Chapter 1: Instruction
1.1 - Overview
This Dual Port GbE NIC card P1103/P1103B based on Broadcom dual port
GbE transceiver, is a generic of 4 x PCI-E 1.1 card providing 2 GbE copper
interfaces with RJ45 connectors.
P1103/P1103B has a cut through option which provides LAN1 to LAN 2 cutting
through when system power down or is controlled by system software.

1.2 - Product Features
P1103/P1103B offers the following features:
zTriple speed 1000Mbps (1000Base-T), 100 Mbps (100Base-Tx) and 10
Mbps (10Base-T) operation.
zNway auto negotiation automatic sensing and switching between 1Gbps full
duplex and 100/10 Mbps operations half duplex or Full Duplex.
zHost Interface standard support
zHost Interface PCI-Express 4X Lane (Version 1.0a).
zHigh performance, reliability, and low power use in Broadcom 5715 /5714 /
5704 dual integrated MAC + PHY and SERDES chip controller.
zHardware acceleration that can offload tasks from the host processor. The
controllers can offload TCP/UDP/IP checksum calculations and TCP
segmentation.
zJumbo Frame (9KB).
z802. X flow control.
zStatistics for SNMP
zRJ-45 female connectors.
zLEDs indicators for link/Activity/Bypass Mode status.
zPriority queuing-802.1p layer 2 priority encoding.
zVirtual LANs-802.1q VLAN tagging.
zIndependently copper Gigabit Ethernet channels support two Gigabit
Ethernets (1000Base-T)/Fast Ethernet (100Base-Tx)/Ethernet (10Base-T).
zUltra deep, 64 KB packet buffer per channel lowers CPU utilization.

P1103B also offers the following Bypass functions:
zBypass Ethernet ports on Power Fail, System Hangs or Software Application
Hangs.
zSoftware programmable Bypass or Normal or Disconnect Mode.
zOn Board Watch Dog Timer Controller.
zSoftware programmable time out interval.
zSoftware Programmable WDT Enable / Disable.
zProgrammable state (Bypass mode or Normal mode or Disconnect mode) at
Power down (S5) or Power up or Driver load.
zEmulates standard NIC
zIndependent Bypass operation in every two ports.

2.3 - Tips on Installing P1103/P1103B in Chassis
Before installation, do the following:
9Power down the system.
9Remove the power cord from the wall socket.
9Use industry standard anti-static equipment (such as gloves or wrist
strap) and/or an environment that prevents accidental electrostatic
discharge.
9Familiarize yourself with the server, motherboard, and/or chassis
documentation.
9Confirm that your operating system includes the latest updates and
hotfixes.
To install the add-on card, do the following:
A. Remove the chassis cover and, if necessary, set aside any screws for
later use.
B. Remove the add-on card slot cover.
If the case requires a screw, place
the screw aside for later use.
C. Position the add-on card in the slot
directly over the connector and
gently push down on both sides of
the card until it slides into the PCI
connector.
D. Secure the add-on card to
the chassis. If required, use
the screw that you previously
removed.
E. Replace the chassis cover.
Plug the power cord into the
wall socket and power up the
system.

Appendix: P1103B Bypass Function
Introduction
ByPass program is a user interface designed for the adapter that allows
taking full control of the various ByPass features. User can control and
manage the mode of the adapter. The ByPass program can bypass its
Ethernet ports on a host system failure, power off, or upon software request
to ensure the Ethernet through. Also it can be applied to different OS platform.
ByPass program for windows OS is GUI based and ByPass program for
Linux OS is command line based. This manual introduces you how to install
and run the ByPass program.
Installing ByPass Program
You need to perform the required installation first.
Note:
ByPass program can support Windows 2003 R2 x86/x64,
RHEL 5.3 x86/x64, Cent OS 5.2 x64, Cent OS 5.3 x86/x64,
SLES 10 SP2 x64 and SLES 11 SP2 x86/x64.

¾Installation on Windows 2003 R2 x86/x64
A network device driver must be installed before the ByPass Adapter can be
used with your Windows 2003 system.
To install the adapter software for Windows 2003, do the following.
1. First run ByPass-Win2003-V1.00.exe to install the ByPass program. The
default path is C:\Program Files\Mitac_ByPass, and you can select another
path to install.

2. A Security Alert-Driver Installation window will pop-up, click Yes.

3. When the ByPass Service window pops up, install the ByPass service. In
the completion window, click ok to restart your computer. Then you will
find a shortcut of ByPassUI.exe on your Desktop.

1. Click Start > Setting > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
2. Click ByPass-V1.00 > Change/Remove.

This property represents the number of the NIC card on your computer.

State On Driver Load
Use this property to set the state of NIC card on driver load. Choose one from
three options and click Submit to set the state of device.
Normal - driver switches device to ordinary NIC.
Disconnect - driver switches device to Disconnect.
ByPass - driver switches device to ByPass.

State On Power On
Use this property to set the state of NIC card on Power On. Choose one from
three options and click Submit to set the state of device.
Normal - device works as ordinary NIC when system power on.
Disconnect - device switches to Disconnect state when system power on.
ByPass - device switches to Disconnect state when system power on.
