) until the Proximity menu option is
selected, and then press the left or right arrow buttons (5 or 6) to change
the Proximity menu option’s value to Off.
4. Press the MENU button (1) until the on-screen display menu closes.
Microsoft Teams Rooms upgrade kit and process
The Microsoft Teams Rooms upgrade kit includes the following components:
lSRS-V2 dongle and USB 3.0 cable
l3M™ DualLock™ Reclosable fasteners
lWindows 10 IoT Enterprise license sticker
lDirections to access the Microsoft Teams Rooms system software image (operating system and
application)

The upgrade process consists of the following steps:
1. Remove unneeded cables and connect the SRS-V2 dongle
2. Load the Microsoft Teams Rooms system software image on the USBdrive
3. Prepare the room system for the upgrade
4. Install Microsoft Teams Rooms software
5. Configuring Windows 10 IoT Enterprise
6. Calibrate the displays’ touch systems
7. Configuring Microsoft Teams Rooms
8. Preparing the room system for use
Removing unneeded cables and connecting the
SRS-V2 dongle
Microsoft Teams Rooms doesn’t support VGA video capture, so you can remove the VGA cable and the
co-molded VGA/HDMI cable. Microsoft Teams Rooms also doesn’t require the USB bridge cable between
the guest computer and the AM70-L computing appliance.
The computing appliance is mounted behind the interactive display, so you’ll tilt the display away from the
wall to gain access to the computing appliance.
To remove unneeded cables and connect the SRS-V2 dongle
1. If your SMARTRoom System includes a wall-mount kit with panels covering the cables below the
displays at the front of the room, remove the panels to grant access to the cables.
2. For a dual display system, move the camera from the top of the displays to the right display so that it
doesn't prevent you from tilting the left display away from the wall.

3. On the left-most display, pull the two green lock tabs down (A), tilt the display away from the wall (B),
and then flip out the green kickstands (C).
4. Disconnect the USB bridge cable and the USBcable that’s connected to it, and then remove the
cables.
5. Disconnect the HDMI and VGA cables from the co-molded HDMI/VGA video capture cable. Remove
the co-molded HDMI/VGA video capture cable and the VGA cable that runs from the meeting room
table to the computing appliance.
6. Thread the remaining HDMI cable from beneath the meeting room table to the top of the table.
7. Follow the USB bridge and cable and the VGA cable to the computing appliance, and then disconnect
and remove these cables.
8. Connect the SRS-V2 dongle to the blue USB 3.0 connector on the computing appliance.

9. Disconnect the HDMIcable from the HDMI Capture connector on the computing appliance, and then
connect it to the SRS-V2 dongle.
IMPORTANT
Do not connect devices to the other end of the HDMI cable until after the upgrade to Microsoft
Teams Rooms is complete.
Loading the Microsoft Teams Rooms system software
image on the USBdrive
1. Create a FAT32-formatted bootable USB drive following these instructions:

2. Download the Microsoft Teams Rooms system software image for SMART Room System hardware
from the SMART website:
support.smarttech.com/docs/redirect/?product=srs-skype-v2&context=download
3. Unzip the downloaded file to the root of the USB drive.
Preparing the room system for the upgrade
To upgrade the room system software, you’ll connect a USB keyboard and mouse and the USB drive
loaded with the Microsoft Teams Rooms system software image to the AM70-L computing appliance.
NOTE
You will need access to at least two USB 2.0 connectors on the computing appliance. If the computing
appliance doesn’t have enough available USB connectors, you can temporarily disconnect accessory
USB cables.
To connect the USBkeyboard, USB mouse, and USBdrive
1. Disconnect two or more USBcables from the computing appliance.
NOTE
Remember to reconnect the USBcables after the upgrade is complete.

2. Connect a USB keyboard and mouse to one of the USB 2.0 connectors on the computing appliance.
3. Connect the USB drive to one of the USB 2.0 connectors on the computing appliance.
Installing Microsoft Teams Rooms
IMPORTANT
Do not connect devices to the HDMI cable connected to the SRS-V2 dongle until after the upgrade to
Microsoft Teams Rooms is complete.
1. Go to Options > Settings > Restart, and then tap Restart.
The system shuts down and restarts.
2. Tap the DELETEkey on the keyboard repeatedly when the blue screen appears to enter the BIOS.
The BIOS screen appears.
3. Select the Boot tab with the arrow keys.
4. Select Hard Drive BBS properties, and the press ENTER on the keyboard.
5. Select Boot Option #1, and then press ENTER on the keyboard.
6. Select the USB drive that you connected to the AM70-L computing appliance, and then press ENTER
on the keyboard.

