1. Prevention against overloading of branch circuit
When this product is installed in a rack and is
supplied power from an outlet on the rack, please
make sure that the rack does not overload the supply
circuit.
2. Providing protective earth
When this product is installed in a rack and is
supplied power from an outlet on the rack, please
confirm that the outlet is provided with a suitable
protective earth connection.
3. Internal air ambient temperature of the rack
When this product is installed in a rack, please make
sure that the internal air ambient temperature of the
rack is within the specified limit of this product.
4. Prevention against achieving hazardous
condition due to uneven mechanical loading
When this product is installed in a rack, please make
sure that the rack does not achieve hazardous
condition due to uneven mechanical loading.

THIS APPARATUS MUST BE EARTHED.
a) An equipment grounding conductor that is not
smaller in size than the ungrounded branch
circuit supply conductor, is to be installed as part
of the branch circuit that supplies the equipment.
Bare, covered or insulated grounding conductors
are acceptable. Individually covered or insulated
equipment grounding conductors shall have a
continuous outer finish that is either green, or
green with one or more yellow stripes.
The equipment grounding conductor is to be
connected to ground at the service equipment.
b) The attachment plug receptacles in the vicinity of
the equipment are all to be of a grounding type,
and the equipment grounding conductors serving
these receptacles are to be connected to earth
ground at the service equipment.

Section 1
General Information for Installation
1-1. Operating Environment
.Install the unit in a well ventilated place to prevent a temperature rise in the unit. Never cover the
ventilation holes of the outer frame.
.Never install the unit near a heat source because the environmental temperature during operation should
be 5 dC to 35 dC.
1-2. Power Supply
1-2-1. Power Switch for Service

The power switches for service of the control panel BKDS-7017 are placed only in the unit.
In addition there is not any power switch for service in the control panel BKDS-2010/BKDM-3010.
When installing the unit, incorporate a readily accessible disconnect device in the fixed wiring, so that the
operator/engineer can turn off the power in case a fault should occur.

As the inrush current at power-on is the maximum 80 A for HDS-7150/7100 and the maximum 20 A for
the control panel, the capacity of the AC power must be commensurate with them. If the capacity of the
AC power is not adequately large, the breaker of the AC power at the supply side will operate or the unit
will abnormally operate.

Be sure to use the power cords for the U.S.A and Canada that are supplied with power supply unit (HKDS-
7695/7695A). However, any power cords are not supplied with the control panel. Use the power cords for
the control panel, that suit to the country where the system is installed.

.Never disconnect or connect the DC power cord (harness A and harness B) while the power of HKDS-
7695/7695A is on. It may cause fire or electric shock.
.Never use a DC power cord other than the supplied DC power cord. It may cause fire or electric shock.
The HDS-7150/7100 does not have a power switch and power indicator. For the power-on/off of the HDS-
7150/7100, use the power switch of the HKDS-7695/7695A.
One unit of the HDS-7150/7100 requires one or two units of the HKDS-7695/7695A.
The HDS-7150/7100 and the HKDS-7695/7695A are connected using the two specified DC power supply
cord, harness A (MB-PA2) and harness B (MB-PB2) that are supplied with the HKDS-7695/7695A.
(1) Connect the two AC power cords supplied with the HKDS-7695/7695A to an AC power source of 100 V to
120 V.

Connect the two AC power cords to the same AC power source.
(2) Connect the PROCESSOR A connector of the HKDS-7695/7695A to the POWER SUPPLY 1 A con-
nector of the HDS-7150/7100 using harness A (MB-PA2). Connect the PROCESSOR B connector of
the HKDS-7695/7695A to connector B of POWER SUPPLY 1 of the HDS-7150/7100 using harness B
(MB-PB2).
(3) Fix the harness connectors with screws. DC power voltages of 5 V, 3.3 V, _5 V, and 12 V are thus
supplied to the HDS-7150/7100.

Connecting a redundant (duplex) power supply (For HDS-7150)

.HDS-7100 can not use a redundant power supply.
.A combination of the HKDS-7695 and the HKDS-7695A is not allowed.
Use two power supply units of the same model.
(1) Remove the six screws on the blank panel.
(2) Connect the PROCESSOR A connector of the second HKDS-7695/7695A and the POWER SUPPLY 2
A connector of the HDS-7150 using the harness A (MB-PA2). Connect the PROCESSOR B connector
of the HKDS-7695/7695A and the POWER SUPPLY 2 B connector of the HDS-7150 using the harness
B (MB-PB2).

2-2. Rack Mounting
2-2. Rack Mounting
The HDS-7150/7100 can be mounted in a 19-inch standard rack. Be sure to use the optional Rack Mount
Rail RMM-18DV.
Required Parts
.Rack Mount Rails (RMM-18DV) : 2 sets
.Screws for plate nut (long) installing (B4 x8) : 16 pcs
.Screws for rack mounting (RK5 x16) : 8 pcs
.Ornamental washers for rack mounting : 8 pcs (Sony part number : 2-297-913-00)

Be sure to fix the rack to the floor with bolts. When the unit is pulled out from the rack, this will prevent
its fall.

.Be sure to use the recommended rail when rack mounting. The unit cannot be fixed completely to a
rack by rack angles alone.
.Be sure to mount in the rack with two-person or more.

.If the HDS-7150/7100 are mounted in the 19-inch standard rack, it is recommended to install a ventila-
tion fan to prevent a temperature rise in the rack. Make sure that all the units in the rack should be
operated within the temperature range of 5 °C to 35 °C.
.An installation manual is supplied with the Rack Mount Rail RMM-18DV. However follow the
instructions in this manual. Because the rack mounting procedures of the HDS-7150/7100 differ
somewhat from the procedures explained in the RMM-18DV installation manual.

Procedures
(1) Pull out the inner member while pressing the stopper of the RMM-18DV.
(2) Secure the four inner members to the HDS-7150/7100 by the 32 screws (B4 x8) supplied with the
RMM-18DV.
(3) Remove the feet of the HDS-7150/7100 as required.

(4) Temporarily secure the bracket and the plate nut (long) to the outer member 1by the preparated
screws (B4 x8) for fixing the plate nut (long). While sliding the outer member 2back-and-forth, to
see the screw hole of the outer member 1, attach the bracket and the plate nut (long).
(5) Temporarily secure the each outer member assembly (bracket) to both sides of the rack by the two
screws (C4 x12), the two washers (W4), and the plate nut (short) supplied with the RMM-18DV.
Adjust the installation position of the outer member assembly to meet the specification shown in the
figure.
After the adjustment, tighten the screws (B4 x8) temporarily secured in the step (4).
