101 P2 Water Level Meter Troubleshooting
Model 101 P2 Mk1
1. Check the Probe:
a) If the P2 Probe is continuously sounding in air, and lowering
the sensitivity dial does not fix the issue, ensure the probe is
dry, then test the probe in tap water.
b) Is the P2 Probe dirty at the central sensor pin? Clean the
probe according to the Care and Cleaning Instructions of
the 101 P2 Operating Instructions.
4. Summary: Have you checked...
a) The battery is installed correctly, and it is at 9 volts?
b) There is no damage to the probe seal (could cause
leaks) or flat tape.
c) The measured Ohm and voltages at the probe and
Molex connectors are at the expected values?
2. Check the Faceplate Electronics:
a) Install a new 9 volt battery.
b) Push and hold down the Battery Test button, while slowly
increasing the Sensitivity Dial. The Sonalert/buzzer sounds
should become louder and the red light should glow
increasingly brighter.
Probe Body Sensor Pin Tip
f) Turn on the 101 P2, and measure the voltage across the
pins of the unplugged faceplate Molex connector - should
be 9 volts
c) Use a screwdriver to remove the faceplate, and ensure that
everything is dry, clean, and wiring connected.
e) Unplug the faceplate Molex connector (connects the tape to
the faceplate electronics), and turn the Meter on. Push the
Battery Test Button - you should see the red light and hear
the buzzer.
c) Turn the Sensitivity Dial fully on. Use a multimeter to
measure the voltage between the P2 probe sensor pin tip
and the probe body. You should see 9V.
3. Check the Tape
a) With the faceplate still detached, measure the Ohms at the
female pin at the end of the unplugged tape Molex connector
to exterior of the probe body. About 73 Ohms/100 ft is
normal.
b) Measure the Ohms at the Male pin at the end of the
unplugged Tape Molex connector to probe sensor pin.
About 73 Ohms/100 ft is normal.
Note: If the multimeter results are different than described,
above, try pushing the pin up towards the tape.
d) Everything looks dry and secure behind the faceplate?
e) The Sensitivity Dial is working as it should?
5. Send us a Video
