1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The intercom interface Ref. 1083/87 allows connecting a 2Voice system to a PBX analogue extension input
or to a PSTN analogue telephone line. With this device it is possible to manage a door phone call from a
call station directly from a telephone. Using DTMF codes, it is possible to: answer an audio door phone call,
open the door, open the driveway and send activation codes to a special decoder.
It is recommended to check the compatibility of the telephone operating parameters of the telephone
devices you wish to connect to the intercom interface Ref. 1083/87 (voltages, beeps, etc.).

3. WARNINGS FOR INSTALLERS
Read the notes in this manual carefully. This manual contains important information on safe installation, use
and maintenance.
• This devices must only be put to the use for which they were intended.
• Each part was designed to be compliant with the standards in force. All other use is improper. The
manufacturer cannot be held responsible for damage deriving from improper, incorrect or unreasonable
use.
• The system must be built in compliance with the regulations in force. All devices in the system must be
exclusively used for the purpose for which they were designed.

• Make sure that the plate data corresponds to the power specications before connecting the devices to
the mains.
• Provide a suitable cut-o and protection master switch upstream from the devices, with contacts open
by at least 3 mm.
• Do not t the device in environments exposed to the rain or to moisture. In these cases, use the specic
boxes.
• Do not obstruct openings, ventilation or heat vents. Provide suitable ventilation.
• Make sure the device is intact after unpacking it.
• Keep packaging (plastic bags, polystyrene foam, etc.) out of children’ reach. They are potentially
hazardous.
• Maintenance must be entrusted to qualied personnel. The personnel is to be considered qualied,
according to the legislation in force in the country of installation.
• Power the device down by means of the circuit breaker in the event of failures and/or bad operation. Do
not tamper with the device.
• Let repairs be done by a service centre authorised by the manufacturer only.
• Exclusively use the spare parts supplied by the manufacturer for repairs.
•Disconnect the devices from the mains before cleaning or maintenance. Do not use spray products to
clean the device.
• In the event of liquid or other material in ltration inside the device, entrust the device to quali ed
personnel who will check it and repair it if required.
• Installers must make sure that user’s information is applied to the connected devices.
• Disrespect of these precautions can eect safety of the devices.
• Keep this manual with the device at all times.
4. INSTALLATION
WARNING! When calculating the maximum number of devices that can be installed in a column, it
should be considered that each intercom interface is equivalent to 2 apartment stations.
The intercom interface is always congured as if it were the Master apartment station, i.e. ID/code of
the apartment extension equal to 0.
The device must be installed by qualied personnel in accordance with national installation regulations.
The device must be installed inside an electrical cabinet at a height of less than 2 m and accessible only to
qualied personnel.
• Install the device on the DIN rail as indicated in the following drawing.

• Program the dip-switches and connect the system conductors to the terminal blocks.
• Power up the system.

4.2. DIP-SWITCH SEQ APT
They make it possible to dene the number of additional user codes (in addition to the one congured with
the column address by the CODE dip-switches) that will be paired with the intercom interface.
WARNING! Additional user codes can be a maximum of 3 and will be consecutive user codes to that set
on the CODE dip-switches.
For example, if user code 20 has been congured on the CODE dip-switches, the use of the intercom
interface can also be extended to user codes 21, 22 and 23, so that up to 4 separate users can be managed.
The table below shows the example described above.

