6 Diving safety
6.1 Training
The ADV ca be used for both recreatio al a d tech ical divers. I both cases it is
assumed that divers have received ecessary certificatio from qualified boards. I a y
case, ADV use requires specific training that permits fully safe use, taki g full
adva tage of its pote tial. Do ot forget that the greatest risk is mai ly due to the
u derwater e viro me t where it is used.
6.2 Handling c nfigurati n and settings
The ADV is TOW BEHIND type (thus differe t from the so-called “ride o top” ki d) a d
thus ideal use requires the diver to be towed by the ADV by a tow cord (betwee the
scooter a d diver) or by holdi g o to the specific ha dles.
Warning. Restricti g the ADV to the diver i a way that is hard to u tie,
eve by other divers, is strictly prohibited. Quickly aba do i g the ADV
at a y time must be possible.
We highly suggest gloves (better if padded at least 3 mm thick) be wor
whe usi g the ADV. They preve t the diver from i serti g fi gers
betwee the propeller blades a d protect him agai st the surrou di g
e viro me t.
C rrect equipment settings are crucial to divi g safety a d become esse tial whe
divi g with the scooter. Ge erally, equipme t types a d positio s must guara tee perfect
water dy amics a d ot protrude or ha g from the scooter.
The diver’s p siti n should te d to be horizo tal duri g dives (setti gs a d floati g are
always the co seque ce of correct equipme t setti gs a d appropriate trai i g) for safety,
auto omy, scooter speed a d divi g comfort purposes.
Pay the utmost atte tio whe positio i g equipme t, especially
co cer i g: whips, valves, side ta ks, pressure gauges, co soles,
sire s, flashlights a d cables or reels, preve ti g them from ha gi g
a d thus comi g i to co tact with the propeller or accide tally catchi g
o the sea bed or compa io , creati g eve seriously hazard situatio s.

6.3 Hazard us area and residual risks
The propeller is protected by a flow co veyor a d releva t supports. However, it is
exposed o both the suctio a d expulsio sides. Additio al protectio s were ot i stalled
i these areas si ce they would sig ifica tly reduce fluid passage i the co duit, drastically
reduci g propulsio system performa ce.
Catching and cutting risk
Do ot i troduce a y object or body part i the flow co veyor i co tact
with rotati g propeller blades. Except for the ha d o the trigger, keep at
least 40 cm away from the propulsio group duri g use.
Above water, make sure the battery has bee removed before touchi g the propeller.
Back-lumbar injury risk
Above water, use cautio if the vehicle is ma ually lifted i i correct
positio s.
Crushing risk
Whe closi g the hull, be careful ot to place fi gers betwee the two
parts.
6.4 Safety device
There is a torque limiter betwee the e gi e group a d propeller. Whe the resista ce
applied to the propeller exceeds a certai wi di g mome t, it triggers preve ti g the
propeller from co ti ui g to rotate.
The device emits a rhythmic oise that immediately war s its triggeri g. As soo as this
situatio occurs, immediately release the trigger, tur off power usi g the mai switch a d
free the propeller from the foreig object.
Do ot co ti uously ru over 10 seco ds. The torque limiter is
desig ed for emerge cy use a d prolo ged ru i g could cause
damages.
If use co ditio s permit the foreig body to be removed from the propeller duri g the dive
i total safety, remove it. Otherwise, it is best to aba do the ADV a d recover it later.

I all tra sport situatio s, the scooter must always be fully closed.
The scooter was desig ed to be used i water e viro me ts, or u derwater. Whe it must
be tra sported i loaded o a car, please take the followi g precautio s give its shape
a d weight:
- lift it holdi g a flow co duit support a d fro t ha dle or, if preferred, o ly the fro t ha dle;
- duri g tra sport by car or boat, secure it so it does ot move.
We recomme d support code 90011 (see Suex accessories).
O a boat, ever place it at the bow or i a place where it is subject to jolts. This could
damage i ter al parts. Whe placi g the scooter o the grou d, always use delicacy a d,
whe vertically positio ed, rest it o the propeller co veyor: be careful to rest it o a flat
surface a d that othi g comes i to co tact with the propeller spi er.
If you prefer to hold the scooter by the ha dlebars, do so, but try ot to move them too
much si ce they were ot built to sustai excessive loads. Do ot support ADV weight by
the ha dlebar o ly.
8 Descripti n and perating principle

