den CO2Endo-Arthroflator VET richtig aufzu-
stellen, anzuschließen und zu bedienen. Alle

CO2Endo-Arthroflator VET. All essential details of
the equipment and all actions required on your part

pressure is too low (< 10 bar) (with hysteresis)

input pressure is within the permissible range

rent actual pressure (setpoints are indicated by
a dot to the right of the numbers)

Der Endo-Arthroflator VET 62432520 ist ein
Insufflator, der ausschließlich für den Veterinärbe-
reich bestimmt ist.
Der Endo-Arthroflator VET hat zwei Betriebsmodi:

und arthroskopische Operationen vorgenommen
werden.
Einschalten LAP-/ARTHRO-Modus: Beim
Einschalten arbeitet das Gerät ausschließlich
im LAP-Mode. Um in den ARTHRO-Mode zu
gelangen, muss der Anwender das Gerät bewusst

Der Druck am Patienten kann im LAP-Modus in
Stufen von 1 mmHg zwischen 0 und 15 mmHg
eingestellt werden und im ARTHRO-Modus in Stu-
fen von 5 mmHg zwischen 50 und 100 mmHg.
Der Flow kann im LAP-Modus auf die Werte 0 /
1,5 / 5 / 10 und 20 l/min eingestellt werden. Im
ARTHRO-Modus sind die Werte 0 / 1,5 / 3 / 5 und
10 l/min möglich.

El Endo-Arthroflator VET 62432520 es un insufla-
dor previsto exclusivamente para su aplicación en
medicina veterinaria.
El Endo-Arthroflator VET ofrece dos modos de servi-
cio: Con este aparato pueden realizarse intervencio-
nes quirúrgicas laparoscópicas y artroscópicas.
Conexión del modo LAP/ARTHRO: Al conectar el
aparato, éste funciona exclusivamente en el modo
LAP. Para activar el modo ARTHRO, el usuario debe
conmutar deliberadamente el aparato. (accione el
interruptor de la red , pulse simultáneamente las
teclas + y - de la presión y manténgalas pulsa-
das durante 3 segundos como mínimo: aparece la
indicación ARTHRO). Confirme los valores nominales
parpadeantes con una de las teclas o .
La alimentación de gas se lleva a cabo mediante una
botella de gas CO2de calidad para uso médico.
Cuidado: Utilice las botellas de gas
únicamente en posición vertical. Para la
extracción gaseosa, la conexión debe estar
arriba.
Cuidado: Un gran consumo de gas puede
provocar la formación de hielo en el reductor
de presión (en el aparato), lo que podría
ocasionar errores de funcionamiento del
aparato.
La presión en el paciente puede ajustarse en el
modo LAP en pasos de 1 mmHg entre 0 y 15
mmHg, y en el modo ARTHRO en pasos de 5
mmHg entre 50 y 100 mmHg.
El flujo puede ajustarse en el modo LAP a los valores
0 / 1,5 / 5 / 10 y 20 l/min; en el modo ARTHRO es
posible ajustar los valores 0 / 1,5 / 3 / 5 y 10 l/min.
Description of the unit
The Endo-Arthroflator VET 62432520 is an insuf-
flator which is intended exclusively for use in
veterinary medicine.
The Endo-Arthroflator VET has two operating
modes: Both laparoscopic and arthroscopic opera-
tions can be performed with this device.
Switching on LAP/ARTHRO mode: When
switched on, the device works exclusively in LAP
mode. To access the ARTHRO mode, the user
must deliberately switch over the device (actuate
the power switch and, at the same time, press
and hold down the + and – pressure button for
at least 3 seconds - the ARTHRO display appears).
Confirm the flashing setpoint display by pressing
one of the buttons or .
The gas is supplied by a CO2gas bottle of medical
quality.
Warning: Gas bottles may only be oper-
ated when upright. The connection must be
at the top to supply the gas.
Warning:
Consumption of large quantities
of gas can cause the pressure reducer (in
the device) to become iced which, in turn,
may result in the device malfunctioning.
The patient pressure in LAP mode can be set in
increments of 1 mmHg between 0 and 15 mmHg
and in the ARTHRO mode in increments of 5
mmHg between 50 and 100 mmHg.
In the LAP mode, the flow can be set to 0 / 1.5 / 5 /
10 and 20 l/min. In the ARTHRO mode, the follow-
ing values can be set 0 / 1.5 / 3 / 5 and 10 l/min.

