Introduction and Overview
Welcome to the installation manual for the Tek-CARE®500 Wireless Emergency Call
System. TekTone®thanks you for purchasing our products and aims to provide the
best product support and service in the industry. This manual is designed to guide
you through the installation process of a Tek-CARE®
to contact our Technical Support Department by email at teksupt@tektone.net or by
phone at (800) 327-8466 or (828) 524-9967. Choose Option 3 for Technical Support.
The Tek-CARE®500 system is a versatile wireless emergency call system that offers a
wide range of device options to suit the needs of many types of care facilities. Available
system setup steps. See the following page for important installation and programming
notes. The Tek-CARE®500 system must be installed as outlined in this manual.
The Tek-CARE®500 system may be used as either a standalone emergency call system
using the Tek-BRIDGE®as the master station or it may be connected to a larger
TekTone®®400 or Tek-CARE®400P5 over the
TC400 Network.
With the addition of the LS601 Tek-ALERT®®500
®Integration Manager also
allows the Tek-CARE®500 system to display and log events from older analog TekTone®
nurse call systems such as the Tek-CARE®
thorough site survey using the NC500ESSK Site Survey Kit before beginning installation
of the Tek-CARE®500 system. A site survey helps determine exactly how many NC511ES

The Tek-CARE®500 system exists in three variants—a UL®2560-compliant system
ESFA)

Tek-CARE® Software
There are two main software components of the Tek-CARE®system—the

used mostly by facility staff to interact with the Tek-CARE®

Event Monitor

NC510UL Receiver: The NC510UL receiver connects directly to the Tek-BRIDGE®and
receives calls from wireless devices in the facility. The NC510UL receiver transfers
messages from ES and UL devices.

SF501/2ES Water Resistant Dual Button Pendant Call Transmitter: The dual button
pendant call transmitter is a water resistant device that includes both a belt clip and
reset button on the reverse side of the pendant transmitter. To place a call from the

NC502 PC-Alarm Panel: Interfaces between the Tek-BRIDGE®and a POTS line so that
alarms on the Tek-CARE®system can be transmitted to a central monitoring station.
NC365B Paging Transmitter:

Installation and Setup
Install the Tek-BRIDGE®
Set up the Tek-BRIDGE®
Before connecting any cables to the Tek-BRIDGE®, refer to Figure 8 on page 15 for
Tek-BRIDGE®wiring connections.
TekTone®recommends that the Tek-BRIDGE®be plugged into an uninterruptible power
supply (UPS) and dedicated life safety electrical circuit. If a UPS is required, a TekTone®
PK250B Uninterruptible Power Supply is recommended.
• Plug the AC power cord from the Tek-BRIDGE®into the UPS.
• Plug the AC power cord from the Tek-BRIDGE®monitor into the UPS.
• Connect the monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the Tek-BRIDGE®and turn both
the computer and monitor on.
The Tek-BRIDGE®is preprogrammed with a Windows®password. The default username
and password are as follows:
Username: tekbridge pc
Password: tektone
The default system password may be changed at any time by choosing Start>Control
Panel>User Accounts>TekBridge PC>Change my Password or Remove my
Password.

Connect Other TekTone®Systems
If the Tek-CARE®500 is to be connected to a Tek-CARE®400 System, refer to the Tek-
BRIDGE®port diagram in Figure 8 on page 15. Connect an Ethernet patch cable from
the port labeled PM451 on the rear of the Tek-BRIDGE®to either the PM451 Hub
Control Module in the Tek-CARE®400 CE or to the TC400 Network. Maximum wiring
distance is 100 meters.
Connect to the Facility’s LAN
The Tek-BRIDGE®must be connected to the facility’s local area network (LAN) if the
system will use any of the following functions:
• Install and use LS586 Remote Event Monitor software on facility PCs
• View and create custom reports using facility PCs
• Use the Email Output function to send automatic emails or text messages in

LAN Connection Procedure
Refer to Figure 8 on page 15 for Tek-BRIDGE®wiring connections. Connect the Tek-
BRIDGE®to the facility’s LAN using a standard Ethernet patch cable. The maximum
wire distance is 100 meters.
The Tek-BRIDGE®is equipped with three Ethernet ports, one for future system hardware
connections, a second for TC400 connection, and a third for the Facility LAN connection.
The settings for the Facility LAN port must match those of the host LAN. Contact the
facility’s IT department for any necessary system changes prior to connecting the Tek-
BRIDGE®to the facility LAN.
In order to set up system functions associated with the LAN connection, the IP address
of the Tek-BRIDGE®®, open
the Windows®Start Menu and choose Run. Type cmd into the search bar and press the
enter key. When the command prompt window appears, type and press the
the IP address that will identify the Tek-BRIDGE®when it is connected to the facility LAN.