10 Tying the sc ter t the diver
The ADV 7 u derwater scooter has two ha dles the diver ca hold to be towed. However,
for the best use of this type of scooter, wear the supplied har ess with tow cord equipped
with quick release carabi eer (supplied).
The harness must be w rn s that is d es n t generate hazards during diving (f r
this reas n we str ngly suggest y u take a c urse held by a certified b ard) and the
t w c rd, secured t the sc ter, must be c nnected t the quick release
carabineer.
NOTE: bef re each dive, check that the quick release carabineer is
in g d w rking rder. T d this, pull the t w c rd taut between
the harness ring and sc t and pull n the white kn b. The
carabineer sh uld immediately pen and detach.
Defective quick release c uld create hazard us situati ns.
11 Setting regulati n
The ADV setti g must be NEUTRAL, mea i g either egative (su k) or positive

14 Precauti ns during sc ter use
14.1 Sc ter use in apnea
Usi g the scooter i ap ea gives you a u ique appreciatio of the
water e viro me t you’re visiti g a d exte d the route you could
ormally ru . However, the fact of bei g able to easily reach sig ifica t
depths you are ormally ot used to could be hazardous, with all the
risks tied to divi g beyo d your abilities.
14.2 Descent speed
The u derwater scooter permits high desce t speed. AVOID use to i crease it si ce this
i creases problems tied to compe satio a d psycho-physical acclimatizatio .
14.3 Ascent speed
The ADV MUST NOT BE USED FOR VERTICAL ASCENT. Its use i

14.4 Depth
NEVER EXCEED MAXIMUM PERATING DEPTH!!! In any case,
diving, especially at that depth, is an EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS
activity. INCORRECT ADV USE IN THESE ENVIRONMENTS
INCREASES DIVING RISKS.
14.5 Occluded envir nments
Divi g i these e viro me ts is, by itself, EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS.
INCORRECT ADV USE IN OCCLUDED ENVIRONMENTS
INCREASES DIVING RISKS. For example: hitti g valves, whe movi g
fast, could cause them to break with the releva t co seque ces.
DIVING IN THESE ENVIRONMENTS REQUIRES ADEQUATE
TRAINING COURSES HELD BY QUALIFIED BOARDS. Please ote
that ADV auto omy a d gas ma ageme t should be pla ed so that
each team member had DOUBLE the required resources. A spare ADV
must also be used.

sudde ly bli ded due to the silt lifted whe sedime t is moved. Divi g i
these e viro me ts is, i itself, EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS.
INCORRECT ADV USE IN MUDDY AND MURKY ENVIRONMENTS
COULD INCREASE DIVING RISKS.
THUS, THIS TYPE OF DIVING REQUIRES SUITABLE TRAINING
COURSES HELD BY QUALIFIED BOARDS.
For example: propeller moveme t faci g the bed could lift a sig ifica t
amou t of silt.
Accide tally starti g the spare ADV bei g towed could create seriously
hazardous situatio s.
14.7 ADV fl ding, sinking
This could occur especially due to improper use, i correct closi g or
i efficie t mai te a ce.
I the eve t of floodi g, the scooter will start to tilt dow ward a d thus
si k. I the eve t of total floodi g, the situatio could become
P TENTIALLY HAZARD US since the ADV will start to SINK,
DRAGGING THE DIVER D WN a d therefore the vehicle MUST BE
IMMEDIATELY ABAND NED.
15 General precauti ns
- D n t keep the ADV exp sed t sun, cl sed in a car in the sun r exp sed t
excessive heat (max 50°C). It c uld verheating, def rming, and c uplings may n