High intra-abdominal pressure
Excessive absorption of CO2results from either
excessive gas flow and/or excessive gas pressure.
The abdomen can be adequately distended by the
maximum pressure of 15 mmHg, which is valid
in LAP mode. Little intravasation should occur at
these levels.
Adequate respirations help avoid problems related
to CO2.
Note: At a pressure of 55-100 mmHg (LAP mode)

Safety precautions when
operating the unit
It is the user’s responsibility to make sure the unit
is safe and operates properly before using it (see
the section “Testing the unit for proper operation”).
During treatment using the Endo-Arthroflator VET
the patient must be treated and kept under obser-
vation with the usual medical care. This includes
keeping a check on the progress of treatment, as
well as monitoring the vital levels and the anesthet-
ic. Any treatment may only be performed if there is
visual observation of the action of the unit.

Safety precautions at the site
of installation
The unit may only be used in medical rooms whose
electrical systems have been installed in accor-
dance with applicable national regulations.
It is not intended for use in hazardous zones.
This means, for example, that when using easily
combustible and explosive inhalation anesthetics
or mixtures thereof, the unit must not be operated
inside the hazard zone shown in the diagram. This
also applies for easily combustible and explosive
chemicals, e.g. skin disinfectants and fast-acting
surface disinfectants.
The unit is equipped with a connector for attach-
ing a ground line. It should be connected up in
accordance with national regulations.
Medidas de seguridad en el

El equipo sólo podrá ser utilizado en espacios mé-
dicos cuya instalación eléctrica haya sido efectuada
de acuerdo con las normas nacionales de seguridad
vigentes.
El equipo no está previsto para ser utilizado en zo-
nas expuestas a posibles explosiones. Esto significa,
entre otras cosas:
Si se emplean productos anestésicos para inha-
lación fácilmente inflamables y explosivos o sus
mezclas, no podrá utilizarse el equipo en las zonas
calificadas como peligrosas por este motivo. Esto es
válido también para productos químicos fácilmente
inflamables y explosivos tales como, p. ej., produc-
tos para desinfección de la piel y desinfectantes
rápidos para superficies.
El equipo está provisto de una conexión equipo-
tencial. La conexión debe efectuarse de acuerdo
con las normas nacionales de seguridad que estén
vigentes.

Es ist nicht für den Betrieb in explosionsgefähr-
deten Bereichen bestimmt. Dies bedeutet u.a.:
Bei Verwendung von leicht brennbaren und ex-
plosionsfähigen Inhalations-Anästhesiemitteln und
deren Gemischen darf das Gerät nicht in der dar-
gestellten Gefahrenzone betrieben werden. Dieses
gilt auch für leicht brennbare und explosionsfähige
Chemikalien, z.B. Hautdesinfektions- und Flächen-
schnelldesinfektionsmittel.
Das Gerät ist mit einer Steckvorrichtung für
den Potentialausgleich ausgerüstet. Diese nach
Maßgabe der national gültigen Vorschriften
anschließen.

