ODS-D280U/ODS-D280F 1-6

1-4-2. Measures to Be Taken when ODS-D280F Cannot Be Recognized from the
Connected Equipment
1. Check the LINK indicator of the ODS-D280F.
LINK indicator specifications
• Slow blue blink (at intervals of 1 second): The FC cable is not connected.
• Blue blink: The FC cable is connected.
• Fast blue blink (at intervals of 0.25 seconds): The FC cable is connected and the command has been received.
Measures for slow blue blink
If the LINK indicator is slowly blinking blue, check the following:
• Whether the SFP module of the unit is correctly installed
<Connecting an optical fibre cable through the fibre channel switch>
- Whether the optical fibre cable between the fibre channel switch and the unit is normal
- Whether the optical fibre cable is correctly connected between the fibre channel switch and the unit
- Whether the SFP module of the fibre channel switch is correctly installed
- Whether the fibre channel switch is normal
Note
Check the manufacturer’s indicator specifications to see if communication between the fibre channel switch
and the unit is normally performed.
< Connecting an optical fibre cable to the fibre channel HBA>
- Whether the optical fibre cable between the fibre channel HBA and the unit is normal
- Whether the optical fibre cable is correctly connected between the fibre channel HBA and the unit
- Whether the SFP module of the fibre channel HBA is correctly installed
- Whether the fibre channel HBA is normal
Note
Check the manufacturer’s indicator specifications to see if communication between the fibre channel HBA
and the unit is normally performed.
If the LINK indicator is slowly blinking blue even after the above check, restart the applicable drive from the Web
UI (Optical Disc Archive Library Maintenance Web UI) of ODS-L30M.
Note
When restarting the drive while the application is running, select the correct drive to be restarted.
If this problem still remains, perform the following:
• Replace the optical fibre cable.
• Replace the SFP module of the unit.
• Replace the SFP module of the fibre channel switch.
• Replace the SFP module of the fibre channel HBA.
• Replace the fibre channel HBA.
2. Check the recognition status on the connected equipment side referring to “For Windows” or “For Linux”.
For Windows
Check (1)
Open Device Manager and check that “SONY ODS-D280F SCSI Optical Device” for connected devices is shown in
the “Disk drive” field.
Check (2)
Check that the fibre channel HBA product name installed in the PC is shown in the “Memory area controller” field from
Device Manager in the same way as Check (1).
ODS-D280U/ODS-D280F 1-7

Check (1):
SONY ODS-D280F SCSI Optical Device
Check (2):
Fibre channel HBA product name
Measures
If indication cannot be checked in Check (1) and Check (2) or when a [!], [?], or [x] mark is attached in the device list,
perform the following procedure to check whether the indication of Device Manager becomes normal.
1. Restarting the drive:
(1) Check the serial number of the drive shown by the utility software (Optical Disc Archive Utility).
(2) On the Web UI (Optical Disc Archive Library Maintenance Web UI) drive setting tab of ODS-L30M, restart
the drive whose serial number is not shown.
(3) After about one minute has passed after restart, perform Check (1) and Check (2) again and check the
indication of Device Manager.
2. Disabling/enabling in Device Manager:
(1) Disable the fibre channel HBA by Device Manager, and then enable it.
(2) After about one minute has passed after the fibre channel HBA is enabled, perform Check (1) and Check (2)
again and check the indication of Device Manager.
Note
Connected equipment may be hung up. Before taking this measures, close the upper applications.
3. After about one minute has passed after the connected equipment is restarted, perform Check (1) and Check (2)
again and check the indication of Device Manager.
