Grounding the Product

trol . In the digital torage mode, up to three waveform
et (CH 1 and/or CH 2) may be tored in a SAVE REF
memory and recalled for di play at a later time. The verti
cal y tem provide calibrated deflection factor from
2 mV per divi ion to 5 V per divi ion. The horizontal y 
tem provide calibrated weep peed from 50 n per divi
ion to 0.5 per divi ion for non torage mode with three
lower weep peed (1 , 2 , and 5 per divi ion) added
for tore mode operation. A XI0 magnifier extend the
maximum weep peed to 5 n per divi ion.
The digital torage ampling rate i 20 mega ample
per econd maximum, and the acquired record length i
4K ample (IK may al o be elected) for a ingle channel
or 2K ample for dual-channel (CHOP or ALT) di play .
Any contiguou IK ample of an acquired record i
di playable. The fa t ampling rate can capture a glitch
with a pul e width of at lea t 100 n . A 4K compre
feature enable a 4K record length acqui ition to be
compre ed to IK in length for ea e in viewing or toring
in the SAVE REF memory. If compre ion i not de ired,
all 4K or any IK portion of a 4K record may be tored in
the SAVE REF memory. The SAVE tore mode top the
waveform acqui ition in progre , allowing a particular
di play to be tored or examined before further acqui i
tion cau e a waveform update.

ment on any of the tore mode waveform di play . Delta
volt , delay time, delta time, and 1/delta time (either delta
time or 1/delta time i electable via the MENU) are

SPECIFICATION

urement mu t be rounded or truncated. The ize of the
truncation or rounding become a part of the mea ure
ment error. For example, the following line i 1.5 unit
long. If it mu t be drawn a a line connecting point one
unit apart, then it may be drawn a a line one unit long or
two unit long, depending on how it occur relative to the
point .

There are everal place where mea urement are
quantified, and a one-count error in the mea urement can
not be detected. The input channel are digitized to an 8-
bit re olution, where one divi ion i (ignoring expan ion
and compre ion) 25 count . Thi mean there i an
inherent error of 1/25 of a divi ion in any voltage mea ure
ment at acqui ition time. Averaging can increa e the re o
lution of a voltage mea urement above the ampler'
eight-bit limit. To u e the increa ed re olution, the di play
ha a 10-bit dynamic range in the vertical axi , a well a
the horizontal axi . An averaged ignal ha a re olution of
100 point per divi ion (ignoring expan ion and compre 
ion). In addition, the averaged number i tored with up
to twelve bit of re olution. Expan ion i required to view
the eleventh and twelfth bit of increa ed re olution.
Time i quantified to determine when each ample
occurred and which di play interval get each ample.
Time i re olved by toring, for example, 4K point . If 4K
point are tored, 4K time interval are repre ented. How
ever, in 4K mode, not ail of the 4K-point re olution may be
di played on the 10-bit (IK-point) creen. Therefore, if 4K
COMPRESS i elected to pre ent the whole picture on
creen at once, only IK re olution remain in the di play.
When peak-detected information i acquired, event with
high-frequency content uch a fa t tep , or hort pul e ,
can only be located within the time interval from which the
peak came. Even though two di play point re ult from
the interval, the event cannot be tied with certainty to the
fir t or econd point in the interval.
Time i al o quantified to determine where to put point
in REPETITIVE; acqui ition , where the point acquired at
50 n interval fill only part of the creen. A counting
device producer a number to repre ent the portion of
50 n between the ample acquired and the one that
would have included the trigger. Thi number range from
0 to about 205, which allow accurate placement into the
di play record. The di play record will have at mo t 100
lot to choo e from on the ba i of the 0-205 number
(thi i where each lot repre ent 0.5 n of acqui ition
time, and the counter’ re olution i about 0.244 n per
count).