Sicherheitseinrichtungen
Der Endo-Arthroflator VET verfügt über folgende
Sicherheitseinrichtungen:
Allgemeine Sicherheitsfunktionen
• Gasversorgungsdrucküberwachung: Es
ertönt ein andauerndes akustisches Signal ( kurze
Dreifachpiepstonintervalle mit langen Pausen ),
wenn bei einem Gasversorgungsdruck von
< 10 bar die Insufflation eingeschaltet wird oder
wenn während der Insufflation der Gasver-
sorgungsdruck auf unter 10 bar abfällt (rotes
Flaschensymbol )
• Negativalarm (im LAP-Mode): Wird am
Ausgang zum Patienten ein negativer Druck
gemessen, wird ein akustisches Signal abgege-
ben (kurzer Doppelpiepston mit langen Pausen,
siehe Abbildung links) Die Warnung bleibt so lange
erhalten, bis der gemessene Druck wieder positiv
wird. Diese Warnung kann aber auch als positive
Rückmeldung verstanden werden. So z.B., wenn
bei richtiger Platzierung der Veress-Nadel die
Bauchdecke angehoben wird, und im Abdomen
ein negativer Druck entsteht. Der Negativalarm
ertönt nur im LAP-Mode.
• Softwareüberwachung des Druckes im LAP-
Mode: Bei einem Patientendruck von >= 5mmHg
über dem eingestellten Sollwert und nach der
eingestellten Verzögerungszeit ( 3 bis 40s, siehe
Serviceprogramm 1, Seite 29 ) ertönt ein akusti-
sches Signal (langer pulsierender Warnton, siehe
Abbildung links). Bei eingeschaltetem Gasfluss
wird das EIN-/AUS-Magnetventil nach 3s deakti-
viert. Der Gasfluss wird damit unterbrochen.
Der akustische Alarm kann hier nicht deaktiviert
werden. Es kann aber erreicht werden, dass das
akustische Signal erst nach einer relativen langen
Verzögerungszeit (z.B. 20s) auftritt, wenn diese
relativ lange Verzögerungszeit im Serviceprogramm
1 eingestellt wurde (siehe S. 29)
Safety features
The Endo-Arthroflator VET has the following safety
features:
General safety functions
• Monitoring of gas supply pressure: A pro-
longed acoustic signal sounds (short triple peep
with long pauses) if distension is activated at a gas
supply pressure of < 10 bar or if the gas supply
pressure drops below 10 bar during distension (red
bottle symbol ).
• Negative alarm (in LAP mode): If negative
pressure is measured at the output to the patient,
an acoustic signal sounds (quick double peep
with long pauses, see picture on left). The warning
continues until the pressure measured is positive
again. This warning can also be taken as positive
feedback. For example when the Veress needle is
correctly positioned, the abdominal wall rises up
and negative pressure arises in the abdomen. The
negative alarm only sounds in LAP mode.
• Software monitoring of pressure in the LAP
mode: If the patient pressure is >= 5 mmHg above
the set setpoint an acoustic signal sounds after
the set time delay (3 to 40 s, see service program
1, page 29) (long intermittent warning tone, see
picture on left). If the gas flow is switched on, the
ON/OFF solenoid valve is deactivated after 3 s. The
gas flow is thus interrupted.
The acoustic alarm cannot be deactivated here.
However, the acoustic signal can be set to sound
after a relatively long time delay (e.g., 20 s), if this
relatively long time delay has been set in the ser-
vice program 1 (see page 29).