4.3. INSTALLATION LIMITATIONS
Using the intercom interface Ref. 1083/87, the following installation restrictions must be observed:
• Single-column system with 1083/20A or /23 power supply.
• Maximum 50 users in column.
• Maximum 5 intercom interfaces Ref.1083/87 in the system.
• The following devices must not be installed in the system:
– Slave door phones in apartments managed by the intercom interface Ref. 1083/87.
– Concierge switchboards Ref. 1083/4X.
– Column interfaces Ref. 1083/50 or column distributors 1083/53.
– External station interfaces Ref. 1083/75.
– Expansion modules for external stations Ref. 1083/76.
– Multi-user call forwarding device Ref. 1083/83.
– Call forwarding devices Ref. 1083/58A in apartments managed by the intercom interface
Ref. 1083/87.
4.4. PAIRING THE USER CODE AND THE EXTENSION NUMBER
OR PUBLIC NETWORK NUMBER
The intercom interface associates each user code with either an extension number (if the interface is
connected to a PBX) or a public network number to which calls can be forwarded.
DEFAULT PAIRING
If the device is connected to a PBX extension, by default the user code set on the CODE dip-switches is
associated with extension number 41 on the PBX. Consequently, if the intercom interface is congured to
also be used on the 3 user codes consecutive to the one set on the CODE dip-switches, by default the user
codes will be associated to extension numbers 42, 43 and 44 on the PBX.
If the device is connected directly to the PSTN line, pairing between the user code and the public network
number must be dened.
To change pairing of the user code with the PBX extension number or public network number, follow the
procedures below:
PAIRING OF USER CODE WITH PBX EXTENSION NUMBERS
1. Via a PBX extension call the extension number corresponding to the intercom interface to which it is
connected.
2. Wait for the call to ring (1 ring by default or the number of rings set in the parameter described in Chap.
“Number of rings before a telephone call is answered”) and the next 3 short answer beeps of the
interface.
3. Dial 888 on the telephone device (default password) to access the programming mode of the intercom
interface.
4. Then enter code 28. The following code allows the conguration of extension numbers on the intercom
interface.
5. Enter a number from 1 to 4 to select the user code with which to associate an extension number.
For example, type 1 to associate a PBX extension number with the rst user code using the
intercom interface (for more details on user code and extension association, refer to chap. “Dip-
switch seq apt”).
6. Enter a PBX extension number (e.g. 46).
Each telephone number can consist of up to 16 digits, and each digit can be a number from 0 to
9 or one of the special characters ‘*’ or ‘#’.
After dialling at least one number, if more than 5 seconds elapse since the last digit dialled, the intercom
interface will consider the dialling to be completed.
7. If programming was successful, 3 short conrmation beeps are emitted on the telephone device.
If programming was not successful, two beeps are emitted, one short and one long, in which case the
conguration must be repeated.

PAIRING OF USER CODE WITH PUBLIC NETWORK NUMBER
1. Using a telephone device, call the public network telephone number associated with the PSTN line to
which the intercom interface is connected.
WARNING! It is not possible to programme the intercom interface via an analogue telephone
connected in parallel to the PSTN line.
For example, if the intercom interface is connected to the public network number “0111234567”,
it is necessary to call the number from another line, e.g. from a mobile phone.
2. Wait for the call ring (1 ring by default or the number of rings set in the parameter described in section
6.3) and the next 3 short answer beeps from the interface.
3. Dial 888 on the telephone device (default password) to access the programming mode of the intercom
interface.
4. Then enter code 28. The following code enables the conguration of the public network number on the
intercom interface.
5. Enter a number from 1 to 4 to select the user code with which to associate a public network number.
For example, enter 1 to associate a public network number with the rst user code using the
intercom interface (for more details on user code and derivative association, refer to chap. Dip-
switch seq apt”).
6. Enter the telephone number where door phone calls will be forwarded.
Each telephone number can consist of up to 16 digits, each digit can be between 0 and 9 or the
special characters ‘*’ and ‘#’.
After dialling at least one number, if more than 5 seconds elapse since the last digit dialled, the intercom
interface will consider the dialling to be completed.
7. If programming was successful, 3 short conrmation beeps are emitted on the telephone device.
If the programming was not successful, two beeps are emitted, one short and one long, in which case

