Commissioning
SSK 2.5 | Version 1.08 9
8 Commissioning
In order to meet the most varied requirements, va-
rious settings must be made before the operation for
the trouble-free operation of the sand blasting cabin.
Proper functioning depends on various factors. On the
one hand, a clean and dry blasting medium and free li-
nes are an important prerequisite (operating pressure as
in the technical data). On the other hand, it depends on
which workpieces are to be processed with which abra-
sive, because each workpiece and abrasive has other
properties (hardness, grain size, weight, aggressive-
ness). The blasting media (e.g., normal, mixed, noble
corundum, crushed slag, glass beads, blasting balls,
etc.) are offered in various grain sizes.
It follows that the sandblast cabin has to be adjusted
individually depending on the type and requirement.
Adjustment of the amount of blast feed
The amount of blasting material feed, consisting of the
negative pressure flowing through the screw [Pos. 38] air
and the blasting agent used, is adjustable on the mete-
ring valve [Pos. 13].
WARNING!
anger of life!
There is danger to your life if you do not follow these
rules.
- Never work on the blast cabinet if you are under the
influence of alcohol, drugs or medicines and / or
you are overtired or suffer from concentration-im-
pairing illnesses..
- The sandblasting cabin may only be operated by
one person. Other persons must keep away from
the work area during operation.
ATTENTION! HEALTH HAZAR
Inhalation of abrasive material and abrasion can
cause lung damage from fumed silica! Possible for-
mation of a silicosis. Information on this
https//de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silikose
Particularly hazardous is the inhalation of substances
with particle sizes below 5 µm!
Never use abrasives with smaller particle sizes than
0,12 mm and make sure the cab is absolutely tight.
Wear respiratory protection.
Use ear protection!
During operation, a noise level of over 85 dB (A) may
occur. From 85 dB (A), ear protection must be worn!
Use safety goggles!
Use respiratory protection!
Sicherheitsschuhe tragen!
Use protective clothing!
NOTE!
Before using the sand blasting cabin for the first time,
carry out the following points.
- Check all screw connections on the installed sand-
blast cabinets and tighten them if necessary.
- Check the sand blasting cabin for leaks.
- Check the function of the door monitoring. When
opening the cabin doors during operation, the sand-
blasting booth switches off automatically.
ATTENTION!
The sandblasting gun must always be directed away
from the operator. Never work with the sandblasting
cabin door open.
ATTENTION!
Never use sand as abrasive.
ATTENTION!
The workpiece must be clean and dry
NOTE!
The distance of the blasting gun to the object plays an
essential role and should not exceed 20 cm.

10 SSK 2.5 | Version 1.08
Care, maintenance and overhaul
It must be conveyed fluidly and without interruption, so
that the blasting material can not accumulate in the hose.
If the hose is blocked, turn up the screw [Pos.38]
slightly. Then perform a test blast to check the function.
Fig. 5: Valve Pos. 13
Adjustment of the blowgun
The generated negative pressure in the blow gun can be
determined by the depth of engagement of the compo-
nent [Pos. 7] . To do this, lock the nut [Pos. 5] and, if
necessary, disconnect the air pressure connection [Pos.
8].
Fig. 6: Blasting gun
Both settings are interdependent!
You should always try several settings to get the
best results.
Here are two examples and their effects:
- too deeply screwed in component [pos. 7] (small di-
stance inside to the nozzle): too little negative
pressure and thus also little abrasive
- too far back turned component [pos.7] (large di-
stance inside to the nozzle): no negative pressure
is generated, but blown into the blasting medium
line -> pressure build-up
Step 1: Select a suitable blasting medium and fill in the
sandblast booth.
Step 2: The workpiece must be free of oil, grease and
moisture. If necessary, clean the workpiece be-
fore placing it in the blast cabinet.
Step 3: Set the desired working pressure at the com-
pressed air supply (compressor). Make sure
that the maximum pressure is not exceeded!
Adjust according to the sensitivity of the mate-
rial according to lower working pressure.
Step 4: Connect the sandblast booth to the compres-
sed air source.
Step 5: Place the workpiece to be machined in the blast
cabinet, close the door and turn on the blast
cabinet lighting.
Step 6: Use the integrated protective gloves to hold the
sand blasting gun and the workpiece and start
sandblasting. Hold the sand blasting gun at an
angle of 45 ° to 60 ° to the workpiece,
the abra-
sive should be blown from the workpiece against
the back wall of the sandblast cabine.Use the
pedal to dose the blasting agent addition.
Attention:
When opening the cabin doors during
operation, the sandblasting booth switches off au-
tomatically.
Step 7: After finishing work, disconnect the tool from
the compressed air source and remove the
workpiece.Pflege, Wartung und Instandset-
zung
9 Care, maintenance and overhaul
NOTE!
The setting of the jet supply described above influen-
ces the subsequent adjustment of the blow gun.
NOTE!
There are no general guidelines for these settings.
Optimal values must be obtained by testing, depen-
ding on the blasting media
ATTENTION!
Disconnect the tool from the compressed air supply
and the sandblasting booth from the mains before
carrying out any maintenance, servicing or cleaning
work. Maintenance and repair work may only be car-
ried out by qualified personnel.