iniciarse la insuflación con una presión de alimenta-
ción de gas de < 10 bar o si, durante la insuflación,
la presión de alimentación de gas desciende por
debajo de 10 bar (símbolo en rojo con forma de
botella ).
• Alarma negativa (en el modo LAP): Si en la sa-
lida hacia el paciente se mide una presión negativa,
se emite una señal acústica (breve pitido doble con
pausas intermedias largas, véase la ilustración a la
izquierda). La señal de advertencia permanece hasta
que la presión medida vuelve a ser positiva. Esta
señal de advertencia puede interpretarse también
como una respuesta positiva. Así, p. ej., cuando
estando la aguja Veress correctamente emplazada,
la pared abdominal se eleva y en el abdomen se
produce una presión negativa. La alarma negativa
suena únicamente en el modo LAP.
• Monitorización por medio de software de
la presión en el modo LAP: Una señal acústica
suena en caso de una presión del paciente de >=
5 mmHg por encima del valor nominal ajustado y
después de transcurrido el período de retardo ajus-
tado (de 3 a 40 s, véase el programa de servicio 1,
pág. 29) (señal de alarma larga intermitente, véase
la ilustración a la izquierda). En caso de estar el flujo
de gas conectado, la válvula magnética de CON./
DESC. se desactiva después de 3 s. De este modo
se interrumpe el flujo de gas.
La alarma acústica no puede desactivarse en este
caso. Pero se puede lograr que la señal acústica
aparezca sólo después de un período de retardo
relativamente largo (p. ej., 20 s), si este período se
ha ajustado correspondientemente en el programa
de servicio 1 (véase la pág. 29):

einem Patientendruck von >30mmHg (LAP),
>110mmHg (ARTHRO) und einer fixen Verzöge-
rungszeit (ca. 5s) wird bei eingeschaltetem Gas-
fluss das EIN-/AUS-Magnetventil deaktiviert. Der
Gasfluss wird unterbrochen und ein akustisches
Signal ertönt (Dauerpiepston, siehe Abbildung
links)..
• Mechanische Überwachung des Druckes:
Bei einem Patientendruck im LAP-Mode von 55
bis 100mmHg öffnet das blaue Überdrucksicher-
heitsventil. Bei einem Patientendruck im ARTHRO-
Mode von 120 bis 180 mmHg öffnet das farblose
Überdrucksicherheitsventil. Im stromlosen Zustand
des Gerätes ist das Sicherheitsventil des LAP-
Modes zugeschaltet.
• Software monitoring of pressure in the Ar-
thro mode: If the patient pressure is >= 5 mmHg
above the set setpoint an acoustic signal (long
intermittent warning tone - as in the LAP mode,
see picture on left) sounds after a fixed time delay
of 3 s. If the gas flow is switched on, the ON/OFF
solenoid valve is also deactivated after 3 s. The
gas flow is thus interrupted.
The acoustic alarm cannot be deactivated here.
Remedy: See section above.
• Hardware monitoring of pressure: If the pa-
tient pressure is > 30 mmHg (LAP), >110 mmHg
(ARTHRO) when the gas flow is switched on the
ON/OFF solenoid valve is deactivated after a fixed
time delay (approx. 5 s). The gas flow is inter-
rupted and an acoustic signal sounds (continuous
beep, see picture on left).
• Mechanical monitoring of pressure: If the
patient pressure in the LAP mode is between 55
and 100 mmHg the blue overpressure safety valve
opens. If the patient pressure in the ARTHRO
mode is between 120 and 180 mmHg the uncol-
ored overpressure safety valves opens. When the
device is disconnected from the power supply, the
LAP mode safety valve is connected.
• Monitorización de la presión en el modo
Arthro por medio de software: Una señal acústica
suena en caso de una presión del paciente de >=

• Monitorización de la presión por medio de
hardware: En caso de una presión del paciente
de >30 mmHg (LAP), >110 mmHg (ARTHRO) y un
período fijo de retardo (aprox. 5 s), estando el flujo
de gas conectado se desactiva la válvula magnéti-
ca de CON./DESC. El flujo de gas se interrumpe y
suena una señal acústica (pitido permanente, véase
la ilustración a la izquierda).
• Monitorización de la presión por medios me-
cánicos: La válvula azul de descarga de seguridad
se abre en caso de una presión del paciente de 55
a 100 mmHg en el modo LAP. La válvula incolora
de descarga de seguridad se abre en caso de una
presión del paciente de 120 a 180 mmHg en el
modo ARTHRO. Estando el aparato sin corriente, la
válvula de seguridad del modo LAP está conectada
adicionalmente.