5. DOOR PHONE FUNCTIONS
The command codes for activating door phone functions via the intercom interface are described below.
After entering a command code the interface emits 3 short beeps if the command was accepted, if the
command was not accepted 2 beeps are emitted, one short and one long, in which case retype the code
to carry out the command.
5.1 RECEIVING CALLS
When a 2Voice call is received, the intercom interface forwards a telephone call via the PSTN line or via PBX
to the number associated with command 28 (refer to Chap. Pairing of user code with extension number
or public network number). Telephone devices connected to the public network telephone line or PBX will
ring for a maximum time of 60 seconds (hang-up time).
To enter speech with the handset, the user must answer the call with the telephone device and press the
‘#’ key to activate the voice mode.
5.2 DOOR OPENING
IN VOICE MODE
On the telephone device, dial #222 or #35 to send a pedestrian door opener command or dial #333 for the
driveway door opener.
STANDBY
To send a door-opening command when not in voice mode, follow the procedure below:
1. Via a PBX extension call the extension number corresponding to the intercom interface or via a
telephone device call the telephone number of the public line to which it is connected.
2. Wait for the call to ring (1 ring by default or the number of rings set in the parameter described in Chap.
“Number of rings before a telephone call is answered”) and the next 3 short answer beeps of the
interface.

3. Then dial #222 or #35 to send a pedestrian door opener command or dial #333 for the driveway door
opener.
If the programming of the door opener is congured in the ‘free’ mode in the system, it is possible
to use the door opener commands in the stand-by state.
5.3 SENDING ACTIVATION CODES FOR SPECIAL DECODERS

If the video door phone system is equipped with one or more special decoders Ref. 1083/80 correctly
congured, up to 7 special functions can be activated (e.g. staircase lights, garden lights, etc.).
IN VOICE MODE
On the telephone device dial #441 or #37 to send special code 1 to decoding or dial #44X where Xis
a number from 2 to 7 referring to the number of the special code being sent to decoding. For example,
dialling #447 sends special code 7 to the decoder.
STANDBY
To send a special code to the decoder when not in call, follow the procedure below:
1. Via a PBX extension call the extension number corresponding to the intercom interface or via a
telephone device call the number of the public line to which it is connected..
2. Wait for the call to ring (1 ring by default or the number of rings set in the parameter described in Chap.
“Number of rings before a telephone call is answered”) and the next 3 short answer beeps of the
interface.
3. Then dial #441 or #37 to send special code 1 to decoding or dial #44X where Xis a number from 2 to
7referring to the number of the special code being sent to decoding. For example, dialling #447 sends
special code 7to the decoder.
6. ACCESS TO PROGRAMMING MODE AND PARAMETER
CONFIGURATION
The following chapter describes how to program the parameters of the intercom interface Ref. 1083/87.
To programme a parameter of the intercom interface, it is always necessary to enter programming mode by
following the procedure described below:
1. Call the internal extension number corresponding to the intercom interface or the number of the public
line to which it is connected.
WARNING! It is not possible to programme the intercom interface via an analogue telephone connected
in parallel to the PSTN line.
2. Wait for the call to ring (1 ring by default or the number of rings set in the parameter described in Chap.
“Number of rings before a telephone call is answered”) and the next 3 short answer beeps of the
interface.
3. Dial 888 on the telephone device (default password) to access the programming mode of the intercom
interface.
4. Then enter one of the following programming codes described in the following chapters. In case of
inactivity, the device exits programming mode after 90 seconds.
After entering programming mode and after entering at least one number of a code, if more than 5 seconds
elapse since the last digit entered, the intercom interface exits programming mode by emitting an error
beep.
6.1 AUTOMATIC INTERRUPTION OF CALL
The intercom interface can be programmed to automatically interrupt the call immediately after the open
command is sent.
To programme the function, follow the procedure below:
1. Enter programming mode as described at the beginning of section 6.
2. Enter programming code 99.