7. Press F4 on the keyboard.
The Save & Exit Setup window appears.
8. Select Yes, and then press ENTER on the keyboard.
The room system restarts, installs the software, applies updates, and then turns off.
NOTE
This takes approximately 25 minutes.
9. Remove the USB drive from the computing appliance, and then turn on the room system by doing the
following:
oIf the computing appliance is installed in the display’s accessory slot, flick the display’s power
switch.
oIf the computing appliance is installed in an enclosure, press the power button on the enclosure.
IMPORTANT
If you don’t remove the USB drive before you turn on the room system, the room system will repeat
the installation process.
After approximately 10 minutes, the room system prompts you to select language, region, and
keyboard layout
Configuring Windows 10 IoT Enterprise
1. Follow the on-screen instructions to select language, region, and keyboard layout.
The system restarts and the EULA screen appears.
NOTE
This takes approximately 12 minutes.
2. Click Exit.
3. Click the Admin account, enter sfb in the password field, and then press ENTER on the keyboard.
IMPORTANT
oIt is important to change the default admin password.
oRecord your admin password in a secure place.
oEnsure that anyone who services the room system knows the password.

4. If a SMART touch system firmware update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to update the
firmware on one display at a time.
5. Go to Start > Settings > Time & Language. Ensure that the date, time, time zone, and language are
correct.
6. Go to Start > Settings > System, and then click Display.
7. Move the display icons so that the smaller room console icon is on the far left.
8. Click on the room console icon, and then select Make this my main display.
9. Click Power & sleep, and then click Additional power settings.
The Power Options window appears.
10. Select your preferred power plan or power settings.
NOTE
For room systems with SMARTBoard 8000i-G5 series interactive displays, SMART recommends the
SrsScreensaver.scr screen saver and using SMART SRSv2 Power Plan Gen5 for the power plan.
Double-click the enableScreensaverAndPowerPlan script shortcut on the desktop to enable these
features.
Calibrating the displays’ touch systems
1. Click the SMARTBoard icon in the notification area, and then select SMARTSettings.
2. Click SMARTHardware Settings.
A list of connected displays appears.
3. To identify a display in the list of devices, touch a display’s screen. The green dot next to the display in
the list will briefly turn blue.
4. Click Advanced settings for the display that had its green dot turn blue.
5. Click Calibrate.
The calibration screen appears.

6. If the calibration screen doesn’t appear on the correct display, tap the SPACEBAR on the keyboard to
move the calibration screen to the appropriate display.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate the display.
IMPORTANT
Complete the calibration steps with care to ensure that touch input is accurate.
8. If the room system has two interactive displays, repeat steps 3 to 7 for the second display.
NOTE
The calibration steps can’t be performed and aren’t needed on the CP311 console.
9. Click OK.
10. Sign out of the Windows Admin account and sign in to the Skype account (no password).
Configuring Microsoft Teams Rooms
1. Read the EULA agreement, select that you agree to the terms of use, and then tap Next.
NOTES
oThe SMART EULA agreement is at the bottom of the page.
oThe entire SMART EULA agreement is available in C:\OEMEULA.
2. In the account screen, enter the ID and password for the Microsoft Teams or Skype for Business room
account.
NOTE
This is the SIPURI for your Microsoft Teams or Skype for Business room account.
3. If the room account is configured for Microsoft Teams, select Skype for Business and Microsoft
Teams (default) in the Supported meeting mode drop-down list.
OR
If the room account is configured for Skype for Business, select Skype for Business (default) and
Microsoft Teams in the Supported meeting mode drop-down list.
4. Tap Next.

5. If your Microsoft Exchange® sign in credentials are different from your SIP URI credentials, enter your
Microsoft Exchange email and password.
NOTE
This step is not required for accounts on Office 365™.
6. Tap Next.
7. Tap Finish.
IMPORTANT
oThe SRS-V2 dongle must be connected to the AM70-L computing appliance to complete the
configuration.
oIf the Finish button is not available, disconnect the SRS-V2 dongle from the computing
appliance and then reconnect it. It might take a few seconds if the computing appliance is
installing drivers for the SRS-V2 dongle.
The room system restarts and displays the Microsoft Teams Rooms user interface.
8. Tap More.
9. Tap Settings.
10. Enter the admin password, and then press ENTER on the keyboard.
11. Tap Meetings and enable the appropriate options for your organization.
12. Tap Device.
13. If the room system has two displays, enable Dual monitor mode.
14. Disable Bluetooth beaconing.
15. Tap Peripherals.
16. Select Echo Canceling Speakerphone (SMARTAudioConferencing System) in the following drop-
down lists:
oMicrophone for Conferencing
oSpeaker for Conferencing
oDefault Speaker
17. Select None in the Content Camera (Preview) drop-down list.
18. Tap Save and exit.
The room system might restart.

Preparing the room system for use
1. Disconnect the USB keyboard and mouse from the AM70-L computing appliance.
2. Reconnect any USB cables to the computing appliance that you temporarily disconnected earlier.
NOTE
SMART recommends you connect the CAM301 conference camera to the USB 2.0 connectors 5 or
6 on the computing appliance:
3. Secure the SRS-V2 dongle to the wall, stand, or other available fixed surface with the included
3MDual Lock Reclosable fasteners.
4. Tilt the display away from the wall, disengage the green kickstands, and then let the display rest
against the wall mount. Move the green tabs up to lock the display in place.
5. If you moved the conferencing camera, move it back to its original location between the displays.
6. If the room system includes a wall-mount kit, replace the panels.
