警告
外装を外さない、改造しない
外装を外したり、改造したりすると、感電の原因となります。
内部の調整や設定および点検を行う必要がある場合は、必ずサービストレーニン
グを受けた技術者にご依頼ください。
内部に水や異物を入れない
水や異物が入ると火災や感電の原因となります。
万一、水や異物が入ったときは、すぐに電源を切り、電源コードや接続コードを抜い
て、ソニーのサービス担当者または営業担当者にご相談ください。
付属の電源コードを使用する
付属以外の電源コードを使用すると、火災や感電の原因となります。
ほかの電源コードを使用する場合は、ソニーのサービス担当者または営業担当者
にご相談ください。
電源コードを傷つけない
電源コードを傷つけると、火災や感電の原因となります。
•電源コードを加工したり、傷つけたりしない。
•重いものをのせたり、引っ張ったりしない。
•熱器具に近づけたり、加熱したりしない。
•電源コードを抜くときは、必ずプラグを持って抜く。
•ラックマウントするとき、レールにはさみ込まない。
万一、電源コードが傷んだら、ソニーのサービス担当者に交換をご依頼ください。
油煙、湯気、湿気、ほこりの多い場所では設置•使用しない
上記のような場所で設置・使用すると、火災や感電の原因となります。
表示された電源電圧で使用する
機器に表示されたものと異なる電源電圧で使用すると、火災や感電の原因となり
ます。

通気孔をふさがない
通気孔をふさぐと内部に熱がこもり、火 災 の原 因となることがあります。
•逆さまや横倒しにしない。
•風通しの悪い、狭いところに押し込まない。
•毛足の長いじゅうたんや布団の上に置かない。
•布をかけない。
安定した場所に設置する
ぐらついた台の上や傾いたところなどに設置すると、機器が落下してけがの原因
となることがあります。
安全アースを接続する
安全アースを接続しないと、感 電 の 原 因となることがあります。次の方法でアースを
接続してください。
•電源コンセントが 3 極 の 場 合
付属の電源コードを使用することで安全アースが接続されます。
•電源コンセントが 2 極 の 場 合
付属の3極→2極の変換プラグを使用し、
変換プラグから出ている緑色のアース線
を建物に備えられているアース端子に接
続してください。
安全アースを取り付けることができない場合は、ソニーのサービス担当者にご相談
ください。
ファンが止まったままの状態で使用しない
ファンが止まると、アラームランプが点灯します。ファンが止まったまま使用し続ける
と、内部に熱がこもり火災の原因となることがあります。ソニーのサービス担当者に
ご連絡ください。
2人以上で運搬する
本機は重量物ですので、1 人 で 運 搬 すると腰を 痛めることがあります。
お手入れの際は、電源を切る
電源を接続したままお手入れをすると、感電の原因となることがあります。
下記の注意を守らないと、

ラックマウントした機器を、2台以上同時に引き出さない
2台以上同時に引き出すと、機器の重みでラックが転倒し、大けがの原因となりま
す。
一度にラックから引き出すのは1台だけにしてください。
また、ラックが 転 倒・移動しないように適切な処置をとってください。

ラックマウントは2人以上で行う
本機をラックマウントするときは、必ず2人以上で行ってください。1人で行うと、腰を
痛めることがあります。
安定した姿勢でラックマウントする
本機をラックマウントするとき、および取り外すとき、バランスを崩すと機器が落下し
てけがの原因となることがあります。安定した姿勢で注意深く作業してください。
指定されたラックマウントレールを使用する
指定以外のラックマウンﾄレールを使用すると、レールの強度不足により、機器が落
下してけがの原因となることがあります。
2台以上積み上げない
ラックを使用せずに2台以上積み上げると、機器が落下してけがの原因となること
があります。
ラックマウントレールに手や指をはさまない
ラックマウントした機器を収納するときおよび引き出すとき、ラックマウントレールに
手や指をはさみ、けがの原因となることがあります。