3. Then type:
• the number 1to enable automatic call interruption after the door opener command has been sent;
• the number 0to disable the function.
4. Enter 6 to conrm your selection.
5. If programming was successful, 3 short conrmation beeps are emitted on the telephone device.
If programming was not successful, two beeps are emitted, one short and one long, in which case the
conguration must be repeated.
6. At the end of programming, it is possible to proceed to new programming by entering a new parameter
code that you wish to programme, or to close the call by exiting programming mode.
6.2 LINE BEEPS TELEPHONE
CAUTION! By default, the intercom interface is congured to manage the line beeps used in EUROPE,
i.e. the following parametric combination ‘83 0 3 8 0’.
If it is necessary to change the line beeps, please follow the instructions in the following paragraph.
The interface is able to automatically recognise when a telephone communication is interrupted or when the
called telephone number is busy according to the beeps on the line.
The programming of telephone line beeps serves to dene the frequencies of the beeps in the various
international standards and their minimum duration.
For example, in Europe line beeps have a frequency of 425 Hz while in the US they consist of a 480 Hz beep
and a 650 Hz beep.
The denition of the minimum beep duration time (T) and the maximum dierence (D) between the duration
of the beep and the pause that make up the busy signal.
To programme telephone line beeps, follow the procedure below:
1. Enter programming mode as described at the beginning of section 6.
2. Enter programming code 83.
3. Enter the code corresponding to the minimum time (T):
0 = 40 ms 1 = 80 ms 2 = 120 ms 3 = 160 ms 4 = 200 ms 5 = 240 ms
4. Enter the code corresponding to the minimum frequency (F1):
0 = 300 Hz 1 = 325 Hz 2 = 350 Hz 3 = 375 Hz 4 = 400 Hz 5 = 425 Hz 6 = 450 Hz
7 = 475 Hz 8 = 500 Hz 9 = 600 Hz
5. Enter the code corresponding to the maximum frequency (F2):
0 = 325 Hz 1 = 350 Hz 2 = 375 Hz 3 = 400 Hz 4 = 425 Hz 5 = 450 Hz 6 = 475 Hz
7 = 500 Hz 8 = 525 Hz 9 = 700 Hz
6. Enter the code corresponding to the maximum recognised dierence between the duration of the beep
and the duration of the pause (D):
0 = 200 ms 1 = 320 ms 2 = 400 ms 3 = 520 ms 4 = 600 ms 5 = 720 ms 6 = 800 ms
7 = 920 ms 8 = 1000 ms 9 = 1120 ms
7. If programming was successful, 3 short conrmation beeps are emitted on the telephone device.
If programming was not successful, two beeps are emitted, one short and one long, in which case the
conguration must be repeated.
8. At the end of programming, it is possible to proceed to new programming by entering a new parameter
code that you wish to programme, or to close the call by exiting programming mode.

6.3 NUMBER OF RINGS BEFORE A TELEPHONE CALL IS
ANSWERED
The following programming allows you to dene the number of rings before the intercom interface answers
a telephone call.
This function is useful when the intercom interface is connected directly to the PSTN line and not to a PBX.

For example, if the number of rings is set to 5, this means that when a telephone call arrives, the intercom
interface will only answer after the fth ring.
To programme the number of rings, follow the procedure below:
1. Enter programming mode as described at the beginning of section 6.
2. Enter programming code 62.
3. Enter a number from 0 to 9 to programme the number of rings that will be generated before the
interface answers a call.
4. If programming was successful, 3 short conrmation beeps are emitted on the telephone device.
If programming was not successful, two beeps are emitted, one short and one long, in which case the
conguration must be repeated.
5. At the end of programming, it is possible to proceed to new programming by entering a new parameter
code that you wish to programme, or to close the call by exiting programming mode.
6.4 WAITING TIME BEFORE SENDING A TELEPHONE NUMBER
When the intercom interface is connected directly to the PSTN line, it may be necessary to allow a dierent
waiting time than the default (1 second) before sending telephone numbers.
1. Enter programming mode as described at the beginning of section 6.
2. Enter programming code 85.
3. Enter a number from 1 to 9 to program the waiting time in seconds before sending the DTMF beeps
representing telephone numbers.
4. If programming was successful, 3 short conrmation beeps are emitted on the telephone device.
If programming was not successful, two beeps are emitted, one short and one long, in which case the
conguration must be repeated.
5. At the end of programming, it is possible to proceed to new programming by entering a new parameter
code that you wish to programme, or to close the call by exiting programming mode.
6.5 MAXIMUM DURATION OF A DOOR PHONE CONVERSATION
The following programming allows you to congure the maximum duration of a door phone conversation,
from a minimum of 1 minute to a maximum of 10 minutes.
To programme the maximum duration of a door phone call, follow the procedure below:
1. Enter programming mode as described at the beginning of section 6.
2. Enter programming code 86.
3. Enter a number from 0 to 9.
0 = 1 minute 1 = 2 minutes 2 = 3 minutes 3 = 4 minutes 4 = 5 minutes 5 = 6 minutes
6 = 7 minutes 7 = 8 minutes 8 = 9 minutes 9 = 10 minutes
4. If programming was successful, 3 short conrmation beeps are emitted on the telephone device.
If programming was not successful, two beeps are emitted, one short and one long, in which case the
conguration must be repeated.
5. At the end of programming, it is possible to proceed to new programming by entering a new parameter
code that you wish to programme, or to close the call by exiting programming mode.
6.6 PASSWORD FOR PROGRAMMING
The programming access password (888 by default) of the intercom interface can be changed to another
3-digit code.
To set the new password, follow the steps below:
1. Enter programming mode as described at the beginning of section 6.
2. Enter programming code 51.
3. Enter the new 3-digit password (the following characters are not allowed: ‘#’ and ‘*’).
4. Enter the password again for conrmation.

