1 Overview
HDS-7100 System Introduction
This manual is Volume 1 of the User’s Guide for the HZS-7060 Operation
Software for the HDS-7100 High Definition Digital Video Switcher.
The User’s Guide consists of two volumes, and this volume covers control of
the HDS-7100 from the BKDS-2010 Switcher Control Panel.
System Configuration
The following figure shows an example configuration of an HDS-7100
system.

1 Overview
Terms used in this manual
In this manual the following terms (other than product names) are used to
refer to this software product and related devices.
Operation Software
The HZS-7060 Operation Software provides for control of an HDS-7100
High Definition Digital Video Switcher and internal DME function.
ROM packs, disks and manuals included in the HZS-7060
The following ROM packs, disks and User’s Guide volumes are included in
the product.

1 Overview
Installing software, and User’s Guide volumes used
Use the disks and User’s Guide volumes included in the HZS-7060 according
to the following table of objectives.
For details of the method of installing ROM PACK 1 and ROM PACK 2 in
the BKDS-2010, see page 2-2 in this manual.
For the method of installing DISK 1 and DISK 2, refer to HZS-7060 User’s
Guide Volume 2.
Note
With the HDS-7100, you can use either an internal DME (HKDS-7061 and
HKDS-7071) or an external DME (HDME-7000 or similar connected to the
EXT DME 1 connector). However, it is not possible to use both together.
To use the internal DME, in the menu for peripheral devices, select “INT” for
“DME” (see page 9-12).
For the operations when an external DME is selected (“EXT”), refer to the
HZDM-7020 User’s Guide.

1 Overview
Features
The HDS-7100 is a high-performance switcher of high functionality, that
supports HDVS (High Definition Video System).
The following are some of the features of this switcher system.
Full-featured video effects
There is a PGM/PST (Program/Preset) bank for the HDS-7100 switcher
system, which is equipped with a keyer and a downstream keyer.
DME wipes (operation coupled to a DME) (option)
By installing the optional HKDS-7071 Digital Multi Effects Board and
HKDS-7061 Video Modifier Board (internal DME) in the switcher, you can
use the control panel to carry out DME wipes, using DME effects (the “DME
LINK™” function).
DME wipes are also available by connecting an external DME unit, such as
the HDME-7000 High Definition Digital Multi Effects to the switcher.
System configuration flexibility
Wide range of options
There is a wide range of options, allowing just the features required to be
installed in a system.
Convenient interfaces with external equipment
Connecting the BVE-9100 Editing Control Unit to your system will allow
you to carry out such advanced editing operations as EDL (Edit Decision
List) management.

To install the HZS-7060 software, proceed as follows.
Installation of the Switcher Processor Program
Use the following procedure.
1Insert the ROM PACK 1 (OPERATING PROGRAM 1) to the specified
block of the control panel.
2Press the SETUP button on the control panel.
The setup menu appears.
3Press the following sequence of function keys:
F2 (SYSTEM) →F6 (MORE) →F5 (INSTAL)
The installation menu appears.
4Press F2 (PROC).
A confirmation message appears.
5Press F5 (YES).
The installation begins. When it completes normally, the system is in the
state after powering on.

Blank key tops and key tops with designations, such as “PROC KEY” and
“CCR1” are supplied together with the HZS-7060.
Replace key tops in the control panel, as shown in the following figures.