概要
BKNW-116はデジタルビデオハイブリッドレコーダー(DNW-A100/A50/A45など)の増設用
ハードディスクドライブユニットで す。
特長
本機をハイブリッドレコーダ ーに 接 続 することにより、ハイブリッドレコーダーのハードディスク
記録容量を6時間に拡張することができます。
この他に、本機には以下のような特長があります。
•ハイブリッドレコーダーのメニューを使用して、本機による拡張容量を最大4つのゾーンに
分割して使用することができます。
•低温環境での使用に備え、ウォームアップ回路を搭載しています。
•異常が発生した場合、ALARMインジケーターで警告します。
•ハイブリッドレコーダーと同等の耐震性を備えています。
•EIA規格の19インチ幅ラックに取り付けることができます。
接続
本機は付属のSCSIケーブルを使用して、ハイブリッドレコーダーのSCSI端子と接続します。

本機のもう一方のSCSI端子を他の機器との接続に使用しない場合は、ハイブリッド
レコーダーに付属のSCSIターミネーターで終端してください。SCSIターミネーター
はしっかりとネジで固定してください。

概要
取扱上のご注意
本機にはハードディスクドライブが搭載されています。
ハードディスクドライブは精密部品です。衝撃、振動、静電気、温度、湿度などが原因で故
障したり、ハードディスク内部のデータが破損したりする恐れがあります。
本マニュアルに記載の注意事項をよくお読みになり、慎重に取り扱ってください。
以下のご注意は、本機が故障して使用を停止した場合もお守りください。故障の原因解明
や修理を行うまでの間の、損傷の拡大を防ぎます。
衝撃、振動についてのご注意
本機の搬送や移動に際しては、以下のご注意をお守りください。
•指定された新しい梱包材料を使用する。(一度使用した梱包材料を再使用しない。)
◆詳しくは、ソニーのサービス担当者にご相談ください。
•正常な台車を使用する。
•通路の凹凸や段差を避け、慎重に運搬する。
特に、本機に通電中、および電源を切ってから約30秒以内は振動や衝撃を与えない
ようににご注意ください。
通電中の衝撃、振動はハードディスクドライブを破損する恐れがあります。
車載時やラックからの出し入れを行う場合も含め、本機を移動する際は、必ずあらかじめ電
源を切ってください。
電源入切時のご注意
•本機はハイブリッドレコーダーから制御されて動作します。本機を使用する際は、ハイブリッ
ドレコーダーの電源を入れる前に、本機の電源を入れてください。ハイブリッドレコーダー
より後に本機の電源を入れると、ハイブリッドレコーダーが本機を認識することができませ
ん。
•本機の動作中は、絶対に本機やハイブリッドレコーダーの電源を切らないでください。
本機の動作中に電源を切ると、本機に搭載されているハードディスクドライブのみならず、
ハイブリッドレコーダーのハードディスクドライブも破損する恐れがあります。
•本機の電源を切ったときは、次に電源を入れるまで約20秒以上待ってください。間隔を
置かずに電源を入れると瞬時停電検出機能が働き、ALARMインジケーターが点灯する場
合があります。

本機の各部の名称と働きは以下のとおりです。

側にすると、電源が入ってPOWERイン
ジケーターが点灯します。

本機に電源を入れると点灯します。
3BUSYインジケーター(黄)
本機のハードディスクが動作中のとき、点灯します。
4WARM-UPインジケーター(黄)
本機の内部温度が約5℃以下のとき、ウォームアップ回路が働きま
す。本インジケーターは、ウォームアップ回路が働いているとき(内
部温度が約5℃以上に上昇するまでの間）点灯します。
また、本機の電源を入れた直後約2秒間(内部回路初期化中)点
灯します。
また、ALARMインジケーターが点灯または点滅するとき、検出され
た異常の種類に応じて本インジケーターも点灯します。
(「5ALARMインジケーター」参照。)

本機に異常が検出されたとき、異常の種類に応じてWARM-UPイ
ンジケーターとともに、以下のように点灯または点滅します。

付属のSCSIコードでハイブリッドレコーダーのSCSI端子と接続しま
す。
2つのSCSI端子のうち、もう一方のSCSI端子を他の機器との接続
に使用しない場合は、ハイブリッドレコーダーに付属のSCSIターミ
ネーターで終端します。その際、SCSIターミネーターはしっかりとネ
ジで固定してください。

