Introduction
The 24 10/100TX plus 2 Mini-GBIC/Coppe managed PoE switch is a multi-po t Switch
that can be used to build high-pe fo mance switched wo kg oup netwo ks. This switch
is a sto e-and-fo wa d device that offe s low latency fo high-speed netwo king and
allows the switch to auto-lea n and sto e sou ce add ess in an 8K-ent y MAC add ess
table. The switch is ta geted at wo kg oup, depa tment o backbone computing
envi onment.
The 24 10/100TX plus 2 Mini-GBIC/Coppe managed PoE switch has 24x
auto-sensing 10/100Base-TX RJ-45 po ts and all po ts suppo t PoE injecto function.
The switch has 2 auto-detected Giga po t fo highe connection speed. Also, the switch
p ovides one ext a 48V

Hardware Description
This chapte mainly desc ibes the ha dwa e of the 24 10/100TX plus 2
Mini-GBIC/Coppe managed PoE switch and gives a physical and functional ove view
on the ce tain switch.
Physical Dimension
The physical dimension of 24 10/100TX plus 2 Mini-GBIC/Coppe managed PoE
switch is 440mmx 280mm x 44mm (W x D x H)
Front Panel
The f ont panel of the 24 10/100TX plus 2 Mini-GBIC/Coppe managed PoE switch
consists of 24x 10/100Base-TX RJ-45 po ts (Auto MDI/MDIX), 2 auto-detected Gigabit
Coppe /Mini-GBIC po ts, and one console po t. The LED Indicato s a e also located on
the f ont panel of the Switch.
F ont panel of the 24 10/100TX plus 2 Mini-GBIC/Coppe managed PoE switch
 RJ-45 Ports (Auto MDI/MDIX): 24x 10/100 N-way auto-sensing fo 10Base-T o
100Base-TX connections.
In gene al, MDI means connecting to anothe Hub o Switch while MDIX means
connecting to a wo kstation o PC. The efo e, Auto MDI/MDIX would allow
connecting to anothe Switch o wo kstation without changing non-c ossove o

 2 Giga port: T aditional RJ-45 po ts can be used fo uplinking wide-band paths in

used fo the application of wideband uplinking and long distance t ansmissions to
fit the field equest flexibly.
LED Indicators
The LED indicato s display a eal-time indication of systematic ope ation status. The e
a e th ee LED-Indicato s (Link/Activity, Full duplex, powe fo wa ding) fo each UTP
po t and one powe LED fo the system unit. The following table p ovides desc iptions

Rear Panel
The two fans, two console po ts, and the 3-p onged powe plugs a e located at the ea
panel of 24 10/100TX plus 2 Mini-GBIC/Coppe managed PoE switch shown as below.
The switch also p ovides one DC 48V input fo the ext a powe connection and one DC
48V inte nal powe supply fo the powe edundant. The two-console po ts a e fo
connecting with UPS device to manage UPS device o connect with the powe supply
device fo managing it.

Desktop Installation
Set the switch on a sufficiently la ge flat space with a powe outlet nea by. The su face
whe e you put you switch should be clean, smooth, level and stu dy. Make su e the e
is enough clea ance a ound the switch to allow attachment of cables, powe co d and
allow ai ci culation.
Attaching Rubber Pads
1. Make su e mounting su face on the bottom of the switch is g ease and dust f ee.

2. Remove adhesive backing f om the Rubbe Pads.
3. Apply the Rubbe Pads to each co ne on the bottom of the switch. These
footpads can p event the switch f om shock/vib ation.
Rack-mounted Installation
The switch come with a ack-mounted kit and can be mounted in an EIA standa d size,
19-inch Rack. The switch can be placed in a wi ing closet with othe equipment.
Pe fo m the following steps to ack mount the switch:
1. Position one b acket to align with the holes on one side of the switch and secu e it
with the smalle b acket sc ews. Then attach the emaining b acket to the othe
side of the switch.
2. Afte attaching both mounting b ackets, position the 24 10/100TX plus 2
Mini-GBIC/Coppe managed PoE switch in the ack by lining up the holes in the
b ackets with the app op iate holes on the ack. Secu e the switch to the ack with
a sc ewd ive and the ack-mounting sc ews.
[Note] Fo p ope ventilation, allow about at least 4 inches (10 cm) of clea ance on
the f ont and 3.4 inches (8 cm) on the back of the switch. This is especially
impo tant fo enclosed ack installation.
Power On
Connect the powe co d to the powe socket on the ea panel of the switch. The othe
side of powe co d connects to the powe outlet. The inte nal powe supply of the
Switch wo ks with AC voltage ange of 100-240V and F equency of 50~60Hz. Check
the powe indicato on the f ont panel to see if powe is p ope ly supplied.

Network Application
This section p ovides a few samples of netwo k topology in which the switch is used. In
gene al, the 24 10/100TX plus 2 Mini-GBIC/Coppe managed PoE switch with its la ge
add ess table (8K MAC add ess) and high pe fo mance a e ideal fo inte connecting
netwo king segments.
PC, wo kstations, and se ve s can communicate each othe by di ectly connecting with
24 10/100TX plus 2 Mini-GBIC/Coppe managed PoE switch. The switch automatically
lea ns node add esses, which a e subsequently used to filte and fo wa d all t affic
based on the destination add ess.
24 10/100TX plus 2 Mini-GBIC/Coppe managed PoE switch p ovides PoE injecto
function on eve y Ethe net po t which can p ovide the powe to the PD device, such as
AP o switch. It can solve the p oblem of the PD device position limitation of powe
supply.
Using Uplink po t, the Switch can connect with anothe switch o hub to inte connect
othe small-switched wo kg oups to fo m a la ge switched netwo k. Meanwhile, you
can also use fibe po ts to connect switches.
Small Workgroup
24 10/100TX plus 2 Mini-GBIC/Coppe managed PoE switch can be used as a
standalone switch to which pe sonal compute s, se ve , p inte se ve , a e di ectly
connected to fo m a small wo kg oup.

switch is an ideal solution fo depa tment use s to connect to the co po ate backbone.
In the illust ation below, two managed PoE switches with PCs, p int se ve , local se ve ,
wi eless AP (IEEE 802.3af compliant), and IP came a (IEEE 802.3af compliant)
attached a e both connect to the co e switch. All the devices in this netwo k can
communicate with each othe th ough the co e switch.

DC Power Input
The 24 10/100TX plus 2 Mini-GBIC/Coppe managed PoE switch has a DC 48V powe
input fo the ext a powe supply connection. The DC 48V powe input can be used as a
powe backup when the AC powe is down o no AC powe supply in the installation.
The AC powe and the DC 48V powe can be connected at the same time, but the
switch will use the DC 48V as the maste powe input and the AC powe as the
seconda y o backup powe input. The following figu es a e example of the application.
In the figu e, the DC 48V powe input connects with the powe supply device and
th ough the RS-232 connection to manage the powe supply device.
