Using your audio system—
—Some basics
This section describes some of the basic
features on Toyota audio systems. Some
information may not pertain to your
system.
Your audio system works when the ignition
key is in the “ACC” or “ON” position.
TURNING THE SYSTEM ON AND OFF
Push “PWR·VOL” to turn the audio system
on and off.
Push “AM”, “FM1”, “FM2”, “FM”, “SAT”,
“TAPE” or “DISC” to turn on that function
without pushing “PWR·VOL”.
You can turn on each player by inserting
a cassette tape or compact disc.
You can turn off each player by ejecting
the cassette tape or compact disc. If the
audio system was previously off, then the
entire audio system will be turned off when
you eject the cassette tape or compact
disc. If the another function was previously
playing, it will come on again.
SWITCHING BETWEEN FUNCTIONS
Push “AM”, “FM1”, “FM2”, “FM”, “SAT”,
“TAPE” or “DISC” if the system is already
on but you want to switch from one
function to another.
LISTENING TO THE SIRIUS SATELLITE
RADIO* BROADCAST (type 2)
To listen to a satellite radio broadcast in
your vehicle, an additional satellite receiver
and antenna (or equivalents) must be
purchased and installed. A subscription to
SIRIUS Satellite Radio service is also
necessary.
How to subscribe to SIRIUS Satellite
Radio
ASIRIUS Satellite Radio is a tuner
designed exclusively to receive broadcasts
provided under a separate subscription.
Availability is limited to the 48 contiguous
states.
You must enter into a separate service
agreement with SIRIUS in order to receive
satellite broadcast programming in the
vehicle. Additional activation and service
subscription fees apply that are not includ-
ed in the purchase price of the vehicle and
optional digital satellite tuner. For com-
plete information on subscription rates and
terms, or to subscribe to SIRIUS Satellite
Radio call SIRIUS’ Customer Care 24/7 at
1-888-539-SIRIUS (7474). SIRIUS Satellite
Radio is solely responsible for the quality,
availability and content of the satellite
radio services provided, which are subject
to SIRIUS’ standard Terms and Conditions.
How to activate:
To activate SIRIUS, find your 12-digit
SIRIUS ID (SID) by selecting the SAT
button and tuning to channel 255. Make
sure your vehicle is outdoors under the
open sky. The SID is displayed as two
separate 8-digit and 4-digit numbers.
Pressing the TEXT button on your radio
can access these. Call SIRIUS at
1-888-539-SIRIUS (7474). The SIRIUS
representative will ask you for your
SID and major credit card or debit card
information.
All fees and programming are the respon-
sibility of SIRIUS Satellite Radio and are
subject to change.

3 Type 2
Details of specific buttons, controls and
features related to operating SIRIUS are
described in the list that follows.
1 2 3 4 5 6 (Preset buttons)
These buttons are used to preset and tune
in radio channels.
To preset a channel to a button: Tune in the
desired channel. (See “SEEK/TRACK”.)
Push and hold down the button until you
hear a beep—this will set the channel to
the button. The preset button number will
appear on the display.
To recall a preset channel: Push the button
for the channel you want. The preset
button number and channel number will
appear on the display.
This radio can store three SIRIUS
channels for each button. (The display will
show “SAT1”, “SAT2” or “SAT3” when you
push “SAT” button.)
SAT* (Satellite radio)
Push the “SAT” button to turn on the radio
and select the SIRIUS band. “SAT1”,
“SAT2” or “SAT3” will appear on the
display. This system allows you to set
eighteen SIRIUS channels, three for each
of the preset button.

AM·FM radio/cassette player/compact disc player with changer
(with SIRIUS Satellite Radio* controller)