3AC IN(電源用AC入力)端子(3ピン)
付属の電源コードを使ってAC電源に接続します。
AC電源側が2極端子の場合は、付属の電源極性変換コネクター
を併用してください。この場合、変換プラグから出ている緑色の
アース線を接地してください。
また、ACコードのプラグが外れないように、付属のプラグホルダー
でプラグを固定することができます。
4アース端子
必要に応じて、他の機器の信号アース端子と接続してください。

Overview
The BKNW-116 is an external hard disk drive unit for digital video hybrid
recorders such as the DNW-A100/A100P/A50/A50P/A45/A45P.
Features
By connecting this unit to a hybrid recorder, you can extend the hard disk
recording capacity of the hybrid recorder to 6 hours.
This unit has the following additional features:
•Using the hybrid recorder menus, you can divide the extended hard disk
recording capacity into a maximum of four zones.
•The unit includes a warming-up circuit, allowing it to be used in low-
temperature conditions.
•If a fault occurs, the ALARM indicator gives a warning.
•The unit has the same vibration resistance as the hybrid recorder.
•The unit can be mounted in an EIA standard 19-inch rack.
Connections
Using the supplied SCSI cable, connect the unit to the SCSI connector of
the hybrid recorder.

If the other SCSI connector on this unit is not connected to another device, connect the
SCSI terminator supplied with the hybrid recorder. Fasten the SCSI terminator securely
with the screws.

Notes on Operation
This unit includes a hard disk drive.
A hard disk drive is a precision device, and if exposed to shock, vibration,
static electricity, or extremes of temperature or humidity, can fail, or the
data held on the disk can be lost.
Read carefully the warnings given in this manual, and take appropriate
care when operating the unit.
Observe the following precautions even if you have stopped using the unit
because of a fault. In the interval until diagnosis and repair can be
completed, this will prevent the possibility of the damage being worsened.
Precautions against shock and vibration
When shipping or moving the unit, observe the following precautions.
•Use the specified new packaging. (Do not reuse packaging that has been
used once.)
For details, consult your Sony service representative.
•Use only a fully-functioning trolley.
•Avoid bumps and steps, and exercise the greatest care during the moving
operation.
In particular be careful not to subject the unit to shocks or
vibration while it is powered on and for about 30 seconds after
powering off.
Shocks and vibration while the hard disk drive is powered on may cause
damage.
When carrying the unit on a trolley and while removing it from the rack,
make sure the power is off first.

Notes on powering on
•This unit operates under the control of the hybrid recorder. When
beginning operation, power this unit on before powering on the hybrid
recorder. If this unit is powered on afterwards, it will not be recognized
by the hybrid recorder.
•While this unit is operating, do not power off either this unit or the hybrid
recorder.
Powering off while the unit is operating may result in damage not only to
this hard disk drive but also to the hard disk drive of the hybrid recorder.
•After powering this unit off, ensure that at least 20 seconds elapses before
powering on again. If powered off and on again without a pause, the
power drop detection function may be triggered, in which case the
ALARM indicator will light.

Location and Function of Parts
The parts of the unit are as shown below.

1POWER switch
This powers on the unit. When in the position, the
unit is powered on, and the POWER indicator lights.
2POWER indicator (green)
This lights when the unit is powered on.
3BUSY indicator (yellow)
This lights while the disk drive is being accessed.
4WARM-UP indicator (yellow)
If the temperature inside the unit is below about 5°C
(41°F), the warm-up circuit operates. This indicator
lights when the warm-up circuit is operating (until the
internal temperature reaches 5°C (41°F)).
This indicator also lights for about 2 seconds
immediately after the unit is powered on (during
internal circuit initialization).
If the ALARM indicator is on or flashing, this
indicator may also light to distinguish the problem.

5ALARM indicator (red)
If a fault is detected in this unit, it is identified by a
combination of this indicator and the WARM-UP
indicator being lit or flashing, as shown in the
following table.
(All numerical values in table are approximate.)

Maintenance Manual.

Use the supplied SCSI cable to connect to the SCSI
connector of the hybrid recorder.
If the second of the two SCSI connectors is not
connected to another device, connect the SCSI
terminator supplied with the hybrid recorder. Fasten
the SCSI terminator securely with the screws.

These prevent the interior of the unit from overheating.
3AC IN connector (3-pin)
Connect to an AC supply.
4Ground terminal
Connect this to the signal ground terminals of other
equipment, as required.