5. If programming was successful, 3 short conrmation beeps are emitted on the telephone device.
If programming was not successful, two beeps are emitted, one short and one long, in which case the
conguration must be repeated.
6. At the end of programming, it is possible to proceed to new programming by entering a new parameter
code that you wish to programme, or to close the call by exiting programming mode.
6.7 ACCESS TO VOICE MODE IN MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC
MODE
The following programming allows you to dene the voice access mode for door phone calls.
When using manual mode, after answering the call, it is necessary to press the “#” key, either on the PBX
extension or on the telephone device, in order to enter speech with the call station.
If automatic mode is used , it is sucient to answer the call in order to enter voice mode without having to
press any keys on the PBX extension or telephone device. In this mode, the hang up wait time is eliminated.
To programme the speech access mode, follow the procedure below:
1. Enter programming mode as described at the beginning of section 6.
2. Enter programming code 75.
5. Enter a number from 1 to 4 to select the user code to be programmed.
For example, if the number 1 is entered, programming can be carried out on the rst user code
that uses the intercom interface (for more details on user code and derivative association refer to
chap. “Dip-switch seq apt”).
4. Then type:
• the number 1to activate the manual response;
• the number 0to activate the automatic reply.
5. If programming was successful, 3 short conrmation beeps are emitted on the telephone device.
If programming was not successful, two beeps are emitted, one short and one long, in which case the
conguration must be repeated.
6. At the end of programming, it is possible to proceed to new programming by entering a new parameter
code that you wish to programme, or to close the call by exiting programming mode.
6.8 DEVICE REBOOT
It is possible to restart the telephone microphone using the programming code without necessarily
disconnecting power to the device.
To reboot, follow the procedure below:
1. Enter programming mode as described at the beginning of section 6.
2. Enter programming code 913 on the telephone device.
3. Wait for the communication to be interrupted.
4. End the call.
6.9 RESET TO FACTORY PARAMETERS
To reset the device to factory settings, follow the procedure below:
1. Enter programming mode as described at the beginning of section 6.
2. Enter the programming code 90 000 on the telephone device.
3. If the reset to factory parameters was successful, 3 short conrmation beeps are emitted on the
telephone device.
Otherwise, the procedure must be repeated.
4. At the end of programming, it is possible to proceed to new programming by entering a new parameter
code that you wish to programme, or to close the call by exiting programming mode.

APPENDIX: ADVANCED LINE BEEP DETAILS
The maximum duration of the beep is not dened, only the minimum duration can be programmed. A busy
beep is only recognised as such if the beep lasts at least as long as the minimum duration and if the duration
of the beep in relation to the duration of silence does not dier by more than the dierence time (D). This
check is performed on at least ve consecutive beep-pause sequences.
With default settings:
T= 40 ms
F1 = 375 Hz
F2 = 525 Hz
D= 200 ms
An FT frequency busy beep with DTbeep duration and DPpause duration will be recognised.
Central busy beep
DT = Beep duration
DP = Pause duration
375 Hz ≤ FT ≤ 525 Hz
DT ≥ 40 ms
|DT - Dp| ≤ 200 ms
Therefore, the absolute value of the dierence DT- Dp must be ≤ the set Dvalue.