Error messages
If the satellite radio tuner malfunctions or if
there is a change in the SIRIUS* broad-
cast, your audio system will display one of
the nine following messages.
“UPDATING”
This will show whenever a new channel
lineup or subscription change is received
from a SIRIUS broadcast. Audio will mute
during this update period.
“UPDATED”
The unit has just acquired new channel or
subscription information from SIRIUS.
“Updated” will flash for 10 seconds and
clear. A tune up or down, will allow audio to
be heard once again.
“ANTENNA”
•The SIRIUS antenna is not connected.
Check whether the SIRIUS antenna
cable is attached securely.
•Ashort-circuit occurs in the antenna or
the surrounding antenna cable. See a
Toyota certified dealer.
“NO SIGNAL”
The SIRIUS signal is too weak at the
current location. Wait until your vehicle
reaches a location with a stronger signal.
“DEACTVTD”
This will show when the receiver has been
deactivated in place of the channel name.
“GOTO 255”
This message will show in place of category
type whenever tuned to CH 0. The user
should tune to channel 255 to show the
12-character SIRIUS ID (SID) number,
also known as the Electronic Serial
Number (ESN) or Radio ID.
“SIRIUSID”
This text will show in place of channel name
and also category name whenever tuned to
channel 255. Channel 255 shows the
Electronic Serial Number (ESN). 8 ESN
characters are shown in the title field and
4 in the name field.
“– – – –”
There is no song/program title or artist
name/feature associated with the channel
at that time. No action needed.
“– –”
The channel you selected is no longer
available. Wait for about two seconds until
the radio returns to the previous channel
or The Preview Channel // 184. If it does
not change automatically, select another
channel.
SIRIUS’ Customer Care is also available
24/7 at 1-888-539-SIRIUS (7474).
*: Use of the satellite radio requires a
SIRIUS tuner and service. Contact your
Toyota dealer for details.
SCAN BUTTON
You can either scan the currently selected
channel category or scan only the preset
channels for that band.
To scan the preset channels: Push and
hold the “SCAN” button until you hear a
beep. “SCAN” appears on the display. The
radio will tune in the next preset channel
up the band, stay there for 5 seconds, and
then move to the next preset channel. To
stop scanning, push this button again.
To scan the currently selected channel
category: Quickly push and release the
“SCAN” button. “SCAN” appears on the
display. The radio will find the next chan-
nel in the same channel category up the
band, stay there for 5 seconds, and then
scan again. To stop scanning, push this
button again.

NOTICE
◆If a channel becomes invalid due
to a subscription or channel line-
up change, the SIRIUS call mes-
sage will show on that channel. If
that invalid channel is accessed
via a preset, the preset will then
revert to The Preview Channel // 184.
◆All presets will default to The
Preview Channel // 184 in case of
battery disconnect/reconnect.

SEEK/TRACK BUTTON
To select the next channel within the
current channel category, push the “ ” or
“ ” side of the “SEEK/TRACK” button.
Repeat until a desired channel is found.
TEXT BUTTON
When you push the “TEXT” button, the
display changes as follows: CH NAME →
TITLE (SONG/PROGRAM TITLE) →
NAME (ARTIST NAME/FEATURE) → CH
NUMBER
→ CH NAME
Up to 10 alphanumeric characters can be
displayed. (Some information will not be
fully displayed.)
The message display will be canceled if
any button that affects the display is
pushed.
If there is no song/program title or artist
name/feature associated with the channel
at that time, “– – – –” will appear on the
display.
This SIRIUS tuner supports “Audio
Services” (Music and Talk) of SIRIUS
Satellite Radio and “Text Information”*2
linked - to the respective audio services.
TUNE BUTTON
Turn the “TUNE” knob clockwise to step
up the channel. Turn the knob counter-
clockwise to step down the channel.
TYPE BUTTON
When you push the “ ” or “ ” side of the
“TYPE” button while receiving a SIRIUS
channel, the current channel category
appears on the display.
When the channel category appears, push
either “ ” or “ ” side of the “TYPE”
button to switch to the next or previous
category.
Audio remote controls
(steering switches)
Some parts of the audio system can be
adjusted using the switches on the
steering wheel.
Details of the specific switches, controls,
and features are described below.
“- +” switches:
Push “+” side to increase the volume. The
volume continues to increase while the
switch is being pushed.
Push “–” side to decrease the volume. The
volume continues to decrease while the
switch is being pushed.
“”
Switch:
To select a preset channel, push the “ ”
or “ ” side of the switch. Repeat until a
desired channel is found.
*1: Use of the satellite radio requires a
SIRIUS tuner and service. Contact
your Toyota dealer for details.
*2: Text Information includes, Channel
Name, (Artist) Name, (Song) Title and
Category Name.
